The mini-magnets were elated (and I was flat-out shocked) to discover that they have 500 amazing watchers, six months into their mini-magnetic adventure. They poked me and said, "We ought to celebrate these fine people, you know."

I quite agreed. The question then became: How ought we to celebrate? :plotting:

We could hold a contest, but then we'd have to pick something that was "the best." Best-ness is a tricky business with art-n'-writing, being, as they are, highly subjective. And we could hold a raffle, but those are kind of boring, because you don't really get to play. You just sit there and wait for a name to be drawn.

After much mini-magnetic discussion, the solution became obvious: we ought to hold a contesty-raffley celebration thingy.

Bullet Blue Bullet; Red :bademoticon:  PRIZES BEING: :bademoticon: Bullet; Red Bullet Blue

1ST Place: 500 points

2ND Place: 350 points

3RD Place: 150 points

Bullet Blue Bullet; Red :bademoticon: A "CONTESTY-RAFFLEY CELEBRATION" BEING: :bademoticon: Bullet; Red Bullet Blue

You get to Create Something, like you would for a contest. But you get to skip the part where you gnaw your fingernails down to their beds, freaking out about having to Be The Best -- because your Creation automatically enters you in the raffle. The idea is to have actual fun Creating your Something-of-Any-Quality. Yay.

Winners shall be chosen by an online name-chooser like random-ize.com. First name = 1st place, second name = 2nd place, and third name = (gasp) 3rd place.

Bullet Blue Bullet; Red :bademoticon: HOW TO PLAY: :bademoticon: Bullet; Red Bullet Blue

(Note: The mini-magnets wanted to play, too. So I obliged.)

Step the First: Create Something (anything) inspired by a mini-magnetic piece of your choice.

Step the Second: Post it with a link to this journal (and the mini-magnetic piece that inspired it) in the deviation description.
And also send me a link to the deviation, just in case the notification alert of your Creation doesn't make it to my inbox.

Step the Third: I'll feature your Creation here for all to admire, and you'll be entered in the raffle.

Bullet Blue Bullet; Red :bademoticon: SUBMIT YOUR CREATION BY: :bademoticon: Bullet; Red Bullet Blue

October 6, 2015
(that's three weeks of time to Create Something)

Bullet Blue Bullet; Red :bademoticon: A SMATTERING OF SMALL RULES: :bademoticon: Bullet; Red Bullet Blue

:bademoticon: You must be a watcher to enter (since we are celebrating watchers, after all).

:bademoticon: If you've Created Something inspired by mini-magnets in the past, you can enter it!
Just note me to let me know which piece you want to throw into the ring.

:bademoticon: One raffle entry per watcher.
(Though if you somehow end up Creating multiple Somethings,
I will happily feature all of them in this journal, owing to the fact that you are So Cool.)

Bullet Blue Bullet; Red :bademoticon: Below are some examples of Creations inspired by the mini-magnets. :bademoticon: Bullet; Red Bullet Blue

(Psst, everyone on this list: I am entering you automatically in the raffle. Drop me a note if you object!)

oceans from tidepoolsdreamer; you might feel
lost at sea but guidance
has always been within
you; you will find shore
soon enough.
you can look to the stars
all night but they may
never hold the answers,
you can pray to your gods
and to your earth but
they might never write back
because, dreamer, you are
your own force of nature
you are the captain, and
you have never been lost.

tasting like secretsshe smells of breathless possibility
and tastes like secrets
if you care enough to notice things
other than her honey-laced articulation,
her pink blanket emitting teenage inquisition
and how she laughs at herself heartily
whenever she makes the mistake of caring too much;
she watches her heart smashing into smithereens
and ends up breaking down at the bathroom corner
two hours have passed & nobody helps her up
but "it's okay. I'm strong enough to face this."

canorousmy deepest sympathy
for your broken strings
tethered to
a drifting heart,
sweet violin; your melody
was not meant for the young hearts
breathing fire into yours,
but play it again, i implore you,
let your soft ballad reach
into the caverns of a heart aged
beyond its years
by fire and ice and heavy ropes,
it eases the aches and pains
i carry, and that
is as precious a gift
as any hurried bouquet
of 'i love you's –
tie your strings together, please,
and pull this shiver of bliss
into a lengthening moment
of canorous peace.

A Tale of Darkness and LightA soul  moves  forward  searching for a  breech
In the  branches and  clouds  on darkest  night.
It gropes with  fingers that never quite  reach,
Stumbling  on blindly for  dawn's  orange light.
Darker than  pitch,  forest and night  close in,
Engulfing  the  trav'ler's  small  meager  lamp.
Night steals its flame and the hope held within
Covering    the   soul   in   deepening    damp.
As the trav'ler fell,  it's face by mud blurred,
There  came a  voice  like  a storm  from  afar.
It  echoed  deeply,  but more  felt than  heard,
"My  dear,   take  my  compass  made  of  stars.
Follow   its  needle   down  a   moonbeam  path
To  its   conclusion   at  a   sun  light  bath."

The name of sun-born iceI am the suns daughter
yet I am cold.
How can this be?
I am old as the universe
yet I am still a child.
Why?
What lies deep beneath
my sunken heart
has not yet been named.
Its proud and ice-cold cracks
cover every pulsing vein
that should rush my boiling blood.
My power isn't
my fiery beauty or
my blazing words.
My words are
like steel
covered in ice-flowers.
Mother,
embrace me
and answer my question:
Who is my father?
Whose fault is my
ambivalent nature?
Don't worry,
I won't blame.
I just want to understand.
For I have to find
my name
before I search for love.
Or are you
able to understand
me?
To understand why hot breaths
on your skin
follow icy touches?
I don't want to hurt
you
but my ice-walls blurr my sight.
I am unable to feel
hot or cold
'cause I am both.
The snow storms
want to play.
I am afraid they will bury you.
My burning skin
needs your touch.
I am afraid you'll burn to ashes.
Isn't love the link between
my sides?
Please, show me.
This is me,
a living flame,
untouchable.

Daily Poem #45 - where dusk meets dawnWhen I met you
I had already wandered this world
for aeons untold.
Always pondering
the whats
and the whys
and the hows,
of all things in existence (and beyond).
Yet every discovery,
each breakthrough
and world-changing insight
left nothing but a stale taste in my mouth.
For what is knowledge,
no matter how important,
without a kindred mind
to share it with?
Insignificant,
devoid of meaning.
But all of this would change
with you -
you who loved discussing
w h i s p e r e d  secrets and
untold mysteries
until the break of day.
A whole new world opened up for the two of us -
one where solving mysteries became
not just a purpose,
but an adventure.
Two minds rising,
\\ s o a r i n g //
as birds do;
reaching unprecedented heights
from where everything
seemed possible.
And it was today that I finally realized
just how much I had fallen for you -
We climbed the highest cliff in sight,
one at the edge of day,
and you boldly spoke to me:
Come sit with me

Still Dreaming/Just AwakeWe dance and sway in harmony
Upon the backs of my eyelids
When, suddenly,
The sun reminds me of the time;
Slurred words struggle to keep this dream mine.
And as I awake to the approaching dawn,
You see my face twitch and
Pull me in for a kiss.

Fear Not the Dark"Fear not the dark."
a whispered voice
drifted into my head.
By candle's glow
there's only stillness
blanketing my bed.
"I'm here for you."
"Be calm my friend."

soothing my self-esteem.
After some weeks
this welcome voice
guided my nightly dream.
My daily trials
no longer drained
my energy renewed.
I thought it odd
my skin-tone sank
into a paler hue.
One restless night
woke with a start
cat hissing on the floor.
"It's almost time."
growled from behind
the creaking closet door.

Relief
These mountains, the weight of this great terra.
Rigid are they for they are the hearts of the people.
There insults, their lies, their tormenting gaze peering….
I wish for sleep, I yearn for dreams, but I this will not be.
Can the tears of heaven, the frost of snow
Please, oh please let it erode, let it tear through
This mountain of spite, hatred and vile
That I may gain a good night’s rest
I only wish for a while.
My mind broken, I cannot break free
These earthen chains, forever they will bind me
Cursed fate, may this mountain soon be slain.
So that I will quite surely gain…
Sweet Relief.

SeasickOn the first day, they thought it was just a whim of a teenage girl. Two days after she returned from a boat trip with her dad and her brother, Katie had climbed into the tree house and refused to come down (except for answering the call of nature). She wouldn't even stay inside the house for her meals, just take them with her or wait for someone else - usually her mother - to bring them to her.
On the second day, her parents started worrying. Mostly because the nights were getting colder now, and even though Katie had a sleeping bag and several blankets with her, they felt like they had to make sure she was okay. Physically and mentally.
"You alright, sweetie? We're getting a little worried. The nights are gettin' cold, you know? If you need anything, just say it - or come inside. You don't have to freeze out here." An awkward silence was all that her father would get as an answer. "Well, in any case, you know where to find us", he said and closed the patio door behind him.

BellsSound the bells!
The queen is coming!
Make her want to stay
Quick! The bells!
The laughing ones!
To chase the gloom away
We'll ring them through the day and night
We'll sound them in the morn
We'll play our finest for the queen
Our bells she'll never scorn!

Give me back my breath!„Give me back my breath!“
He could still hear the words screamed after him.
Every syllable echoed in his ears even as he reached his destination. He closed the door and leaned against the dark wood seperating him from the outside world.
In here everything that happened on the other side was nonrelevant. People who lived out there would never know why he needed their breath.
They would not understand...
As the words subsided he straightened his back and walked down the narrow corridor. The only light came from the ceiling-bugs. Creatures who lived from the minerals found in the stones sorrounding him on his way deeper into the ground.
His way brought him to a little room filled with vials. Some really tiny, others a bit bigger. All of them found their homes on shelves which filled every wall, a few were even hanging from the ceiling.
He opened his coat and pulled out the new vials. With a flick of his fingers a small lamp donated its light so that he could examine his new ac

Red Blossoms BloomI'm...
Drowning...
While my hands...
Are holding on to the knife...
That's deep inside of my chest...
As I keep losing strength...
By the second...
I look up...
To see him...
Watching me fall into darkness...
As my blood is...
...
Why...
Did I promise Kevin...
To make his garden bloom?
I swear,
If I didn't say yes...
Then I...
Would be alive...
I wouldn't be dying,
Nor would I be feeling pain...
While slipping away...
Into the bottom...
Of this lake...
Kevin...
This is what you wanted though...
Right?
To watch the Red...
Blossoms rise...
While I...
Slowly...
But surely...
Die.
