Description
A Concept Drawing of a Low German or Northern German Woman Warrior in the Historically Wrong Sketch Series: Medieval Revisited, which is roughly based on the Middle ages covering 800s AD to 1400s AD. The faction represented in the drawing is area of what is now called Northern Germany, yet, the most significant historical association in the medieval era would be the Hanseatic league, or the Hansa, hence the (badly translated) name.

INTRODUCTION
Trading Merchant Republic and City-States have been a staple in medieval history, with Italian cities such as Venice, Pisa, Genoa being one of the most famous example. This much is true to the general audience, but there were other powerful trading city states in the medieval world as well, like that along the Swahili coast in South East Africa, Burma, and along the Baltic sea like Gotland. In the 14th century however, a powerful commercial and defensive confederation of merchant guilds and market town emerged along the coast northern europe, which would be later called as Hanseatic League or Hansa. The Hanseatic League would dominate much of the trade in the Northern and Baltic sea at its zenith in 14th-15th century. The volatile nature of southern coastal area along the Baltic sea and expansion of German speaking people to the predominantly Slavic speaking people, resulted in conflicts that made it necessary for co-operation for market towns to be able to defend their trading interest. Unlike other trading merchant empires, the origin of the league itself featured, or perhaps, one way or the other, as a result of rivalry between the German Speaking People and the Slavic speaking people in the south-western coast of Baltic sea, an issue which still remains complex and highly sensitive even today.

HISTORICAL COMMENTARIES
I don't speak German, so mat take awhile to write this one
This drawing is based on the one made by Sebistara which portrays Lina and Sebus Maximus, given as my birthday gift in February. I became inspired by the two characters and began to imagine their portrayal since then, though it only came to fruition today after several failed attempts in realizing the drawing (Art-block maybe?). Nevertheless, this is my first attempt at drawing "Battle-couple" or to be more accurate "Battle-siblings" just like as what Seb's originally made them to be.
Lina von Waldheim is depicted in a stylized coat of plate, with the addition of shoulder and arm guard made of Boiled Leather, or cuir bouilli as well as mail armor underneath. Her armament consist of a "Hand and a Half" Sword, popularly referred to as "Bastard-Sword", though i'm not sure if this depiction is even accurate. The same portrayal goes for her brother, Sebus Maximus von Waldheim aka "The Forever Drunk", with stylized coat of plate with combination of mail and gambeson underneath. Both of these, as described by Seb, are member of the Royal House of Waldheim, fierce and brave fighter of the Empire.
On individual level, Lina likes her brother but hates his wife and often found threatening his wife to not cheat on him. Not only that, quoting from seb, she created the very first pc - basing on pants and beer - and the first pc-game called "Entschiedenheit Fleisch", which works on the power of two rocks as big as a hand in a spare Minute while her homeland was being attacked by bloody Hungarians. As for her brother, Sebus is a roman raised, drunken old god worshiper who feared no man, often found begging his enemy to not run away from the battlefield so that he can butcher them with ease
Either way, their depiction reflects a mashed up 13th-14th century armory. I have included a rough portrayal of the port-city based on the buildings at Lübeck, as well as sea cucumber for Easter eggs. The shield which hangs on the the side combines the heraldry of House von Waldheim and the Imperial Eagle.
