Let me preface this by saying that I love puns. :'D

So his name is obviously a play on "Lady Liberty," but it's also sort of a quip about his parents' names -- The Conqueror and Gone With The Wynnd. I'm from the southeastern USA, and to me the southern states' roles in the American Civil War will always be a point of shame (this is particularly relevant if you're up to date on southeastern current events / politics). Wanted a horse of this particular design, found the parents who could produce him, and could not be more tickled to death that their names can be read as a victory cry for the Union.

I'm not normally patriotic, but Laddie is officially my red-white-and-blue pony.

He will eventually be gelded once he's been trained up a bit, because my aim for him is to become a children's all-rounder pony (even though he's not a pony, haha!). Low hunters, neck reining so he can go Western without looking stupid (like in parades or local shows, etc.), maybe even some gaming (like polo) just at home for kicks. The kind of small horse you'd want as your kid's first horse, y'know?

It's supposed to be fairly subtle, but he does have four stockings, each ending just below the knee/hock.

Build: Perhaps it's because he's so much shorter than the rest of our Grandes, but somehow Laddie ends up being mistaken for a Morgan or a very odd Quarter Horse much of the time. He's got big muscle from his dam on a compact, pony-like frame, but has fairly slender legs and a long neck. His head is short and sweet, and his action is an odd middle-ground between those of his parents: it's not particularly upright, but it's not flat-kneed, either. Laddie seems to be built not necessarily towards mastery of one discipline, but rather as the kind of horse who might be fairly good at a wide variety of tasks.
Temperament: Laddie is stunningly quiet. He's been mistaken for a finished horse before, and for a gelding, simply because he doesn't ever seem to put up a fuss about anything. He's polite, he's cuddly, he's bombproof, and even though he's still a stallion, he's definitely one of the horses anyone is allowed to handle. He gets this easygoing nature from his dam, who is absolutely the same way. From his sire he seems to have inherited a bit more "pizazz" than his dam may ever possess in the show ring; when ridden, he seems to want to make his rider look as accomplished as possible by making himself look as handsome as possible. He's a performer, for sure!
