Sarah awoke a few hours later.
It was either very, very late or early depending on...
There was a peculiar tightness on the side of her face but it was not a hangover.
A compress?
There was a bandaid on her hand too.
Where was she?
Her other hand connected with something oddly familiar...
Someone?!
Turning to his sleeping form, which she had not seen since -
"Good morning."
Ever.
Almost mute, though her surprise if not thinking she was still under the spell of the night before.
"Ditto. Where are we?"
"My place. We're alone. The little ones are either in the northwest common room on patrol or..."
He. We?! They??
"Do you need some water?"
"Please."
He stood up, looking so damned hot in only his skin tight ebony pants. Nice bod for a...wait - where was his shirt??
She was wearing it?!
"You passed out. I turn around for one second and -"
CLUNK?
"Had you turned around before?"
"Not really -" he sat next to her again. Assisting to sit up and to hold the glass  in her hand.
Too many questions.
"So why then?"
"I got the feeling I forgot something important."
Oh.
"Toby's in collage now. A sophomore. Needs extra classes though -"
"No," His face was closer now, closer than it had been before....
"You."
She felt lightheaded and felt strength leaving her; just as the night before -
Before.
His mouth was on hers.
Wanting to protect - protest...but oh yes...if this is a dream...please don't wake up...
"I'm sorry."
New tears formed.
His fingers intertwined with hers.
The second kiss was deeper and spoke much more eloquently than a cheese ball on Christmas Eve.
Than a pair of firefly lights on -
The ring.
"What's this?"
The band was a woven sheer gold almost like it'd been made from a spider's web at twilight.
It's face was a silver crescent moon and two garnet stars.
Second star to the -
"It's mine. Along with my heart. If you'll have me...?"
Had never looked so beautiful.
"No -"
She had to have *some* pride.
"But if you'll come around more often, make time for me again. Even if just once in awhile.
I could be convinced..."
He smiled slipping it on.
"Don't forget to call him 'sir' - he likes that."
She nodded.
"Aye, aye."
The man was indeed a puzzle.
Yet the truest test of the Labyrinth was what it had taught. And who it really protected.
A heart of stone.
But not anymore.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Dedicated to those in our lives we are lucky to have and them we have known **

Awww poor Sarah, sounds like she was a busy girl the night before. Though I'm super jealous of how she woke up having a man right there and a proposal.
