Literature Text

“So…you make illusions?” Nemo asked, as the two friends lay about the green grass, the sun high overhead. “That must come in handy a lot,” Sascha piped.

“It has its advantages.” Knight said, thinking back on how the two twins must now be realizing they’d been had. “Anyway…I take it you’ve had a fun time…right, guys?”

Sascha nodded his head. “Yeah…after everything that’s happened while we’ve been here, it’s been fun not having to deal with any craziness.”

“I just wonder how everything is going to play out…” Nemo looked away wistfully, and said nothing for a moment more.

Knight, knowing how things would play out, at least for the moment, struggled internally. “This…something about this. Isn’t right,” he thought.

Nemo/Sascha looked as if they were waiting for Knight to say something. Anything. Just to help them feel a little better. Knight said nothing, though. And truthfully, he knew that must have been more painful for the two than anything he could have said.

                                                                               III
Knight sighed as he remembered back on what he’d done. For the supposed benefit of his…opponent? The Ice Elf breathed loudly, as he walked the path in the setting sun, remembering the day so vividly and deeply as if he’d lived the moments for days and years beforehand. At this point, all he could really do was take solace in his actions. Otherwise, he’d never make it.

Yet as he shuffled along the path to his barrack, he couldn’t help but let the tears flow as he reached into his pocket.

                                                                               III
Knight knew what he had to do. He knew that it wouldn’t be fun. However, having spent time with the young, boy, having learned about him throughout the day, he would make this quick but painful.

“Hey, Knight…?”

“Yeah…Sascha,” Knight answered.

“Thanks. This whole thing hasn’t been a picnic so far.”

“And it still isn’t.” Knight interrupted, his voice uncharacteristically cold, drawing Nemo out.

“Hm? W-what are you saying?”

Knight stifled a swallow and continued, his face not betraying his conflicting emotions. “Look, Nemo…this has been fun and all…,” the blue-skinned elf sighed. “No…no, I can’t really lie. It hasn’t been fun.”

Nemo lowered his head, and though part of Knight wanted to stop, he pushed on. “Nemo…you’re…kid, you’re cool and all…but after spending a little time with you…I honestly did not think you’d be so…uninteresting you know? I mean…I just kept sort of drifting out of the moment, and I even thought I could shut you up with ice cream, but…like any little kid you somehow, despite all the odds…managed to not only annoy me, but cause me a great amount of disinterest, which is a shame because…I was actually hoping to make a friend during this whole thing.

Sascha and Nemo seemed to be internally struggling to decide who would be in control, but in the end it was Nemo who remained, his head down and his mouth agape. “I--,”

“I’m not done talking,” Knight shouted, dropping down to his knees and getting right in front of Nemo’s face, causing the young boy to tear up and fall to the ground in shock.

Some other competitors in the area turned their attention to the two, but Knight kept his eyes locked with Nemo’s, his eyes burning a hole through Nemo’s like so much heat vision. “I’m not done yet, Nemo,” Knight whispered. “You…you, uninteresting…childish…I…no.” Knight leaned in close to the boy.

Nemo could feel the icy breath of Knight against his cheek, freezing slightly, the water dripping down his face.

“Go.” Knight said. “GO!”

Nemo had leapt to his feet, bolting away from the scene. Tears stained his face as they flew off in his mad dash of anger.

Knight based himself up, on his knees before standing tears streaming down his own face as he slowly began the trek back to his barrack.

                                                                               III
Knight walked into his home, the sun setting outside his window as he collapsed onto his bed. He pulled the papers take from the Twins out and began to look over the stories written. As he looked over them, through watery eyes, one piece of paper in particular caught his attention as he read.

It was then that he realized this was one of his missing memories. As he read, all the interactions with his own former lovers dawned on him. A bitter-sweet distraction from his current situation, Knight would spend the evening reminiscing and missing.
OK, so a short note:

Piss-poor time management skills, lead to piss poor writing, which is evident in piss-poor characterization, and for that I apologize profusely to :iconlumipop: who has some fantastic stuff going on. When it's up, go read their story!

Second part, for the second round, of :icononce-dead-oct:

An OCT about pairings and working under pressure...interesting.

Working under pressure tends to force us to have more diligence in writing, even if it doesn't always make the best results. It's how I forced myself to write a novel draft this summer after all.

Not going to say much more as I just got back from a European trip last night and my body needs to adjust to being back in the States again.

Hope you're doing well!
