Foxpaw || SkyClan || FotC

Thrushcall was a loyal but always ever curious she-cat of SkyClan. She took to getting closer and closer to the watery ThunderClan border day by day, lured towards Twoleg place and what unknown adventures it may have to offer. Her own parents had always warned her of the strange soft cats that lived there but Thrushcall didn't put much thought into that at the time. She was pulled by some unknown urge to explore the territory that did not belong to her. 

It wasn't that the warrior wanted to leave her home and family but she was ready for something new. Her brother, Russettail, warned her against these thoughts when she voiced them to him but Thrushcall's mind was made up by the time he got to her. 

However, once she arrived in Twoleg place Thrushcall began to realize her mistake. These cats were not very friendly to newcomers, especially to those "wild forest cats" as they saw her upon arrival. Thrushcall's resolve was beginning to break. Why had she come all the way out here on a whim? Would she find a twoleg and live a soft cushy life that every clan cat looked down upon? 

Feeling embarrassed and lonely the light brown she-cat made her way over a fence and into the garden behind a twoleg den. Unbeknownst to her an almost equally curious kittypet lived there who came out to investigate the intruder. 

Arthur was both kind and polite and invited her inside to share his food and comfy cozy nest with her, Thrushcall felt safe and at home around this tom. She trusted him almost immediately.
And so she stayed with Arthur for many moons. He told her that his "housefolk" had gone on a "vacation" and they were sure to like her and welcome her when they returned. 

Thrushcall was already expecting kits when the twolegs came home. She was excited to meet them but when they saw the strange cat they became angry and started shouting at her. Thrushcall, fearful and alarmed at their refusal, fled through the small door that led to the garden and took refuge in one of the bushes where she stopped to catch her breath. 

Arthur followed soon after, apologizing with every breath and giving his mate comforting licks between her ears. Knowing that they could not go back to the den the two decided it would be safer to raise their kits somewhere else. 

So the trek back to SkyClan began as it was the only place that Thrushcall knew to go. She desperately hoped that they could find Russettail and that he might take pity on her. 

In the end Thrushcall gave birth to two beautiful ginger kits that looked very much like their father, Cardinalkit the she-kit and Foxkit the tom. 

But merely a few days later Thrushcall discovered a problem. She wasn't producing anymore milk for them for some reason. Cardinalkit was very thin and sickly by the time that Arthur was able to find Russettail and alert him of his sister's situation.

Russettail advised that they leave the two with him. They deserved a good life in SkyClan and it was clear that neither Thrushcall nor Arthur could provide for the two kittens. Thrushcall was aware that she would not be allowed back into the clan that she herself abandoned and so with a very heavy painful heart she agreed to let her brother take them. 

Arthur attempted to argue with Russettail and the disagreement nearly ended in a fight before Thrushcall put and end to it. She reminded him that they didn't really have much of a choice at that point. 

Russettail promised to keep in touch and that was the last that either parents saw of their children, whisked away be the dark ginger SkyClan warrior. 

 Foxkit's clanmates were suspicious from where he and Cardinalkit came from from the moment Russettail stepped foot into camp with the two mewling bundles. He lied skillfully and claimed them as his own, saying that their mother would remain unknown and that he regretted greatly the betrayal towards his clan but that his kits were important as well and that he would not stand to see them anywhere else. 

Begrudingly they were put in the nursery with a kind queen who's kits had been stillborn. She was elated at the sight of the two and welcomed them despite the fact that they were not hers. 

Foxkit grew rapidly, Cardinalkit much slower. She was always the more sickly of the two. But Foxkit was a polite and kind little kit that almost every SkyClan cat came to find charming and lovable in some way or other. He was happy here surrounded by friendly faces and warmth that his foster mother provided.
Russettail watched over him with pride that any real father would have.
