FORCING MYSELF TO UPLOAD THIS LEST I CONTINUE OVEREDITING //DYING WHALE NOISES//

ps. You are welcome to use my bio template, but don't steal my creative ideas for Kira, especially her skin Innocence morphing body armour concept, which I literally made up and fine tuned myself. It's not canon. You copy it, I'll know it. As knightchick says, if you wouldn't steal from canon, don't steal from fans either!

Basics

Name: Darkness' Light

Type: Parasitic (morphing body armour concept)

Location: Epidermal layer of her skin

Synchronization Rate: 79% (91% after training with General*)

Battle style: relies heavily on speed and calculated bursts of energy to make up for a seeming lack of enduring, steady release of energy; varies from mostly close-combat to mid-range

Themes: Light within the Darkness | Night Sky | Hope
:note: *The information listed in this deviation pertains to Kira's sync rate before her apprenticeship with a General.

:note: Kira's weapon is also known as Afe'la Ohr, which is a rough Hebrew translation of her Innocence's name. My headcanon is that through the bond between Accomodator and Innocence, a name is given; and that Kira asked the Innocence what it called itself, and this was the answer that was projected through the bond. Kira, however, refers to it by the English translation. (Nickname is "Afe" courtesy of knightchick).

Deactivated

The Innocence, though being the entire epidermal layer of her skin, only reveals itself visually as black skin, shaped like a 1.5 inch thick band on her wrists and ankles (often mistaken as wristbands or tattoos). The black skin is physically hard - harder than calloused skin - to the point she could block a normal blade with them. If one were to flick her black skin, it'll sometimes make a muffled ping! sound (much to Lavi's amusement). If in the right light, the black discoloration will give off a dark blue sheen, revealing the fitted outlines of hexagonal Innocence patterns.

Additionally, the Innocence slightly hinders Kira's sensitivity to touch where it manifests. This is due to the nerves being located in the dermal tissue, the layer beneath the epidermis. Elsewhere, this is only the case when the Innocence in her skin activates.

Innocence, Activate!

The black discolored skin as described above flashes a sky blue color, appearing to "stretch" in hexagonal patterns to cover her entire body (although it isn't stretching - her entire epidermal layer that is Innocence is simply activating and becoming black and hard as it does so). As Kira becomes stronger, a sky blue color will sometimes mist from her wrists and ankles where the original bands were present. Also, as is with Parasitic Innocence, the black skin reacts to her emotions, "writhing" and its form sometimes altering when she's angry or upset.

Unlike Krory who has no fully definable "stages," Kira's Parasitic Innocence power is organized similarly to how Allen's Cross alpha and Cross beta phases were, as you'll read below.

Innocence Stages & Attack Outline

F i r s t . P r a y e r | Body Armour & Energy Control

When Kira activates her Innocence, it defaults to body armour; all of her skin becomes black and hard like armour, allowing her to take direct hits from lower level Akuma without harm (aside from being tossed around //snorts). While Kira can strike Level 1 and 2 Akuma via hand-to-hand combat at this point, she can't really destroy them in this form, so she prefers to act as a body shield and distraction for her comrades. However, the more she takes attacks, the more worn down she'll become; and if a Level 3 Akuma gets a direct hit on her, her body armour will crack and leave her vulnerable to injury in that area. In this phase, Kira also has the ability to manipulate where to focus her Innocence's energy and let it loose [x].
  • [ LIGHT CANNON ] An attack where Kira channels Innocence energy from her right arm's body armour into the palm of her right hand before releasing it in a shot of sky blue light (looks like a shooting star, tail of energy and all). The more time she gives to channel the energy and charge it, the larger and more powerful the attack becomes. If she collects enough, she can release a blast strong enough to destroy a group of Level 2 Akuma and knock her off her feet from recoil; aiming such an explosive attack isn't easy though, and her success rate tends to be half and half on whether she actually hits her target (Lavi jokes she's caught comrades with it more than Akuma, ha). Additionally, if she didn't close her eyes before releasing, she'll be briefly blinded/disoriented by the resulting flash and leave herself an open target; so she rarely uses the "charged up" version unless she's attempting to fire at Akuma from a safe distance.
  • [[ Minor Ability ]] Similar to how Kira focuses energy to her palm for Light Cannon, she can focus energy to the bottoms of her feet to give herself brief bursts of speed. It does not increase her speed permanently or enduringly as she fights - she can only use it in calculated bursts. If she overuses it, she'll tire out faster.

S e c o n d . P r a y e r | Morphing Body Armour

Akin to a Second Release, the second phase of Kira's Innocence is characterized by unlocking the ability to alter the form of her body armour, sacrificing portions of it to create two distinct weapon forms off her flesh which can use to strike out with. In sacrificing portions of her body armour, she's left with half or less of her body armour to defend herself with, which now looks to be patches of hard black skin that fades into glowing hexagonal patterns to her normal skin color. She can manipulate these patches of left-over body armour to defend different parts of her body to make up for this, as well as use her second phase enhanced speed (and energy speed bursts) to maneuver and dodge. It's a different story if she's hit in an unprotected vital spot, though.
  • [ SHADE'S CLAWS ] Weapon form. Kira sacrifices half of her body armour to create twin knuckle-knives physically attached to her knuckles (it looks almost like they're pasted on with tar, except the "tar" is made up of hexagonal patterns... and skin). The grip is also attached to her palm, used to absorb impacts to protect her knuckles, and cannot be let go of. The blades, meanwhile, arc in front of her fisted hands in a shadowy crescent shape, one side of which is longer for stabbing. In the center of both blades are two glassy-in-appearance triangles that look to be inserted, separated in the middle by a black line and bending with the curve of the blades; these inserts are coloured like a star-filled night sky. A sky blue glow mists around the blades whenever she strikes with them after pushing extra energy into them. While durable against Level 1 Akuma and Level 2 Akuma, higher level Akuma can crack and break the knuckle-knives. If they shatter, the pieces will reform back into Kira's original body armour - although a cracked body armour at best. Kira can use the other uncracked half of her body armour to form the blades a second time; but once that half is cracked too she'll only be able to form weak, cracked blades if she's desperate enough to try again.
  • [ SHADE'S FANG ] Currently Kira's most powerful weapon form capability. Shade's Fang takes basically all of Kira's body armour to form a scythe weapon; she loses the black band markings on her wrists and ankles, as well as the remaining body armour protecting her vital regions. The scythe itself matches Shade's Claws in blade design - black, the glassy-like inserts, and crescent-mooning shadowy shape with one end longer. It will also mist a sky blue color when used in attacking with an energy boost, but with thicker particles (like pinpricks of light to mimic stars) mixed in. The staff is tipped with a blocky black cross (which Kira complains isn't much good for stabbing like Lavi's Tettsui staff tip), and sometimes a handle will appear for easier wielding of the weapon. The scythe must be connected or touching Kira's flesh at all times - it will lose its energy without contact and lose form otherwise. To assure this, thin ribbons of small, shattered-like blue glowing hexagons will connect to different parts of Kira's showing skin to link the scythe to her flesh (the spots where the ribbons connect will show patches of glowing hexagons too). Shade's Fang cannot be reformed should it be shattered by an Akuma (upper Level 3 Akuma, or any Level 3 she's been fighting without help); and after being shattered, Kira is left to only depend on weakened, cracked body armour and her Light Cannon move.
  • [[ Minor Ability ]] The epidermal layer of skin is translucent to allow light through; similarly, the blade(s) of Kira's Shade's Claws and Shade's Fang can go translucent if Kira concentrates enough. If used correctly and in the right situation, she can fool Akuma into not seeing the blade(s) as clearly. This is most effective during the brightest time of the day (using the sun shining through the translucent blade to make it harder to focus on) or at the darkest time of the night (although if she pushes extra energy into the blades, the sky blue glow around them will make it visible at night). Kira has yet to master this ability fully, but she's slowly getting better at it the more she practices and the more she bonds with her Innocence.

Extra Information

After Battle Recovery

As mentioned before, Kira's body armour can crack and her formed weapons can break, resulting in cracks in her flesh as well. After she deactivates, those spider web cracks from when she had her body armour can still be distinct on her deactivated flesh and sore and sensitive to touch. (Think of it like cracking a hard surface, then having that surface soften - the cracks are still there, but just not as pronounced). Due to how often this can occur, the Black Order's Science Division created a lotion just for Kira to soothe her skin after battles. To Kira's exasperation, this lotion smells very fruity, which leads to a lot of friendly teasing after she's put it on.
"Here comes the walking fruitcake!"
"At least I smell better than you, stupid Lavi."
"Better watch out for Moyashi-chan, Kira dear~ he might take a bite outta ya!"
"LAVI!!"

Relationship b/w Exorcist and Weapon

Kira's got a somewhat testy partnership with her Innocence. It started out with Kira being disappointed that Chikita hadn't been her Innocence as they'd all assumed, and her being bitter that the Fragment would choose to look like a "skin disease" for so long. As a result of those feelings and trouble with acceptance, Kira had many problems getting her Innocence to activate by her will. This extended to her learning how to form attacks as well, and only ever improved after Kira fully accepted her particular fragment as her Innocence. Even with the improvement though, there were times where the Innocence wouldn't work entirely as she wished. Kira's excuse to this day is that her particular Fragment is a stubborn "arse" and likes to make things harder and as vexing as possible for her. Truth is though, it all comes down to Kira simply being too impatient and always feeling as if she should be improving faster. That frustration and impatience has always made for some conflict in the growth of her sync rate, since she always blamed the Innocence. During particularly frustrating training sessions, Kira could be been found cussing out her Innocence in Swedish and the Innocence only half-formed or stubbornly unresponsive. Fortunately, these petty spits have decreased since her sync rate rose into the 70-percentile, and Kira's grown far more patient with it. (And, as a result, it has been more responsive towards her).

A Little Science Lesson

Our skin is composed of three layers: the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutaneous fat. Kira's Innocence is located in the epidermis, the top layer of her skin. Just as with any Parasitic Innocence, the fragment of the God Crystal works with the Accommodator's body, becoming a part of it in a way that the body recognizes it as no different - though it technically is. Therefore, not much changes with the way her skin would normally work (no hindering in the sweat glands or hair roots in the dermis, nor with the nerves and blood vessels in the subcutaneous fat layer); the only difference in her epidermis is that it is Innocence, and can activate to form into something that she can fight Akuma with.

For a little extra insight, note what her Innocence takes the place of: "The epidermis has several strata (layers) that contain four cell types. Keratinocytes produce keratin, a protein that gives skin its strength and flexibility and waterproofs the skin surface [hence her skin becoming hard]. Melanocytes produce melanin, the dark pigment that gives skin its color [the Innocence can change the color where it makes itself visible to the eye, aka: the black skin]. Merkel's cells are probably involved with touch reception [which is why, despite the nerves being located in the dermal tissue underneath, she can still feel things that come into contact with the blackened skin, though not as sensitive]. Langerhans' cells help the immune system by processing antigens (foreign bodies)."

If you're still wondering how on earth having a skin Innocence could make any sense, just remember that Innocence itself is a substance that breathes phenomena. In simple terms, Innocence makes shit work.
So here's Kira's completed written Innocence information, buffed up since her fanfiction's rewrite began last year. Finally got to tweak and add in the ideas I've gathered since 2010 and clarify others 8D I'll hopefully have the completed detailed visual ref of her Innocence soon. Until then, you can get an idea from the in-bio link to Kira's Shade's Claws and the pictures in my Gallery. Also, Kira's buffed and reorganized written bio should be up... idek. Maybe a few weeks LMAO. I'm still adding headcanons /shot.

I welcome feedback, questions, and constructive criticism. Even if I may disagree, it'll give me something to think about as Kira continues to grow. Though, I would suggest reading the below clarifications, in case I answer any questions or doubts you may have already. :>

My Commentary on Kira's Innocence Forms/Abilities:new: What are these Minor Abilities??
Some Innocence have what I've decided to call "minor" abilities, which aren't necessarily named moves but give exorcists an edge in battle nonetheless. They're rather like natural "functions" or quirks of their weapons? Examples for Parasitic-types specifically: Allen Walker's Cross (Alpha) claw could extend and alter its size by will without it having a named attack
Timothy Hearst can headbutt someone with Tsukkikami (the jewel in his forehead) to transfer his soul into them (despite this usually being an accident...)
Arystar Krory III's Teeth has a slew of different abilities aside from durability, strength, speed enhancement, and sensory enhancement, one of which infects his blood with Innocence which he can consequently inject into Akuma to destroy them (though this ability does have a specific name). With these in mind, I decided to give Kira "minor" abilities as well. Again, they're only lesser abilities, not name
OH NOES, NOT SCYTHES!!:tea: Hello, radical Sue critics :eyes:
A Scythe?! OH THE HORROR!!
Gotta Problem with scythes in D.Gray-Man? Sucks for you :D Innocence is canonically phenomenal and the whole point is that it can take the form of anything. It does NOT always take the form of "convenient" weapons. I give you:
Lenalee Lee - stilettos
Noize Marie - strings
Daisya Berry - bell/ball
Timothy Hearst - jewel
Miranda Lotto - clock-- and the list goes on. Innocence can turn anything, no matter how "inconvenient," into a usable weapon against Akuma; and the exorcists can train themselves to use said weapon to its utmost potential. Scythes included.
Can't picture a scythe being used as a legitimate weapon? Here's a few vids for your entertainment. Anime examples: [link]
Kira's Innocence: What is Canon and what is MineAfter reading through some of the responses on my please don't copy my designs journal, I realized that perhaps some of the "ripping off" is occurring because those who have been referencing from Kira's stuff are having trouble recognizing what is general canon design versus what is my altered creative ideas. So here's a journal to clarify what about Kira's Innocence is my twist on canon versus what is canon.
This doesn't cover all of Kira's Innocence details/ideas, but it does touch on the main concerns and confusion I've received before. Hopefully it helps ;v;'' Please also note my asterisk (*) notes and my artist description!

Okay, so I have a question, if she were to be defeated in battle by a Noah how would they find the fragment? Where would it appear from? Like Allen's entire arm is his innocence, like Kira's skin, but the actual piece is in the back of his hand? So for Kira, where is it?
