Get it off my face!

Olivia had been growing incredibly fast. Her withers were beginning to look more level with her hindquarters, and she had been throwing her weight around. She was fully aware that she was growing, and she was taking full advantage of it. Rosalie had to do something soon, otherwise she'd have a huge Lapsequine wreaking havoc. 
"Hey Olivia" Rosalie said, approaching the gate to Olivia's field "I promise it won't be too bad."
She pulled out a carrot from behind her back and waved it in the yearlings face. All of her horses were suckers for treats and she knew Olivia would follow the treat without question. Rosalie unlocked the gate and opened it slightly to let Olivia free from the field. She was given the carrot and a rub on her forehead. Rosalie pulled out half an apple from her coat pocket, and began leading Olivia away from her field with the apple once she had locked the gate. Olivia trotted along, no questions asked, with a joyful expression on her face. She was lead to her stable where it had been filled with a fresh straw bedding, a lot of hay, and a water bucket, as Olivia was going to be in there for at least a few hours. 
Rosalie shut the mare in the stable and grabbed the yellow headcollar from the hook on the outside of the stable. She let herself in with Olivia and gave her the half apple. 
"What's this sweetie" she asked the mare, quietly. Holding the headcollar to Olivia's nose, she was allowed to sniff it, and put her mouth around it just while she figured out what it was. Rosalie took the headcollar and begun rubbing it on Olivia's withers. Olivia's expression was priceless, a certain "what on earth are you doing?" look stuck on her face. She didn't seem phased by the headcollar however so Rosalie moved up to her neck, and begun moving the headcollar around, and messing with the buckles. The yearling turned her huge rabbit ear to listen to what was happening, and just stood, rather patiently for once. 
Rosalie begun holding the headcollar against the side of Olivia's face, focusing on her muzzle as that would be the first area to go on. Still confused as to exactly what was going on, she started to kick her paws around a little. She didn't look very happy, but she'd be fine once she got used to the feel of it on her face. Rosalie took the noseband part of the headcollar and slipped it over the mare's muzzle. Olivia pulled back slightly and backed herself up trying to raise her head, while Rosalie followed holding the headcollar on her muzzle. She soon calmed down, and the headcollar was removed. Olivia's large ears perked forwards. Rosalie took the headcollar again and slipped the end on to Olivia's muzzle. There was much less a reaction this time, and it didn't take long for the headcollar to be removed again. The sweet mare was staring intently, trying to figure out what was going on, and what she was meant to do. Rosalie slipped the headcollar on the mares muzzle once more, and moved to a better position to allow her to grab the part that would go behind the Lapsequines ears. Ears shot in Rosalie's direction and Olivia started to get a bit impatient. Rosalie buckled up the headcollar, and gave the mare a rub in her neck, and a small carrot from her pocket.
"Clever girl" she praised as she rubbed Olivia's forehead.
Just as Rosalie was leaving the stable, she heard a huge thump behind her to find that Olivia had decided to lie down, and was rubbing her head against the straw. Rosalie giggled a little and decided to watch for a while. She rubbed the headcollar for a few minutes before giving up, huffing out a huge sigh, and flopping her head down on the bedding.
"Such a drama queen" Rosalie giggled.
