Description
I recently opened Requests, art trades and collabs, and this was one of the requests I got. This is Avia, an OC by IDreamOfTheWind. This was a lot of fun to do, and it taught me a few things too -
- Don't do lineart directly after the rough sketch. Do a tighter sketch after the rough sketch, so that you do not have to draw/think of details while you do lineart. That way, you can focus on just the lineart itself - getting smooth, clear lines, with attention paid to lineweights.
- Don't leave lineart completely by itself. Lay in some shading with crosshatching, to make the forms read better and to indicate some basic lighting.
- Don't do the final lineart on the phone. Using the wacom on a pc helps because you can use the stabaliser to get cleaner, smoother lines.
- When detailing a rough sketch, don't follow the forms or proportions of the rough sketch - use the rough sketch as base to help flesh out the forms and details. Being able to do this is another advantage of doing a detailed sketch between the rough sketch and final lineart.
As always, I am open to any critique and feedback on how to improve on the work that I submit here, so if you have any suggestions, please lemme know! Also, if you have a request or trade or collab you want me to do, drop me a note.
