  Personality

    Humble

Diago has never been one to flaunt anything, already having to work so hard to be liked, regardless of his behavior. He denies any claim to fame he may have and keeps his head down into his work. He may be High King Hajime’s own private tutor and friend, but his ego will not inflate for that fact alone.

    Nurturing

    Closed and Private

Since his return, Daigorou has not had the luxury of sharing his true past with his peers and students, telling most he was visiting family topside to help with their farm. While he did go topside and he did see his family- and he even helped on a farm for a while- that was not the truth. Few know the truth.

    Respectful

Daigorou doesn’t have room to skip formalities, though very few do. Tradition was not a means of maintaining the past, but a means of survival for young Daigo. He needed to make all others feel at ease around him because of his taboo history throughout his life.

    Unconventional

The Baudins consist of a vagabond-breimian born out of wedlock and a natural born retired vindictator and two beautiful briemian children. They earn looks, with Little Bird being an outsider, but they know who they are and that they will always have a place by the King’s side. Everyone needs a weirdo.

    Charismatic

Daigorou has been effortlessly enchanting since foalhood- some say it how he got to where he is, but Daigo refuses and says its because of the efforts of the late but great Eos. Both are true, but his charm has helped him put those discomforted by his presence or past at ease. It’s easier to like a nice freak than a standoffish one.

Kind

Daigo facilitates kindness in every approach, finding it much easier to approach things with a smile than with a frown.

Stubborn.

Daigorou Baudin knows your capabilities and asks for your best at least. He’s that teacher. He knows your potential and he wants it lived up to, even if you think his assignment wont better you in any way.

  History

Mareia was never one to maintain tradition, much to her family’s dismay. Mareia’s parents were stricter than most others, breeding a rebellious need in her. As she aged, her need to rebel diminished, but her lack for traditional values did not. While she wasnt obscene, her ideas were different from her parents. This was apparent when she met the trader Torro.

Torro was a vagabond who brought goods from all over to Sirith. He was handsome and kind and funny and for too charming for his own good. The two met in secret when he was in town for years. Then, they went too far and Mareia was left with a child out of wedlock. Torro refused to abandon the child, but the Bremians would only scorn Mareia more if they knew their child was of an outsider, and so, upon Mareia’s request, Torro maintained his citizenship outside the herd and Mareia fled to Nariah where she could be lost among the crowds.

Mareia had studied under healers, coming from a line of Magi and healers herself, so finding work was easy. She undertook the role of a midwife, living under the story that her husband was a guide. That explained the long absences and sporadic visits, but a lie is a lie. Mareia grew to hate her circumstances. She was in a place far away from what she knew, living a lie, and carrying a child she wasn’t prepared for. Distain verging on hatred grew in her heart toward her son.

Mareia gave birth alone, she knew it’d happen that way. She was a midwife, though, and she mostly managed on her own, but not smoothly. Regardless of her struggles, her son emerged quiet, making Mareia dread the hate she’d felt, thinking she killed him, but as she drew him close, he opened his eyes and smiled. Mareia’s heart that was filled with guilt had been replaced by love. Her son was beautiful and joyous and bright.

Torro returned in the following summer, meeting his son for the first time when his first year was half gone. Torro loved him just as Mareia grew to. They were happy for a time, but Torro left again. Daigoro was little help with his mother’s profession, but still he followed her, reading books brought by Torro to pass the time.

Soon, the boy began schooling, miles ahead of his peers thanks to his father, but still small and fragile. The children at his school recognized his lack of grandeur, lack of father, lack of tradition, lack of everything and made out to berate him. The colt suffered from their youthful wrath, making school a horrible place for him. Daigo’s mother didn’t drill the traditions and ways of the past into him, but he was more than apt with the ways of the Umare by the age of 4, more driven out of necessity than want.

As he aged, Torro’s visits became less and less frequent. Daigo’s torment at school grew, yet, and he could not escape the childhood bullies. One day, too spent from the day’s tensions, the colt fled to the city. In his escape, he met a statue atop many stairs. He followed the stairs into a library, filled with books from every realm. The Librarian came to him, her visitors were sparse. She met the child with warmth, sharing her knowledge and wealth with her new friend, Diagorou Baudin. Her name was Eos and her family had held wealth for many generations, but she was the last of her line, destined to live a solemn life, save for this child who dared to enter her home. He was welcome.

With her help, Diony not only grew in knowledge of things, but in knowledge of tradition and culture. He knew things now than on one had bothered to teach him. With Eos’s assistance, he was alloted to pass grades in school, falling into a more suitable peer group, though still he excelled. He drew attention from the scholars of Nariah, a boy with only a mare to call family. He was awarded a scholarship to a private school in Nariah, funded by Eos, but unknown to him.

Still here, he did not escape the bullying. Far from his classes’ age and even further from their wealth, he was seen as lowly, something he had to make up for with his grades. Mareia saw him less and less, as Dai locked himself away with his studies. Only on holidays was he a boy, happy and bubbling with his mother and, occasionally, father. All Daio wanted was a happy family, but he was not awarded that.

At age 11, Daigorou finished his schooling and moved on to University. Funded by his closest friend, Eos, he pursues the arts of literature and history, leaving science and math behind him. He stays in higher education for 8 years, graduating in 1682 at age 19. In school and in life, he’d dreamed of the far away places his father lived in. It was then he decided to see the world his father lived in, and left his mother and patron for the outside world. The next years of his life were lost, returning home at age 24, much different than before.

Daio had scars he did not leave with and wounds that wouldn’t heal. He took a year to rest, away from prying eyes, visited by his mother only. Those who knew him thought him dead. As he emerged from his rest, he first went to Eos for a tearful reunion, then he asked for help. He knew he wanted to teach, but he was an unconventional scholar with no ties. He needed help, and Eos did not fail. He still owes his livelihood to her.

Eos used her sway to earn him a job and a university, the very one he graduated from, teaching Literature. He was not the best in his trade, but his spirit was unmatched. His students were passive when thrusted unto him, but he worked tirelessly to have them passionate by the end.

It was in his course as a professor he met and befriended the last of the Haras, Arges. Ever dispassionate about books and stories, Arges was floundering in his class, but Daigo took it upon himself to befriend the younger stallion and show him a world he never knew. Whether he was successful in his endeavor or not is up for debate, but the two were close friends regardless.

In the course of his teaching, Daigorou earned some academic acclaim, widespread enough to warrant attention in the palace. The young prince was in need of a tutor, and Daigo’s youth, aptitude, and spirit earned him a place as the boy’s own private tutor. The prince was meant to be calm and trained, but Hajime was far from it. Diony felt out of place in the palace, but Haj seemed to feel the same way. The two bonded and became inseparable.

Chapters

Arges departed Nariah, claiming the Kawaru as his dominion, but he was always welcome in Daigo’s home. As time progressed since the King’s disappearance, Daio felt Hajime slipping away. He was helpless.

With the fires of Aodh reeping over his home, Daigorou lost his mother, but gained his child, Rosario. He marries his wife and long time flame, Little Bird, shortly after. It was also around this time he was blessed with the sight

Together, he, joined by Arges and their daughters Rosario and Eos, met the entrance of Kirins to their home. A cruel joke from a long dead god. He was horrified, but his children less so, meeting the stranges with little cuth,

Hajime called upon his friend and tutor to help uncover the lost shrine. Diony used his blessing to set a lindworm upon the rubble and free the shrine from the confines of rock.

Daigo was then set to plan a wedding, calling on all the esteemed to make a gift for the couple being wed in mystery.

Relationship Status:  Married to Little Bird

Skills:  First aid, Loving his family, Lore keeping

  Notes:

  • The baudins are kind of like the Aadams family in their neighborhood. They're not conventional by any means but they make it work. They tend not to be liked by their herd mates, but Daigo still commands their respect as a professor and a tutor to the king himself. They do not live extravagantly- they have the same rations as everyone else- but they do maintain the Argan Library in Upper Nariah. Daigo’s Wife and two daughters can be seen returning books and tending to patrons when Daigo is not home.

  • Called “Dio”, “Daigo”, “Mr. Baudin”, "Professor", or “not my dad"

  • Hates being called “Daigorou”

  • Answers any questions about his scars with marvelous stories of adventure, but none are particularly true. . . but each has its elements. The especially curious knew to confirm any story with Mareia, but since her passing, Little bird is the one to go to.

  • Often wears dark glasses

  • Birthday is January 1st! Born in year 1669!

Who's the one player character who's I think female and from what I recall constantly locked up in a library full of ancient arcane knowledge or something like that. Barely ever leaves it. I thought she was interesting but could never find her app/bio again.
