Here's a little tip for ombre effects it that was what you were trying to go for on the wings:
Don't use pencil or airbrush. Use curve tool, marker, and crayon. Use the marker to get a mixture of the colors you're trying to fade into each other, then switch to the curve tool to make a separate section for it. Repeat with the same color you just used, and so on. Make sure to keep a swatch at the side so it's easier to get to the colors. Next, use the crayon tool with each of those colors. You'll want a copy of your character before you started to do the ombre so that you can place that over the finished area.

You can see the slight fade from green to coral on her wings. This was done using the exact same trick I just told you about.
