Celestia helps us if a musical number suddenly breaks out anywhere near him.
I've dabbled with basic shading in the past and even did a few small tests with the prior two comics. With this particular setting, however, I was able to do much more. Inkscape is rather clumsy for attempting anything more sophisticated and applying shading is taxing on my chronically overheating laptop but I liked how this turned out.
