Once upon a time insects and other small critters were nothing but a little problem to us, they crawled around their little world and we were their biggest fear.
No one remembers what happened, but trees began to grow until they touched the sky, the air has never been so clean. What we didn't know was that those small creatures we didn't care about were following the trees. In decades they grew to be higher and stronger than us or any other animal, so we became the ones crawling in fear.
Life was scary, poor and short, until one fateful day our people found Arakne. She was the first of our predators to show mercy to us, to show a spark of intelligence and love. She gave us the most important task in exchange of her help, to take care of her newborn prole and protect it against the insects. We became her children along with the spiders, protecting each other against the world that turned against us.
What you see today in the Citadel is nothing but what we, spiders and people, created during and after the centuries of the blessed life of our mother Arakne, who now rests in the shiny sanctuary under our home.


The 8 fundaments of the Citadel, that like legs keep it strong above the dangers of the Forest, are the most important rules of the society and there's a sort of religion-cult around Arakne's crypt.
The fundaments are:
-Unity, because we are one with our Mother Arakne and her children.
-Loyalty, because we must sustain one another.
-Courage, because our hearts are strong.
-Trust, because we must shield each other's weaknesses.
-Knowledge, because knowing our land is a duty and a honor.
-Goodness, because our Mother has been good to us.
-Endurance, because we can't let anything stop us.
-Strength, because it's our only weapon against the World.
