Description
With the release of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, I got inspired to do my own Superman-oriented crossover.

The Plot:
When the villainous Lex Luthor uncovers the remains of an ancient Gem temple, Superman knows this can only lead to trouble. So leaves his post at Metropolis and sets out to Beach City to find the only team who can help inform him and fight against Lex's impending threat, The Crystal Gems: Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and Steven! The Gems are hesitant at first, but Steven reassures them about Superman, informing them that Superman is "The greatest superhero that ever existed!" (The Gems are unaware who Superman is until Steven tells them about him). Superman and the Crystal Gems warp to the temple. Once inside, Superman discovers that confines of the temple are aligned with lead, so he can't simply pinpoint Lex Luthor's location with his X-Ray vision. So the five split up into two groups: Superman and Steven go one way, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl go another. During their search, Steven and Superman share a little bonding time together, learning they have a lot in common with each other. When all five of them catch up with Lex Luthor, the Crystal Gems are shocked when they discover that Lex has learned to access the ancient Gem technology to his advantage. Lex inserts a small shard of Kryptonite into an large Gem-powered device, which he uses to create the ultimate super-weapon against Superman: A Kryptonite Gem!

It was a lot of fun redesigning Superman in SU style! I mainly based him off of the design from Superman: The Animated Series, but I also added in some hints of the Man of Steel design, as well, with the cuff designs on his wrists and, obviously, the more organic-looking Superman logo. I do really like the MOS logo. But, for the most part, I wanted to make sure this was a contemporary design that both fit in the SU Universe, while also accompanying everything I love about Superman.
I miss seeing the curl in Supes's hair. :' (

In one instance, Superman helps comfort Steven and gives him some "Words of Wisdom" (Upper-Left). I'd imagine Superman being sort of the heroic father figure that Steven never had. Someone Steven could look up to and share a special connection with. When you stop and think about it, Steven and Superman really do have a lot in common with each other.

If this crossover could materialize itself as a comic book mini-series, I honestly would s%&@ my pants for it!

I can't help but wonder how Diana would see the Gems, on one hand she views every other woman as a little sister, but on the other hand, Gems aren't exactly women
