Oh boy oh boy oh boy, this is something I want to talk about. Where do I even begin? So my brother has been recommending to me Warframe for the longest time, but I didn't get around to getting it. But just the other day he showed me some game play... I was hooked. I was especially hooked when I learned it is available on PS4 (my laptop isn't the strongest just in case you're wondering). Plus the game being free to play which gets around the PlaystionPlus multiplayer requirement on PS4 sweetened the deal even more.

Oh my god I F***ING LOVE this game. But where to start?

Game play:

This game is a co-op third person shooter/hack-and-slash online "free to play" game. It's nothing special, but it works...at least from my experiences it has worked so far and I have been playing it for the past three days. The game naturally allows you to build and upgrade equipment and I think it's handled fairly well. You have to wait until you unlock different locations (you're in outer space, so you visit planets in our solar system) to get certain items, so it might be a little bit before you build your second Warframe. But playing with other people will speed this along nicely. Speaking of playing with other people, there a lot of missions you can go solo on. There are some levels that require other players, but that's to be expected. I've found that you can complete a lot of missions with the base gear (with upgrades which are easy to get of course). But jumping back to items, this game does have drop rates and yes, you can end up getting dupes... which is actually not a bad thing because you can sell these dupes for the game's currencies.

I think the game play is solid. We'll be covering more in a bit, however.

The Levels:

The levels look pretty good and I think they are set up nicely. However, you will see some levels repeated on different planets. Also apparently all of Earth is a Jungle now...even Everest. But to be fair the game is online co-op. I can give it pass, but I hope the Dev of the game eventually gets the chance to add a little more diversity to the levels.

Graphics:

They look pretty good. I haven't taken a second to stop and look (kind of hard to with the Corpus and Grineer shooting at you), but they look pretty good from what I have seen so far. Now you may see a few graphical glitches here and there, but what do you expect? The game is online all the time and it is Free to Play. Not everything is going to be perfect, so I can give the game a pass in this aspect. Also I think the game does a good job with the planets as seen from space. You can see Jupiter's gas clouds moving. Also, Saturn's rings look breath taking.

The story:

You're apart of a faction referred to as "Tenno" and you're trying to reclaim the solar system from two rival factions: The Corpus and The Grineer. You also have to worry about a hive-mind race referred to as the infested (you can probably already imagine what they are like). You go all across the solar system in your quest to reclaim it.

I think it's pretty good. I don't know how original it is (I don't play that many video games), but I like it. Also I freaking love the concept of the Warframes.

The online play:

It's pretty good. You might run into a few problematic players here and there, but that can happen in any online game. Plus I have only run into one potentially incompetent player so far.

And like I said before: the co-op  makes the game easy and enjoyable. Plus it is fun to play with other players. I always get this feeling that we are a united team... even when one of us lags behind.

The Micro-transactions:

The devs have handled the micro-transactions well. You can get the vast majority of the game's warframes through normal game play which can be made easy and quick by cooperating with other players. Heck, as I said in the game play section, you can solo a good amount of missions with the BASE GEAR. I only bought platinum (the game's MT currency) because I felt like it. I technically didn't need it. Yes, the game does have wait times for building items. But what are you doing playing Warframe all day when you probably have something else you can do in the meantime? Like SLEEP, or SCHOOL, or HOMEWORK, or TAKING A SHOWER, or INTERACTING WITH YOUR FIENDS AND FAMILY. And like I said: The base gear is pretty good. And you can co-op with other players.

In short: Digital Extremes, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

Warframe is a game that is too good to be true, but it is actually true. I freaking love this game and if you're into third person shooters, GO DOWNLOAD IT NOW. Seriously, it is completely free to Download. Have a PS4, decent PC, or XBOX One? Then go download it. You will not regret it if you do.
