Strengths:
+Kohaku’s a headstrong individual, so she’s always stubborn to give up when it comes to dueling, despite the fact that she tells others to give up with ease.
+She is willing to accept responsibility for her actions when she knows she’s at fault.
+A kid that can get the job done when put to the test.
Weaknesses:
-She has an abnormal fear for cute little birdies.
-Kohaku has terribly bad luck when it comes to sandwich picking.
-Bad at reading the atmosphere.
Personality:
Kohaku is a serious-minded individual that takes great pride in herself. Her pride means almost everything to her, and she’s always determined to hold up her reputation.
A realist that doesn’t believe in illogical things such as ‘duel spirits’ and ‘heart of the cards’.
She’s a highly confident duelist with the belief that dueling is a way to express one’s strength. Winning meant that they were strong; losing meant that they were weak.
Her pride is also her downfall, as it can lead her to be rather conceited. Also, she tends to be insensitive and callous towards other people.
After becoming friends with Juudai, her character begins to be more accepting and dismisses her original belief of dueling.
Biography:
Kohaku’s mother passed away when she gave birth to her, thus she had no siblings and lived with only her father. Her father, Mr. Shirosaki, was a card designer - he was the one who introduced duel monsters to Kohaku. As a child, she was a lot more cheerful and loved to collect duel monster cards. Mr. Shirosaki was hired to join Industral Illusions, thus he moved to America with Kohaku, where she spent her childhood.

Kohaku often watched Seto Kaiba on TV and never missed a single tournament he participated in. Because of his strength and cool personality, Kaiba became her figure of admiration. When she was 9-years old, her father took her back to Japan to watch one of Kaiba’s tournaments in person, where she received the card ‘Kaibaman’ from Kaiba himself. At this point, she could see duel spirits and often conversed with Kaibaman. However, as she grew older, she didn’t believe in supernatural things such as ‘duel spirits’, thus came to the conclusion that Kaibaman was just a figment of her imagination the whole time.

As time passed, Kaiba found that she had talent for dueling, hence he decided that Kaiba Corporation would sponsor her and helped nurture her to become an excellent duelist. Kaiba became her mentor and trained her to use Kaibaman to its full capacity, and as a result, she mastered the way of Blue-Eyes and became known as “Kaiba’s Successor”.

Originally Kohaku was a young aspiring duelist that dueled competitively in the Pro Leagues, however she was ordered by Kaiba to enroll into Duel Academy for the sake of observing the main branch school without arousing suspicion. (And let’s face it, Kaiba’s got better things to do than to watch kids play children’s card games.) ( )

However, since she was a well-known duelist, she had to disguise herself as a boy when she transferred, as to avoid recognition.
After observing the academy for a year (season 1), she became quite fond of the academy and decided to stay there until she graduated. During the start of the second year, she announced that she was actually a female, despite this - she still referred to herself as “Ore” and doesn’t change to the female uniform.

Deck(s):
~Prior to Duel Academy~
[Eternal Flames] Dragon Beatdown Deck
Kohaku used to use a Dragon-type beatdown deck which focused on decreasing the opponent's Life Points as quickly as possible.

~Season 1 & 2~
[Horus Lockdown] Dragon Deck
As to not be recognized in Duel Academy, Kohaku changed her deck and key card to Horus. This deck mainly focuses on locking down the opponent's options and ability to use monster, spell and trap cards.
[White Illumination] Light-type Deck
During the Society of Light Arc, Kohaku’s deck changes when brainwashed by the Society of Light. The deck mainly focuses around light archetype monsters, and her two trump cards are Blue-Eyes White Dragon & Blue-Ice White Nights Dragon.

~Season 3 & 4~
[R-HERO STRIKE!] Rising Hero Deck – Not yet released.
[Revenge HERO] Revenge Hero Deck - Not yet released.
Kohaku’s deck drastically changes in Season 3 and onwards. After observing many of both Juudai and Edo’s duels, she found a new aspiration, and specifically asked Maximillion Pegasus to create a new breed of heroes for her, named “Rising HERO”
 (Japanese: ・HERO、ライジング・ヒーロー、Raijingu Hīrō).

Relationships:
Juudai Yuki
At first, Kohaku hated Juudai’s guts. He was persistent and wouldn’t stop annoying her. She didn’t understand why everybody thought there was something special about this guy. Though Kohaku didn’t want to admit it at first, eventually they became friends, after she realized he wasn’t so bad after all. As it turns out, he was the first one to discover that he was actually a she, thus he kept her secret until the second year. She gradually begins to develop feelings for him - however she’s constantly friendzoned by him, as Juudai doesn’t even know what love is, much to her disappointment.

Edo Phoenix
Edo was Kohaku’s childhood friend during her time in America; Kohaku’s father was friends with Edo’s father, as they were both colleagues at the same workplace, so they introduced their kids to each other, seeing as how they were around the same age. At the start, there were many issues with the language barrier between Edo (English) & Kohaku (Japanese), despite this, they became close friends until Kohaku moved back to Japan, much to his dismay. Edo constantly gets annoyed at Juudai because he feels that Juudai doesn’t deserve Kohaku’s affection; he treasures Kohaku as an important friend.

Trivia:
-Kohaku is regarded as one of Duel Academy’s top duelists; she not only excels in dueling, but in her studies as well.
-Kohaku’s name means ‘Amber’; she was named this because her mother’s favourite colour was amber.
-A Japanese-born child, but moved to America, where she met Edo Phoenix. At the age of 9, she moved back to Japan.
-Kohaku has won many duel tournaments as a Pro Duelist, before enrolling to Duel Academy.
-She disguises herself as a boy for the first season, but by the second season it is officially revealed that she is a girl.
-She holds great admiration towards Seto Kaiba.
-Kohaku is a representative of Kaiba Corporation; Kaiba Corp also sponsors her as a Pro Duelist.
-Her fear of cute little birds was due to a ‘traumatic incident’ when she was young. ( ゚▽゚)
