Description
~Superman Kinect 2.0 Mocap~
<<== Test with Kinect 1.0
Finally tested the new Kinect 2.0 (XBOX One version) for motion capture in Poser. It has a wider field of view, much improved depth perception, and a more precise skeleton tracking. I can now capture more complex motion, but camera-based mocap still has the limitation that I cannot turn around, or the camera will loose track of some body parts. The capture was done on my Surface Pro 3 tablet (dual-core i5), which is the only thing I have with Windows 8 and USB 3.0 - both are required for this new Kinect 2.0.
One of the most welcome new features on Kinect 2.0 is the infra-red camera, which allows capturing motion in any lighting conditions, even in total darkness. Conversely, it's not possible to connect more than one Kinect 2.0 on the same computer because of the high bandwidth traffic that can overwhelm the USB 3.0 port. Nonetheless, it's much better mocap than with the older Kinect for XBOX 360.
Figure is my Blobman, modeled in Metasequoia. Motion captured and rendered in Poser. Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!
