Spread the word: the Walfas community needs heroes.

Am I really the only one who wants to make a difference in the Walfas community?

First of all, don't get me wrong: anyone can step up in a time of crisis, and most people do. We feel that sense of duty to help out, it looks heroic, and it inspires all who see it.
I'm not talking about those kinds of heroes: the ones who resolve the crisis after it happened.
I'm talking about the unsung heroes: the ones who prevent the crisis from ever happening.
They get no recognition, no rewards, and they may even be punished. Yet, they do get the satisfaction that they made the world a better place.
I'm not talking about the people who step up when the house is already burning down: where are the people who stop the house from burning in the first place?
I'm not talking about the people who resolve fights after they happen: where are the people who stop the fights before they start?

Am I the only one who tries to prevent fights and bring people together before it escalates?
To give hope to the hopeless before they plunge into despair?
To give a voice to the voiceless before they give up?
To bring light to the darkness before it gets worse?
Am I really the only one?

I rarely see those who have problems with the Walfas community speak up, nor do anything about it. They just leave and blame the whole group for something only a few individuals did, for something that could be prevented. I can speak up. I can fix things. Why can't you?

I'm not special. I'm just a guy who chose to volunteer. Anybody with a blog and a voice can say something. Most people use it to spread hate, fear, and chaos, so why not use it to spread love, hope, and peace? Everyone has this power. Why don't you use it?

At the end of the day, this is a hobby. This is how we have fun. It's how I unwind after a long day's work. It's better than TV: I make my favorite shows, and the ones I do watch are made by my friends. It's better than reading comics: I make my favorite comics, and the ones I read are made by my friends. We're doing this for fun, so why take it so seriously?

I believe anger is useless unless we use it to change ourselves for the better. If people act stupid or mean, we don't have to react. Reacting gives them power. We don't have to freak out unless we let them. Unfortunately, most of us have gotten into this habit, but with enough training, we can get out of it just as easily. I've learned to handle difficult people and situations. Can't we imagine how we'd live if we all reacted with the same sense of calm?

Am I really the only one?

Where are the Walfas community's peacemakers?
The leaders and visionaries?
The original thinkers?
The educators and mentors?
Why is it only I have stepped up?

Again, I'm just a volunteer. I'm a normal guy who said, "I will not stand for injustice: I will stand up for those who cannot."
I'm a normal guy who said, "I will not sit idly as the world crumbles: I will help people through times of crisis."
I'm a normal guy who said, "I will not turn a deaf ear to the issues: I will say what needs to be said."
Am I really the only one?  The only one brave enough to stand up? To speak? To fight for good?

And yet, several people think of me as an intangible god, a superhuman, a hero, a larger-than-life figure. Even those who fear me see me as an insurmountable villain, a man with all the right tactics and powers. I am neither god nor devil: I am a human being, endowed with all the powers human beings are endowed with, yet most people either use for ill or not at all.
You have the power to heal others.
You have the power to bring hope.
You have the power to stand up.
You have the power to speak up.
You can do all of these things, if only you'll use your God-given powers.

Am I really the only one?
I hope not, because I do not wish to stand alone.

The Walfas community cannot stand on one man's back. The peace, goodwill, and happiness of our community rest on the people of the community itself. It does not matter what group you're in, because we're all part of the same community.
If you leave the Walfas Station Wagon, I guarantee you'll run into the same exact people in Walfas-Club, and if you leave Walfas-Club, you will run into the same exact people in Touhou-Walfas. And even if you remove all your group affiliations, you will run into the same exact people.
There is only one Walfas community, and the peace of that Walfas community is not in my hands: it's in yours.

And I know somebody will say, "But Spaztique, it is in your hands! You're the one telling us to spread peace and good will!"
No. I can only tell you to spread peace and good will.
Only you, the average person, can make our community a better place.
It's not in the hands of the admins: admins are people. You're a person. Technically, you have equal power.
If you divide power as being in the hands of the "admins" vs. the "members", then you forget the powers inherent to you right now. Right now, you have the power to raise your voice, the change things, to right wrongs. It's not reserved for the privileged few: it's available to all.

You can't change the community by getting rid of certain groups: the same people will still be there. It's not the groups, but how you react to the individuals within those groups.
You can't change the community by getting rid of certain people: you can't control other people, but you can control how you react to other people. It's not the people, but how you react to those people.
You can't change the community by eliminating all drama 24-7: running into immature and negative people is a fact of life. It's not what people do, but how you react to what they do.

You can only change this community by changing yourself.

You can't make everyone peaceful, but you can make yourself peaceful to sow peace.
You can't make everyone civil, but you can become civil yourself to sow civility.
There will be mean people, cruel people, dramatic people, but it will only hurt others if you add to it.
If you are kind, fair, and calm, you will bring with you kindness, fairness, and calmness to those who look up to you.
When you change yourself and begin leading by example, do not be surprised if others start following.

There is a reason why my corner of the Walfas community, even within the Walfas Station Wagon, is so calm and peaceful: I do my best to resonate calm and peace 24-7, even in the face of everything that opposes me. Anyone who's seen my streams knows I maintain a positive atmosphere, even when facing trouble.
If I alone can resonate this much serenity, this much kindness, this much passion, this much love and care...
... what will happen when two people start doing this?
... when five people start doing this?
... when fifty people, a hundred people start doing this?
... when EVERYONE across Walfas culture starts doing this?

I will not stand to be alone.
Come join me.
Spread the word: the Walfas community needs heroes.

I end this with the Prayer of Saint Francis. You do not have to be religious to take in its full message:

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, let me give pardon;
Where there is doubt, let me bring faith;
Where there is despair, let me give hope;
Where there is darkness, let me bring light;
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
