Description

Like many, many DC fans, I bemoned the loss of DCUC and was disappointed by its ostensible replacement in the 6 inch scale, Mattel's DC Total Heroes. They're supposed to cater to both the kid market and the collector market at the same time, but that's really not how it works. The one that hit the hardest was seeing the amazing Batman Beyond set with all the accessories, including The Atom and an old Bruce Wayne head. How wonderful it would've been if that were DCUC!

Anyway, I digress. The one Total Heroes figure I really like is the Mr. Freeze. The cartoony proportions are there, but not as evident as with the other figures because he is clad in his armoured containment suit. When I found one at a decent price, I immediately set about modding it. I couldn't do anything about the giant forearms and lower legs, but decided there was enough I liked about them to keep and that a repaint would suffice. In addition to a repaint, I sculpted on an "arc reactor"-type feature on the chest and also swapped the head for that from a Marvel Legends Infinite movie series Electro. I sculpted on the goggles, modified the fit of the head and repainted it. It's a mite too small but I think it works better than the cartoony original head. It was the head that was the thing that made the figure so stylised to begin with. Swapped the hands for those from a bootleg Batman. Thought it was odd that in the original figure, he came with an open left hand and a closed fist. Mr. Freeze is right-handed.

I absolutely love the design of the Freeze Gun accessory that came with this figure so I gave it a repaint. I added on a removable "freeze blast" effect, made from a straw, epoxy putty and stirring sticks that I cut up and arranged to look like ice shards.

Thanks for looking!
