Many seem to consider Karin a good person. She is polite and generally nice to anyone who talks to her. When asked to do things, she almost always accepts and gets the job done quickly and properly. When Karin agrees to take on a job, she puts all of her effort into completing it. Even if it puts her body past its limits, she will make sure that all of her promises are kept. Nothing upsets this Lilligant more than being unable to keep her word. Though she tends to accept requests/jobs/etc., it is not from pure kindheartedness. Karin finds it incredibly difficult to refuse for fear of creating a bad image of herself. Her self-esteem is rather low as it is, so thinking that somebody hates her would upset her greatly. 

Karin does not openly express her inner emotions. Even if she is upset over something, she wears a smile until she finds time for herself and her thoughts. And when she does find that time, her thoughts are usually not very kind. In fact when she is upset with someone, Karin is surprisingly spiteful. The idea of revenge pleases her, but she is far too afraid to actually put her thoughts into action. Most negative emotion gets channeled out through long rants to her collection of Bug type Pokemon. Also, she is pretty good at lying so you may want to be careful about believing everything Karin says.  

It takes a while to gain her trust, but once Karin considers someone a friend, she is fiercely loyal and incredibly dependable to that person. She will do everything in her power to ensure a friend’s safety, probably. Karin is only used to the company of her insects, so if she genuinely tries to be friendly she may come off as weird or creepy due to her lack of experience when it comes to interacting with people. 

History: Karin was born and raised in a large home located on the west end of Nacrene City, Unova. She never knew her mother but her father was a bit of a… philanderer in the past. He had always been a wealthy man, but he never made the best decisions in his youth. Perhaps this is why he somehow ended up caring for his four daughters: Aki, Fuyuki, Karin, and Haruka. This was of no concern to Karin. As far as she knew, she was the second youngest child in a household with high expectations. Her older sisters, Aki in particular seemed to be outstanding at everything. Studies, music, art… you name it. Karin always felt as if she could never compare. The Petilil was mediocre in everything she was expected to do and could never feel satisfied with anything. Nothing she accomplished could ever hold a candle to her sisters.

She was young when her mild obsession began. The girl had been particularly frustrated one afternoon and as a result, found herself on a long walk through the nearby Pinwheel Forest. At first she hadn’t been paying any attention to her surroundings. Only minutes later, she realized she was lost. Karin wandered for what seemed like hours before finally losing hope and breaking down into tears. She thought she would never find her way home and that she would be left to rot with the leaves that covered the dark ground. Karin almost failed to notice the small Pokemon that had snuggled up against her… a Venipede. She was startled at first but soon found comfort in the small Bug’s company. With a shaky voice she spoke to the Pokemon and in no time at all, they had become friends. The Venipede led Karin to the forest’s exit and the two were inseparable since. 

The Petilil became fascinated with Bug type Pokemon and she immediately began to read as many books on them as she could get her hands on. For a child she became quite knowledgeable on the creepy crawlies and when she was finally old enough, she began to catch and collect Bugs. Her lovely collection was kept in her home’s basement and Karin ignored any protests she received from her sisters. She was actually good at catching and collecting these creatures, so why would she want to stop? Finally Karin found something that interested her and for the first time in a while, she felt as if she were truly happy! 

To this day, Karin still collects and studies Bug Pokemon. Her collection has grown so large that it is now contained in a greenhouse-like structure near her home. Often the Lillligant can be found travelling around in search of new “friends” to obtain.
