LUCY'S STORY - Part 1.

(Please scroll down to see the whole feature and story.)

In the last chapter, we left the Grand Duke of Crabbsville in a very compromising situation, crying out to Lucy in desperation, then calling out his love for her again when he made a sudden, significant discovery.  Today, we will take a look at Lucy and discover her side of the story.

Daraga by ManafoldArt

Lady Lucilia Mousier-Sty was the Countess of Daraga, a first class municipality in the province or Albay, Philippines.  Her ancestry dates back as far as the 12th century, but they finally had to flee due to ever-more threatening eruptions from Mayon Volcano.  She was a woman of mysterious character, always carrying about her person a crystal ball, and when she was using her hands for something else, this ball would be placed inside a discreet pocket.  It accompanied her everywhere, even in the bath and in her bed, and she swore by the wisdom that she seemed to glean from it whenever she needed directions in her life.  All that is, until she was pointed in the direction of the Grand Duke of Crabbsville!  To this day, she still doesn't know what his first name is, which in itself is rather strange.

Sentinel by ManafoldArt

Lucilia's first encounter with the Grand Duke made her feel excited and happy.  He appeared like a Sentinel, only somehow much more important than that.  He even looked angelic, being filled with radiance and was dressed in fine ornamental garments that totally impressed her.  She was also amazed to find that he too, held an orb in his hands.  This orb was made of pure gold and looked as though a fire was burning from within it.  This encounter held the promise of romance and adventure beyond her wildest dreams, and she was immediately smitten.

Into the sunset... by rockgem

The Grand Duke wooed her and enchanted her, telling her that one day they would ride away together into the sunset on his favourite stallion, on and on into distant lands until they would finally marry and start a family of their own, then establish a new dynasty from which they would never have to flee.

Tangled Souls by rockgem

The crystal ball had shown her this picture and she understood it to mean that they were Tangled Souls and that their future together was inevitable.  However, the excitement of the initial encounter soon wore off, and she realised she was beginning to dislike certain things about him.  Not only did she find him extremely boastful, but he was also terribly eccentric!  Conversation was becoming more and more difficult as she had little interest in his main hobby as a professed environmentalist, which also often took him on very precarious journeys that he told her little about... Except that he often smelt of sewage on his return!

Just a shadow... by rockgem

Lady Lucilia's crystal ball still insisted that this was the man for her, but the more involved she allowed herself to be with him, the more he left her feeling like Just a Shadow in the light he left behind.  She was saddened and felt very trapped by these circumstances, but this crystal ball had been bestowed upon her by her Great Grandmother before she died, and she was told never to disobey its instructions or to doubt its wisdom.  After all, it was this very same crystal ball that had warned the family to leave their home just before the destruction of their ancestral home by the volcano.

Freedom... by rockgem  Sunset by rockgem

Lucilia soon became obsessed with Freedom and she would go around her neighbourhood at Sunset, finding birds that had been caged up, open up their little doors, and allow them to fly out of the captivity that all too clearly represented the way she was feeling about herself.  This was a practical outlet for expressing her own deeply held beliefs and desires.  It was getting to the point where she was glad when she and the Grand Duke were apart from one another, and she took up other hobbies too - all of which expressed her character and of course, her personal preferences.

Millionaire s 'shelter by pulsar69fr

Lady Lucilia lived in Millionaire's Shelter, an ultra-modern structure containing many strange-shaped windows, and very aptly positioned by a lake.  To its rear was her garden, which she lovingly kept in pristine condition.  She had no servants and lived alone here.  It was her sanctuary and even the Grand Duke was not aware of its existence, for she was able to cast a spell over it using her crystal ball, so only those whom she chose, could actually see it.

Top Hat by digitallusion

In the middle of the lake was Lady Lucilia's favourite sculpture, which she called Top Hat.  It was made largely of coloured glass with hidden lighting, and the water would rise and fall within it, giving off the most beautiful rainbow of colours.  If she so wished, she could press a button and it would also hum harmonies of enchanting music, which was so soft that only she could hear it.

Down in her basement, Lucilia had her own particular gaming alley.  It was a particular type of bowling game that she enjoyed, playing with Neospheres - just for one person to play.  She always won of course, and this would pacify her greatly if she had come home feeling particularly pent up about her life situation.

Static by HalTenny

At one end of her lounge, a whole wall was taken up with this incredible looking glass water tank, which had an elliptical window behind it allowing the sun rays to pour in and light, not just the tank, but the whole room too.  Sometimes it was Static, but at other times everything would start to move and come to life, bringing a gentle swishing rhythm to the water as it gently flowerd its way through the scene.  These strange, tall looking creatures stood on their pods, would rock to and fro, lifting and replacing the objects they seemed to hold onto, and the central two creatures seemed to communicate with one another via some form of electrical telepathy, so that they appeared to control everything that was happening inside the tank.

Obsidian Oracle by ScraNo  Grail by ScraNo

In her library, right at the centre of the room, Lady Lucelia kept two very special objects: the Obsidian Oracle and the Grail.  These were two more of her treasured possessions that had been passed down to her throughout the centuries, and which held magical powers.  It was stated earlier that she never allowed the crystal ball to leave her person, but there was one exception to this.  Once a year, she would prepare a special meal for herself, made from a secret recipe her great grandmother had passed on to her, and she would place it on the Oracle.  She would pour deep red wine into the bottom of the Grail and then place the crystal ball inside.  She would eat her food, chanting over the crystal ball - a certain formula only she had lived to know about - and as she did so, the crystal would light up and start to bob up and down inside the grail.  Once it was totally filled with light, to the extent that she could no longer look at it, she would pour the remainder of her meal over it, and after saying one more magic chant, the crystal would hover above the grail.  The whole point of this ceremony was to rejuvenate the crystal ball back to the original state in which it had existed back in the 12th century, right at the beginning of the family's ancestry.

Well, Lady Lucelia had many other treasures I'd like to show you, including art works, more sculptures, incredibly rare ornaments and, not least of all, a garden of rare plants.  I'm afraid though that these, and more of her story, will have to wait for another time now, otherwise this chapter will turn into a whole book in one go!

I hope you enjoyed it so far... ;)
