Personality

[ Headstrong ] [ Tempermental ] [ Gallant ] [ Tough Outer Shell ] [ Passionate ] [ Gentleman ] [ Protective ] [ Bored ]

Headstrong
Galloway has always been a little hard headed. His ideas and ways of thinking cannot be easily swayed and though this can be a curse it is also a blessing. Many times it has helped him as a victim of slavery and been in his favor to be stubborn. The first time he was forced to fight in the Crucible Gallow was just sixteen years old, he had grown almost fully and trained since he was eight. He remembers the sheer panic as a much older stallion came at him with the deafening crowd around him. But he never froze and he never gave up. He fought for his life and won his first fight due to his will to survive.

Tempermental
Besides being stubborn the stallion has a bit of a temper which makes for a dynamic duo in the pit. His temper is great for fighting other pit slaves but a bane when it flairs in front of his master. He has gone countless days without food and other such punishments due to this negative trait. His temper is also a quick acting one. It'll flare up for the tiniest of reasons and unless he catches himself or someone keeps him in check it will engulf his whole self, but not always to violence. His temper is mostly due to his passionate understandings.

Gallant
Being brave is a big part of being any kind of slave in Aodh. Gallow has always had the innate trait to be brave in any situation. Whether it be in the Crucible or out on the streets. He learned quickly that surpassing fear would make things easier and help him to survive. Sometimes his bravery can put him into danger and into situations he may not actually be able to handle. Other times it makes him seem more knightly and likable with the crowd.

Tough Outer Shell
All of Gallow's softer emotions are locked tight away behind a stone wall. It takes a long time for anyone to gain access to his more caring and loving side. He is mostly all seriousness, stubborness, and temper on the outside. This is all due to his harder life as a slave horse. He's learned to keep some things to himself so as not to get even more hurt than usual.

Passionate
Whatever the subject is Gallow will have an overly passionate view on it. He stands strong to his ideals and thoughts and on topics he loves he will go on and on about. If he ever gains a mate he will passionately dote over this horse and love her with all he has. His passion can sometimes catch him off guard though. For example if he is passionate about a certain stance that is contrary to his master than he can be punished. But if he uses his stubbornness and his passion in fights he is a force to be reckoned with.

Gentleman
Gallow does not realize how much of gentleman he can actually be. It comes as a huge surprise to any mare of any status. A giant muscled stallion who is a successful pit fighter is not expected to be well behaved in the slightest. But this trait helps his master create more revenue by selling Gallow off as a pleasure stallion to mares and stallions alike. It also wins him bids, favors and gifts because the general public seems to like his character. Who doesn't love a strong, bad ass stallion in the ring but a sweet, gentle stallion in bed. c; But he is definitely not liked by all. This trait can easily create enemies of his rivals.

Protective
Even though this trait could be used against him, Gallow has always been protective of those who are weak, down-trodded, young or old. Pretty much anyone who is receiving unjust treatment. He is very protective of those he cares for and is especially found of foals, in particular the ones being bullied. As he was bullied as a young colt. This trait could easily be used against him, so he keeps it on the down low and tries to not keep anyone to close to him.

Bored
Galloway has a very short attention span. And it only gets worse the more time he spends as a pit fighter. Use to the constant action and entertainment of the fights, it takes a bit to keep Gallow from becoming bored. He doesn't understand frivolous spending or activities and has very little patience for the rich, which fuels his temperamental actions. Though if put in something that catches his attention and keeps his mind occupied this stallion is perfectly behaved and will stay busy for hours.

History

[ Birth ]
Gallow was born to two parents. A beautiful leopard-blanket appaloosa mare named Rebecca and a powerful black Friesian stallion named James. His mother was a servile slave, former pleasure slave when James took her as his own as a reward from his master. Even though James was a ferocious fighter in the Crucible he was gentle and sweet on his mate and his promising son. And his mother was doting and over protective of her first foal. In her younger days she used to love being a pleasure slave: that all changed when she fell in love with James and gave birth to Galloway. The birth was stressful, but not life-threatening and he came out as healthy as could be. He was so shy and tiny during his first few hours. It took him a bit to go up to his 17.1hh father, but when he did Gallow instantly looked up to him as a role-model.

[ Childhood ]
For the first five years of his life Gallow lived a relatively easy slave life, he helped his mother at her servant duties and was carefully watched by his father's master to see if he had his father's potential.

Then the year he turned seven his father's master was suspected of cheating in the fights. He was accused by those jealous of his success in pit slaves of giving illegal supplements, sharpening the incisors and the wolf teeth and training some of his slaves to kill in the fights. Though none of this was true, the master was still punished and his slaves were taken from him to be executed. James was one of those pit slaves. Rebecca went absolutely wild at the news and fought everyone who tried to stop her. Because of her blatant disobedience, she was sold off to the city as a labor slave. Gallow was kept by Rebecca's previous owners until he was sold to a pit slave master who saw his potential as James' son.

[ Teenager ]
This is Gallow's turning point from innocence to a hardened heart. The pit master put him to work, training, as soon as he turned eight. He lived a slightly lavish life for a slave but enjoyed none of it knowing the horses around him were the ones who killed his father. Only being able to see his mother rarely, he focused on training hard and becoming a creature that had no emotional attachment, who only thought in fighting sequences.

His teenage years were full of turmoil and anger. This fueled his training, but got him into trouble with his master. He was hard to handle and order around. But after his master threatened to have him killed like his father or to have his mother killed he calmed down slightly. Gallow knew his master could not afford to loose him, but he would do anything to keep what was left of his family safe.

On his eighteenth birthday he was thrown into the Crucible to fight a stallion that was much more experienced than Gallow. His master wanted to beat some submission into the wild teen and also to test his fighting capabilities to see if he inherited his father's natural talent. And to his pleasure Gallow was everything his master had trained him for. The young stallion outsmarted the older stallion, stayed resilient even after being beaten off his hooves and won the match. After that Gallow became more aggressive in his battles, more determined and more confident in who he was. A fighting slave.

[ Adult/Present ]
Gallow continued to excel in pit fighting. His days were filled with training, working hard and strengthening himself. He wasn't just planning for the pit fights he was scheduled for, however. He had resolved to free himself in some way and every day sought a new way out. As his name soon spread among the nobles of Valore, Gallow's status and worth grew exponentially. His slaver, tired of dealing with a stubborn, headstrong slave sold him for a hefty profit.

He was soon bought by Lady Scarlette of House Ardor along with another pit fighter, Jenko. Gallow's dreams of escaping the confines of slavehood soon become muddled after developing a friendship with the Appaloosa cross stallion. On top of it all, Gallow is now branded with the sigil of the city, forever proclaiming him a slave of Aodh. His heart weakened but not snuffed out, he still keeps hope of freedom.
