Bullet; Orange | PERSONALITY |  Bullet; Orange

.Personality ::  (Updated: 1/5/2016)

Izumi's personality, at first meeting to sum it up in few words would be Headstrong, Stubborn, but Reliable. This stems from the fact Izumi holds herself and others to high standards, and expects nothing but the best out of others and herself, She pushes herself to the limits and past, not backing down or settling for anything less, and when she says she's going to do something she means it. When she says no one is undefeatable, and nothing is impossible, it is probably because she is working towards surmounting the challenge, or refining herself to the point where she can defeat someone who claims to be better, and when she's defeated she strives to improve herself, and refuses to let anything stop her if its something she believes in. Izumi is also not avery trendy person, not being much to keep up with trends or other media, being that she grew up in a quiet village and never really had internet unless she was in town, and is often belligerent about it, unless someone is willing to sit down with her and introduce it to her formally. While these viewpoints can make her hard to get along with at first, those who stick with her will find something else. A friend. A true, noble, loving, and caring friend, however with in mind that she can be very Blunt and direct with even her most close friends, believing that if someone's asking her for advice or what's wrong, they should hear it and it's better coming from her.

As a friend; Izumi is kind, despite her intimidating appearance, tone of voice and way she conducts herself, she is someone with a lot of love and kindness in her heart, as shown with her two pets; Fu and Bai ze, and would go out of her way to help if just given the word. While she isn't a good gift-giver, often just waiting for her friends to hint-drop what they want instead of trying to guess, she believes in giving people opportunities, .  well known for her style of humor, it tends to be a bit dry or involve puns. and does not like pranks believing them to be too Malicious for her tastes.

While Izumi can give out constructive criticism and feedback, Izumi always has trouble hearing it herself. When it's from someone who's opinion she respects she doesn't take it as insults, or even getting defensive, or focusing too much on what she did wrong rather then what she did right to the point where it could be self-destructive if not stopped, this comes from the fact she holds herself to high standards. However; if the critisism is from someone who she deems as 'not knowing what their talking about it' will openly denounce them, or call'em out on not knowing what they are talking about unless they can prove otherwise.

With authority and respect, Izumi goes one of two ways, and its a matter of respect. With the Staff of the DWMA, and Shinigami himself, she has learned to respect their strength and word through example, rather then tales of what they have done, which she always believes more in than cheap talk. However as shown during the fever dream, when presented with authority she doesn't respect, she is outright and openly rebellious, Izumi will rebel and fight until she can't fight anymore, then she'll fight some more. Izumi refuses to listen to someone telling her what to do unless she respects their leadership Izumi, as long as she breaths will never respect fear instead will fight valiantly in any way she can.

.Likes :: Sparring, Missions, Meditations, Painting with Black ink and a brush, Beverages, topiary, big portions, Feral Pokemon (of all shapes and sizes), Physical Activity, Coaching

.Dislikes :: Quitters, Poorly made-Beverages, Being interrupted (on ANYTHING), Malicious Pranks, Individuals not being Straight with her, Gift Giving (Not so much the act of giving a gift, more, she'd rather just ask someone what they want but everyone wants to be surprised)

.Backstory ::

| Pre DWMA |

    Izumi was a fighter — or rather, is and always will be — from a very young age. She was born into a family of martial artists, the name “Suzuki” being one connected with strength in her village; as a result, she was raised to be a tough, fiery Mienshao, who excelled in terms of physical abilities and prowess.

    Academics...was another story.

    Izumi was born with dyslexia, a learning disorder characterized by difficulty reading, even though the subject may have normal vision and intelligence. This made it difficult for her to pick up reading and writing, so she was always at a disadvantage, compared to the other students. However, the Mienshao never let this phase her, rather, she toughed it out, never once calling for help, never complaining, never giving up. Instead, the young student put extra hours into her studies, creating extra work for herself, just so she could catch up to the rest of her class. Even though she’s still not the fastest writer or the quickest reader, her determination helped her overcome this adversity, which contributed to the self-reliant nature she holds today.

    However, it was not always smooth sailing, as Izumi’s refusal to reach out when she was struggling often slowed the class down and made the teacher pause in the middle of sessions just to focus on her needs; in order to prevent the ridicule she believed she would receive, the young martial artist put on an aggressive front in response, throwing around the weight her name carried to instill fear in her classmates. Her natural strength from being a Fighting Type and her the early childhood training regimes only backed up her appearances, frightening her classmates so much so that word even traveled to the ears of her mother, Chie.

    Chie was not happy about it.

    She confronted her daughter and told her, “Strength is a gift, not a toy, and shouldn’t be abused.” However, the Mienshao perhaps misinterpreted what her mother was telling her, therefore, reacted in an unconventional way. Instead of embracing the idea and taking responsibility, Izumi, instead, withdrew from the rest of her peers, growing distant and cutting off ties, mostly in fear of another lecture from her mother about how she was a disappointment to the Suzuki family. Despite that not being what Chie had said, the young Suzuki was always hard on herself, which was why she managed to form such an idea in her mind. This was quite the sharp contrast to her prior behavior, however, it did not alleviate the fear her classmates felt, rather, caused more anxiety, as before Izumi was loud and aggressive, but now, “silent and deadly.”

    The fear continued to grow and fester, Izumi doing nothing to disprove their whispered theories, throwing herself into her training and schoolwork and getting nothing else done. Until…

    On her way home from school one day, Izumi heard a scream of agony, followed by the laughter of children. Looking down into the alleyway she’d just been passing by, she recognized some kids from her school picking on what appeared to be a small, feral Pokémon. She knew none of their names and had very little attachment towards any of them, so the Mienshao felt no hesitation when she unleashed the anger she had bubbling up inside of her. Anger from the display before her, anger from bottling up her frustrations, anger for being the family disappointment. She howled at them, both catching all their attentions and startling them, and threatened to lay all their hides out to cure if they didn’t run.

    Being kids and believing they could be as invincible as she, they tried their luck.

    Five-on-one, there was no way the young martial artist wasn’t going to get beaten, for even though she had received training at a young age, the odds were stacked against her. However, true to her nature, Izumi fought back, didn’t give up, and stalled long enough for the feral they were tormenting to make its escape. In that moment, she felt a flash of relief, accomplishment, success, and that was something in her shifted. In a rush of adrenaline, her arm transformed into a blade — though at this point it was blunt and hardly lethal — and that was how the Mienshao discovered she was quite literally a weapon.

    And in her awakening, her title in the schoolyard changed from “Bully” to “Demon.”

| The Call |

    Izumi’s life did not get any better after her transformation, and if anything, it got worse. The whispered rumors grew worse and worse, spreading into tall tales about the “Demon of the Suzuki Clan,” whose arm could change into steel at the blink of an eye, and who would use that same arm to cut down any that stood in her path or displeased her. The day of her discovery became a blur of jumbled scenes and memories, and no matter how much she thought back and questioned, no answers came as to why the transformation had occurred in that moment.

    Such a phenomena was unheard of in the Suzuki family, so even her family had no explanations to offer; it was something unique to Izumi. It was hers. Instead of supporting their daughter, however, their family told her to reign her transformations in and focus on martial arts, because like most others, whatever was different, even on a face so familiar to them, inspired fear. But perhaps out of curiosity and spite, Izumi went against her family’s wishes — training herself in secret, refining her power, sharpening her metal, and discovering other forms — for in the middle of all the repercussions, confusion, and terror, the Demon Weapon felt strangely encouraged, as if she were a moth to a flame, yearning towards that one thing that could very well destroy her.

    However, her disobedience didn’t find much use outside of the occasional need for self-defense, for Izumi’s weapon form never had much purpose in her current environment. She’d since moved out from her village to the nearest large city, Osaka, for a dead-end, 9-to-5 job, after dropping out of high school. She had done so to begin focusing on her training and life, but the sudden appearance of a villagefolk, particularly one who could transform, tended to attract unwanted attention, which resulted in her using her weapon form as a threat, which resulted in the unwarranted approachers running off screaming in terror.

    “Ah hell, another weird weapon kid. I’m out of here!

    The keyword that caught the Mienshao’s attenion was “another.” The vagrant had used this term, meaning he must know others like her! This caused a whole high-speed chase to occur, ending with Izumi running down the man, pushing him against a wall, and demanding answers out of him. Through very persuasive threats, the martial artist managed to gain new knowledge that there were others like her called “Demon Weapons” and there was an organization in America called the “Death Weapon Meister Academy,” specifically for training “meisters,” who were wielders of her kind. While her English wasn’t perfect and this cretin could very well be lying to her, the Mienshao ended up buying plane tickets — with the aid of her mother — and set off to America to begin her new life as a student of the Shibusen.

| DWMA Career |

    Applying for the DWMA was difficult, especially with her untimely arrival, missing connections, and lack of familiarity with the region; despite all this, the fact that she had none of the above and still managed to get herself to the Shibusen campus was noteworthy enough to earn Izumi a spot in the introductory N.O.T. classes. In these beginners’ courses, she learned the basics of English, as well as full transformation, for she’d only been dealing with partial transformation prior to this. After some effort, she was finally promoted to the E.A.T. class, where she met her first meister and partner.

    They didn’t click immediately and the partnership was somewhat forced, for their first battle together was a surprise to them, too, when an unannounced kishin harshly interrupted their school field trip; still, both of them spoke Japanese and that was the first time Izumi had felt some sort of real connection with someone she ended up calling partner.

    A partnership that would last a while...but eventually found led to a downfall.

| Current Day |

    It’s almost been a year since then, the breaking up of her first partnership with her old meister, and Izumi was now flourishing, having gone through two transformations involving Master’s brews and becoming closer to Death Scythe status through a new, natural partnership with a Buizel meister named Melisa.

    Having grown out of the stoic personality she once had, Izumi can now often be found laughing and joking with her friends; the Lucario’s life had definitely taken a turn for the better, as she was now more social, while still retaining her stubborn nature and no-bullshit attitude. Despite her first failed partnership, she learned a lot from her original meister, who she had long since cut ties with, but was better because of it.

    She was now free.

    Free to be around the people she loved and cared about, who loved and cared for her in return. Companions such as her pets (Bai Ze, Fu, and Raijin) her friends (Melisa, Seth, Robin, and others), her mentor (Sid), and her love (Amy), who never failed to brighten her day and bring her joy with every passing moment.

    Izumi has never been happier with her life and never more confident in her abilities than she is now, her new goal being to instill this strength in others, as well.

| Death Scythe |

    Izumi ended her journey. She's there, and has become the Death Scythe she strove to be; years of blood, sweat, and tears put into becoming where she has, and her blades now a glistening gold and ivory, but it was really a question that struck her amidst her joy. What next? The thought never struck the Lucario, as obvious as it should have, when she heard of Athene she thought for sure her first thought would be to join but when she came to it, she found herself questioning as she read over the letter, including a place to sign her name to join the organization. As she had been doing nothing but fighting for all these years, and nothing had seemed to change, no matter how much she fought there were still Kishin, there were still Witches lost to the sway of magic, and there was still so much the same as when she started. She considered taking a combat leave, maybe not returning to field at all.

    It took her on a tour of the Death City looking for answers, looking for Purpose she remembered she was about to order a drink when the Data Witch struck, when her favorite bar was now a Medieval Tavern, her Cell phone not working unable to contact her partner, and people being rapidly changed into "NPC's" and their loved ones, who werent reprogrammed or replaced, frightened and scared. Panic began to wave until Izumi stood up and shouted

    "Stay Calm! I'm one of Lord Death's Personal Weapons, everyone who isn't turned come with me! I'll get you to the Shibusen!"

When she arrived it was a mess, she informed the people she guided to the Shibusen to "play along until further notice" she had very little clue what was going on, but she knew one thing. The world wasn't going to magically get better, but It sure as hell needed someone like her to protect it, leaving her signature on Sid's desk, her journey began again.

Weapon Forms

.Weapon ::

Main Form
| Naginata

naginata consists of a wooden pole with a curved single-edged blade on the end; it is similar to the Chinese guan dao[4] or the European glaive.[5] Similar to the katana, naginata often have a round handguard (tsuba) between the blade and shaft, when mounted in a koshirae. The 30 cm to 60 cm long naginata blade is forged in the same manner as traditional Japanese swords. The blade has a long tang(nakago) which is inserted in the shaft (nagaye or ebu). - Wikipedia

Pre-Death Scythe ||

Izumi's form has a long, light pole like that of a Ko-Naginata, but with a strong, heavy blade of an O-Naginata, Making a need for a blend of dexterity and strength needed to wield the blade, wielding the blade might be to a similar vein of that of a Scythe-Meister, involving Dexterity to gain momentum to unleash heavy strikes.  In its newest state, the Weapon has been made alot lighter, and with three spikes lining down the weapon, as seen when a magically-aided soul-resonance with Seth

As shown in Mission 5 Izumi can concentrate her users soul wavelength into a ranged arcing ranged burst, preformed by doing a slashing motion.

Death Scythe ||

Now that Izumi's a Death Scythe, her Nagninata form has finally mellowed out between all of its alterations. The weapon itself is 6 feet in length total, the pole being almost four feet long with the blade being almost two. The Spikes have been completely replaced with a clothe wrap, resembling her Reaper Clothe (Mostly for Cosmetic purpose, serves no other purpose then the possibility of a close-range grip).

As with its prior iterations; the Weight Distribution of the Weapon is perfectly controlled by the Meisters Wavelength now fine-tuned to the point where it can be Light as a Feather to Heavy as a block of steel, as well as being able to project outward soul wavelength as the weapon strikes, the Meisters Wavelength is projected, increasing the overall striking power of the weapon. Cosmetically, when done it a tailwind of energy after the portion of the weapon follows the strikes.

[PDWMA] Sven the Sinister by BattiDanni

The State of Perfect Resonance with Izumi, Dragonhunter is a technique first perfected by Natalie Lucier, in which using how well Izumi's weapon works as a conduit for soul wavelengths, involves projecting out both Izumi and her Meister's soul wavelengths outwards at once, breifly transforming the weapon into a construct of light and preforming a powerful strike

the technique was named for the fact the range of this attack can be very far reaching, and sheer size of the construct

Alternate Form: Heavy Bladed Chain

Pre-Death Scythe

a witch known as rose quartz altering her body structure, it seems Izumi has gained a new alternative weapon form as a side effect from the witches magic, although it could be theorized to also have come from her father's blood. It is a long chain with two handles, and at both ends, are heavy segmented blades that with training can be used as a mid-range option for her meister.

This form, while unique in appearance, requires a steep learning curve to learn due to its strange unwieldy design, and following the Mantra of her Naginata form, with finesse and strength this weapon can be used to unleash strikes, however, wielding the weapon is closer to other chain or rope based weapons.

However, while not having access to Soul Burst, this weapon when in full resonance with its Meister has the capability of manipulating the chain's length and nature through the handles.

Death Scythe ||

The chain is now concentrated into a single form, almost having the appearance of a Cleaver-like sword in its collapsed state, unlike its previous form, the weight distribution isn't affected anymore or less than regular resonance allowing meisters to pick up weapons; however, the soul wavelength instead manifests in the form of tethers (Chains, Raw Energy, A Cable, depends on the Meister) between the blade segments, and a Meister who is proficient in the control of their own personal wavelength can control how the segments of the blade strike perfectly

While this form is less often used, it's great for long-range  battles, or grappling/detaining opponents

Dragon Hunter ||

It has yet to be seen if Izumi's Chain form can preform Dragon-Hunter, however, in theory, it is capable.

.Moveset ::

Close Combat - An "all-out" fury of strikes, entering a state where her body moves at incredible speeds, and heavy impacts, however for a few moments after, her movements are sluggish and defenses are lowered
- Empowers the Weapon, Enhancing its striking power for a temporary amount of time, preformed by a series of Slices and stabs,  if not done properly can result in the wielder being vulnerable

Extreme Speed - Moving at incredible speeds, Izumi can be about anywhere she desires. Her Signature moves out of all of her attacks.
- A whirlwind appears around the meisters feet and hands, increasing attack and movement speed temporarily.

Foresight - Calming her mind and studying her opponents moves, It allows her strength to even touch Ghost types
- Izumi, with her Aura sight, is able to aid any Meister, detecting the energy of all living beings, this can be used to help search for targets alongside Soul Perception. This also allows the weapon to easily strike ghost types.

Transform (Shifter Varient) -

Dragon Rush - Thanks to Training with Urahara, she is able to call upon the energy she uses for her Soul Resonance technique temporarily. Calling upon a Blue aura It envelops her arm (or leg) with a draconic energy
- In her weapon form, this functions similar to as it did outside her weapon form. Thanks to training with

.Extra ::
*The current bane of her existence is a Ramen Food challenge at a local cartel, she can't eat the whole colossal bowl challenge, this remains to be the case.
*Izumi's background in Martial Arts has carried over to how she conducts in combat and as a partner. She expects a lot from Melisa, always expecting the very best, and in weapon form, often provides tactical information to her meister, just from her having a "third person" perspective of the fight.
*She loves Seafood Ramen.
(Specifically, her favorite Ramen place's 'Low-Tide bowl' with Eel, Muscles, and a fish-based broth and usually asks for an egg in it.)
*she loves food challenges as much as fighting challenges, although, she's never beat a food challenge
* her paintings with brush and ink aren't spectacular, but not bad either for someone who's mostly self-taught, but she likes doing them anyway
* While it doesn't rule her, she doesn't much like to talk about her previous Meister, with coercion, she might be willing to divulge more on the topic.
* Izumi is dyslexic and often needs extra time in reading things.
* Izumi began the school year as a Mienshao but is now a Lucario
* During off times of working Athene, she tends to classic with Sid
* Puts students back into their places
* Variant Designed by Rai
