Veron

Veron glanced around impatiently. He was only looking for one wolf. His brother who had led him to the sucess he had now, well a wolf he thought was his brother. Veron and Rheagen hadn't seen each other for months up until this war. Veron, now in his prime of his youth, never wanted to betray his friend and only wanted to be great in Rheagen's eyes.

He spotted the wolf, quickly sliding away from his packmate's watchful eyes."Rheagen..." He spoke soft, and unsure, much like he did when the two first met.

Rhaegan

It had been unavoidable, but still Rhaegan cringed as a familiar voice called out to him from behind. Veron. Veron who had turned his back on everything Rhae had taught him about loyalty. About honour. Growling, and wincing as the motion pulled at the angry wounds along his muzzle, Rhaegan turned stiffly to cast his red glare across the younger wolf. "I have nothing to say to you, blackguard."

Veron

Veron frowned, but continued to pursue the conversation. He knew the real Rheagen he had loved was in there somewhere, but this was not him. "Rheagen please..." He muttered, quickly rushing towards Rheagen and stopping in front of him, not allowing his former friend to walk forward. Veron stared at Rheagen, both of their scars catching the moonlight shimmering on Vale. "Why do you hate?" He asked, his heart breaking in every word.

Rhaegan

With a deepening snarl, Rhaegan bristled as the Vektreni cut him off. A thin line of blood trickled from the gash along his eye, a red tear against the rogue's dark fur. I knew you were soft, whelp, but I never took you for a fool... Why did he 'hate'? Was it not obvious? Shaking his head, Rhaegan scowled, bitterness dripped off his tongue like poison, "Have you forgotten? I taught you better than to pledge ties to a viperess and a witch."

Whatever kinship they had, Veron had cast it aside in turning to Vektren. Joining their ranks was nothing short of a betrayal. Turning again, Rhaegan tried to circumvent his old ward, and continue on his way. "You made your choice. Now you must live with it."

Veron

Veron attempted to stammer a few words out, but stopped and shut his mouth completely. "Rheagen...she has taken me in and made me apart of something."He raised his head, and proudly claimed his title. "I'm a theta, of a pack I can call my own." He slowly took a step closer to his beloved Rheagen. He took several steps after him, quickly following after the wolf who had stowed him away. "Rheagen, I refuse to give up on your friendship, and I refuse to die with you hating me."He stood his ground, his red eyes staring down Rheagen.

Rhaegan

Truly angry now, Rhaegan's red eyes flashed dangerously. "Part of something?" He spat, "You were my brother. Stallion was my great foe, and you chose his kinship over mine. Stand aside, theta. Claim lives for petty gain and sell your honor to a shadow. But don't expect any welcome from me."

Too much had happened in too little time, and the earthen rogue's nerves were spent. He could not begin to think of bridging the gap his old ward had torn between them. Rhaegan couldn't even bring himself to consider forgiving Veron for choosing Vektren over himself. This was blow too deep, and the youth's flustered attempts to heal it was like salt on the wound.

"Stand aside, I won't warn you again." Every inch of Rhaegan's posture warned Veron that he would make good on his threat.

Veron

Veron ignored Rheagen's warnings, standing his ground against his angry friend. "You can kill me, but I'm going to spend every last breathe telling you how important you are to me." He flattened his ears, lowering his tail, both holding the gaze between him and his brother. "I cannot spend another second of my life, being hated by the wolf who raised me. What do you need from me?" He asked, his voice shivering, but he continued to hold his ground.

Rhaegan

Rhaegan lunged. His bloodied body roared in protest but the rogue was beyond feeling physical pain now. His red maw closed on the fur around Veron's neck as he attempted to throw the youth to the ground. Spitting out a mouthful of red foam, Rhaegan snarled, "Are you deaf, wretch? There is nothing I need from you! Nothing! We are not brothers any longer. We will never be brothers again. If you have any care for what was, respect it now by leaving it's memory unsullied, and do not speak to me again!" Shoving Veron roughly aside, Rhaegan limped into the shadows of Vale's woodland. He needed to be alone.
