LORE OF ANNIE
Long ago...when humans lived together in harmony, accompanied by the powerful yet gentle nature, there was peace.
Back then, every human was blessed by the spirits.
As long as they kept respecting the spirits and acted as guardians for their respective benefactor, harmony would remain.
Disrespecting the spirits was an act of sin and no human could imagine what would happen if they actually did..
But the times changed, humans grew bigger in numbers, nature was tormenting humans, to keep the population at bay.
Some humans started to feel betrayed by their spirits, as they expected protection from the wrath of nature as long as they respected the spirits back.
Nature was in the way, humans needed to remove the trees, remove the inhabited animals to make space for their own offspring and future.
Outraged by this disrespectful act, the holy spirits put curses on the humans who had awaken their fury.
Punishment for rebelling against the spirits, was not put on the said humans themselves, but on their future offspring, so they would always have to see their mistakes growing up, bigger and more aware of their parents mistake, every single day.
It was the cruelest thing that could happen for a human.
Abandonment by the spirits and their blessings, seeing their future children grow up with less strength, magic and to have the label of a sinner made the humans not only isolate themselves in shame, but being shunned away by the previous blessed humans.
As the humans who kept working in harmony with their spirits did not want to be associated with the traitors of nature, they no longer wanted to be seen as a regular human anymore.
And the humans who desperately tried to rise from shame, stand for their actions and still be prideful for being them, did not want to be associated with the judging blessed humans who did not want to understand reason.
"Spirit humans" and "Blessed humans" sounded too kind and regal, the term "Animal humans" then came to rise to put the humans blessed by the spirits down.
But instead of being insulted from the regular humans attempt to put them down, they bowed down and replied with;
"Yes, we are humans, blessed by the spirits such as animals, plants and all living things. We are the ones who respect our nature. We are now to be called animal humans, with respect for our ancestors we see no shame.
We are Annies."
How the blessings work
When a plant, animal or any living thing passes away, they turn into a spirit. If the spirits are all just one great spirit meshed together or if they are individual spirits with their own thoughts, it´s yet unknown.
Different Annies have their own belief and culture around this subject.
But they are all unified that they all worship, respect and work in the name of their spirits.
No Annie is born with their blessings. If that happens, it is seen as a miracle of the blue moon. The Annies usually receive their first, but not always their last, blessing around the age of 8 years old. Right before they hit age of maturity.
If the Annies parents are for example two bunnies, that does not necessarily mean that their offspring will be blessed by bunnies. It might as well be blessed by Wolves, or by Lillies or any other blessing.
Many believe the spirits chose intentionally what Annie get what blessing, but others argue it´s completely by chance.
An Annie that is deemed worthy can be blessed by more than one spirit.
What makes them worthy is unspecified.
It can be that the spirits are in need of protection, that it would benefit the Annie´s life or that they have potential strength to become warriors etc.
The spirits are not necessarily animals but can be of any past living thing that has existed.
After the clash between Annies and humans, Annies have intensively sought out to get a better connection with their spirits and constantly meditate and try to find their link to the core of their soul.
If a connection is made, their will have greater access to the benefits of their blessing. Turning more into an individual being than a singular being blessed by outer sources.
The more connected, they can change the spiderweb of blessings into a intermingled new creation.
Example: Yami is blessed by a Cat and a Rose.
As she has good connection with her spirits the blessings can combine and create something unique. She can communicate better with cats, summon Roses, Summon an appearance that is the mix of the two. Her physical traits and mindset will also be affected by the spirits. Which can be beneficial when fighting and the like.
However a human are never completely out of hope to regain blessings again. If a human child decides to respect the cultures of Annies, nature and all it´s living beings, there is a chance the spirits will once again bless the upcoming generation of this human, to once again belong to the world of Annies.
However this is not known to the humans and most Annies tries to not spread this information around, in fear of the previous sinners blood mixing with future Annies.
CULTURE
If an Annie receive their blessings late, there is a unfortunate possibility they will suffer from bullying or exclusion, in fear of being associated with a regular human. So called a sinner among majority in the eyes of Annies.
Not receiving their blessings on time does not necessarily mean they are not an full fledged Annie.
Annies dress very sophisticated, regal and rich. They usually like to display their blessings features in the most flattering way. They have high appreciation for fashion and cultural things.
Showing your legs are very common and are seen as the most attractive part for many. If a person decides to hide their legs they are usually seen as rebellious, brave or a fighter.
The more blessings an Annie have, the higher social status they usually receive. Written or unspoken.
PRESENT
Up until recently, humans and Annies had lived apart for generations, building their own cities, creating their own ideologies and worlds. However one day everything changed when meteors fell onto the world, destroying cities, people and culture which forced the previous non unified species of Annies and Humans, had no other choice but to force eachother to accept that they have to work together.
Though some people do not believe this to be an act of nature nor spirits, but rather a sign somebody want to change the order of the world.
Internal wars, betrayal, discrimination are all but the few things this world needs to overcome to once again live in harmony.
FACTS ABOUT ANNIE
Lifespan; The lifespan of an Annie is the same as a humans plus the lifespan of their spirits. Example; Humans live around 100 years.
If an Annie is blessed by a turtle that lives around 250 years, that means around 250 years will be added to their lifespan.
Features; They usually display their blessings onto themselves by summoning a part of them. How much they can summon depends on the connection they have with their spirit.
They can have different coloured pupils in the shape of one of their spirits.
The pupils can also glow in rare cases.
They´ll also gain physical benefits from their spirits, such as if you are blessed by a cat you can gain it´s sense of balance, or night vision.
An Annie can also chose to not display their blessings features if they wish, which can make them appear like a normal human. This is uncommon however.
