Pell the Treecko

Lonely / Likes to run

Gender: Male
Age: 18
DoB: Unknown - He doesn't remember.
Ability: Unburden - Speed stat doubles if his held item is lost. To move more freely, Pell usually takes off his vest.

Stats:
  • STR: 2
  • INT: 4
  • AGI: 4
  • CHA: 0 +2
What Pell lacks in strength he makes up in speed. He is very fast and acrobatic which enables him to strike enemies without them even knowing what hit them. He also devises clever strategies to battle as effectively as possible. He has poor social skills, however, and prefers solitude over social situations.

Moveset:
  • Aerial Ace
  • Low Kick
  • Synthesis
  • Swords Dance
Pell loves physical attacks. He usually uses Swords Dance at the start of battle before attacking with Aerial Ace or Low Kick. To restore health, he uses Synthesis, which is boosted if Pluck has Sunny Day up.

Personality:
+ Pell is very strong-willed and dutiful when it comes to missions, always working hard and staying focused on his goals.
+ His word is a promise, and to him, a promise means everything. He would rather run himself to the ground with extra effort than fail to deliver the results he said he would.
+ Luckily, he is calm, practical, and always keeps his feet on the ground at any hardship.
+ He believes that effectiveness in any activity is important, even in battle - that's why he chooses to fight with brains and a carefully-planned strategy over brawns and pure power.

- Pell believes that if he wanted something done right, he had to do it by himself. This often results in him forcing others to do something his way or even rejecting their help altogether. However, as he loads himself with extra work and responsibilities while turning away others' good intentions, he often comes to a point when he just can't deliver the desired results and begins to unreasonably blame himself believing that the responsibility of failure is his alone to bear.
- He is stubborn and tends to be too focused on his own ideals that he forgets to consider other people's views and opinions.
- He is always "by the book" and is reluctant to try new things.
- He comes off as insensitive because he always speaks the blatant truth without taking emotions into consideration.

History:
Pell's life before he got lost in the fog is unknown as he emerged from the fog with a bad case of memory loss, even going as far as forgetting his own name. He wandered the city of Andalusst for a few days before he met street urchin Pluck in a backstreet. Seeing that the Treecko was hungry, Pluck offered him some bread, which turned out to have been stolen from a merchant.

Pell only realized that when the merchant arrived and came after Pluck and himself. He considered escaping and leaving Pluck behind but changed his mind since he felt the need to help the Roselia in return. He and Pluck escaped, got to know each other, and became friends. They decided to stick together after Pell had made Pluck promise to not steal again. Then, an enthusiastic Pluck gave Pell name suggestions. According to the Roselia, the name had to start with P so it would "sound really cool" if said together with his own. The Treecko finally settled on a name chosen among more "creative" suggestions such as Pickle, Popcorn, Popsicle, and Pomplemousse; thus they became Pell and Pluck.

After wandering around Andalusst for a few more days, they finally knew what they were going to do and signed up at the Explorers Guild.

Trivia:
  • He has permanent blush marks on his cheeks, making his face look extra rosy. He extremely despises this.
  • Although he's the team leader, he seldom talks because Pluck usually beats him to it.
  • He doesn't like to talk about his lost past and clams up whenever someone brings it up.

Pluck the Roselia

Jolly / Highly curious

Gender: Male
Age: 15
DoB: 14 October (Libra)
Ability: Leaf Guard - Pluck is prevented from being afflicted by major status conditions during intense sunlight.

Stats:
  • STR: 2
  • INT: 1 +1
  • AGI: 3
  • CHA: 4 +1
Pluck's strength lies in his social skills. He is amiable, makes friends quickly, and is usually able to get help, information, or agreement from other people without difficulty. However, he is not intellectual at all and is often too lazy to even think (!), much less plan strategies and follow up with them.

Moveset:
  • Sunny Day
  • SolarBeam
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Ingrain
Pluck loves special attacks. At the beginning of battle, he usually puts up a Sunny Day to be able to use SolarBeam without charging and to boost Pell's Synthesis. Intense sunlight also gives him another advantage by activating his Leaf Guard ability.

Personality:
+ Pluck is curious and adventurous. He likes to try out new things and isn't afraid to step out of his comfort zone to do so.
+ He is observant and believes that every little thing that happened is a part of something bigger. He has creative ideas and sometimes even surprises Pell with new angles to look at an issue from.
+ He is always energetic and enthusiastic as well as a good communicator. When he has an idea, he won't hold his tongue - he likes to share them with anyone who'll listen.
+ He has good social skills and gets along with pretty much everyone.
+ He knows how to relax and believes that having fun is as important as working.

- Pluck has poor practical skills. Although he often gets sudden creative ideas, he isn't good at the upkeep and follow-up. Without someone to keep him in line, his ideas are likely to remain just that - ideas.
- He finds it difficult to focus and maintain interest when tasks drift towards routine matters.
- He is highly emotional and is prone to crack under stress, criticism, or conflict.
- He cares a lot about others' emotions to a fault. Because of his popularity, people often come to him for help and guidance, and he just doesn't have the heart to say no.
- He is also independent to a fault - he hates being restrained by rules and is OK with bending or even breaking them.

History:
Pluck was born to a wealthy family in Andalusst consisting of a father, a mother, and a young lady (Pluck's older sister). They owned a popular tavern and lived an easy, full life.

However, following the death of Pluck's father, the tavern was mismanaged and they fell into bankruptcy. Since Pluck's sister is a researcher/engineer, most of their remaining money was used to fund her research. Their mother worked as a seamstress while Pluck went into the streets and got into the habit of stealing food from merchants.

It was in one of the alleys where he met a lonely, hungry Treecko. Feeling pity for him, Pluck gave him his bread. The Treecko later returned the favor by helping him escape from the merchant he'd stolen the bread from.

He quickly made friends with the gecko and upon learning that he had forgotten his name, was more than happy to suggest some ideas. After wandering without direction for a while, they finally decided to sign up at the Explorers Guild.

Pluck likes to set aside much of his share of the Star Coins obtained from missions to give to his mother, as does his sister with the Star Coins she earns for her research. They both visit their mother regularly at her seamstress' shop, and even Pell gets acquainted with her.

Trivia:
  • Pluck can speak French (it's his mother tongue since his father was French). He chatters really fast in the language when he gets stressed out.
  • It seems as if "Pluck" isn't his real name, but he wouldn't tell Pell what it really is. "It's in the past," he'd said lightly.
  • His catchphrase and motto is "With a little luck and a lot of pluck, anything is possible!" and he would love to say it before every mission, but Pell is so no-nonsense and always determined to start that he rarely lets Pluck finish.
  • Pluck is larger in size than normal Roselia (just like Drew's Roselia) and has blue eyes instead of black.

Pell and Pluck as Team Pell-and-Pluck

What Pell thinks of Pluck:
It's true that Pell sometimes thinks of Pluck's enthusiasm and energy as exhausting and his endless joking as a nuisance, but he admits that the Roselia does sometimes come up with ideas that make him look at a problem from a new angle. In any case, Pell takes Pluck under his wing like a little brother and though he's cool and aloof, he's always there to defend the younger Pokémon.

What Pluck thinks of Pell:
Pluck sees Pell as a competent and focused leader. Usually too lazy to think much, Pluck trusts the Treecko's judgment and plans, though he isn't really good at sticking to them. He admires the Treecko's ability to persevere and keep working hard against all odds, but does find it annoying when Pell disregards his suggestions and opinions.
