Description

Even though it makes me shudder, here is the first version: fav.me/d2s73qf So it REALLY makes you appreciate this. I know I do.

Third of five forms in need of a remaking. I had begun to redraw the base back in the winter of 2012-2013, but I couldn't continue it this year because the way it was going -- and what little was finished -- wasn't quite up to my standards here in 2015. So this I started from scratch, and the end result was something more dramatic -- when making a picture that is a display for an OC, I don't normally make it an action scene. ...At least, not a fight scene.

As mentioned in the older version's comment, I know that it is dubious for Valerie to have a mermaid form. Though for a humanoid water-dweller, what else could I do? I knew I wasn't going to give her the ability to become a zora.... But I finally found a good reason for Valerie to have such a form -- I mean, apart from the use under water. Her using her "shape-shifter" powers are based strongly on things she's seen...and her imagination. There may not be any mer-people in Hyrule (or a good deal of the other creatures whose form she assumes), but Valerie grew up on myths and legends, so these creatures come most quickly to her mind. Though, something tells me that she may have been influenced in design by the Zora....

Apart from the update of skill, I felt that I had to make other changes to the design as well -- most notable being the armor-like scales. Just came up with those as I went along. Kind of barbed on the ends, so an enemy wouldn't want to touch her. (Nor any sicko perverts out there on the internet. Seriously, freaks, she'd beat the sh*t out of you.) Of course, the octorok slightly out of frame learned this the hard way, but it wasn't pricked by her armor; she had struck one of its groping tentacles with her sword. But you'd think that it'd be very hard to make a good swing under water....
Yep...if you don't give them attention, octos of all sizes will ruin your day...they're like the trolls of Hyrule. :XD:

Gonna get to work on the next form. Sorry I haven't been uploading more chapters of the story Valerie is in, but I've been focusing on Jak and Daxter a lot lately. I'll see if I can put up two more chapters in the near-future.

Everything here is original -- apart from the octorok -- and you do not have permission to post, copy, or otherwise reproduce this image or any design found therein.

Very nice, though I'm surprised you didn't give her a harpoon or spear to work with.  A lot of the passageways in the Water Temple are narrow, and combining that with the resistance of the water, I'd imagine swinging a sword would be extremely difficult.  Well, there's that, and the fact that I keep giggling at the mental image of someone poking an Octorok with a spear and it popping like a water balloon. :giggle:

I can't wait to see what you do for the Shadow and Spirit Temples.  Those are my two favorite temples of the game. :D
