We can learn from others mistakes, until we don't forget our common sense. I almost suspected that the other who kept contradicting the more diffident one did it just to let him go to the crocodile. If the crocodile isn't hungry he won't have any problem for a while.
It's useless trying to persuade others, it can even harm because people won't change their mind... unless it's for an emergency. There you'll see them all acting as if they always thought otherwise.
