Chime Points


Why is it called Chime?
--- When a Quirlicorn is born into the world, a special set of wind chimes is dedicated to their growth and development. A testament to their personalities and powers. Each Magical Region may have a specific type of wind chimes they use for identifying each individually and to differentiate themselves from each other. By no means does this mean there is a lack of diversity among the chimes! Quirlicorns may choose to stylize their set of chimes however they see fit so long as it still resembles their Regions magic!

What are Chime Points?
--- Chime Points are an art based reward system we use to help give a Quirlicorn Achievements, Status, and Perks! These can be earned by reaching certain Levels of Chime with a Quirlicorn, unlocking new goodies with each new level gained.

What are the Magical Regions?
--- The Magical Regions, or Regions, are the areas in which the Quirlicorns magics are rooted. Each Region has their own specific type of magic associated with them, which can be harnessed through leveling up a Quirlicorns Chimp Points. For more information, please see the Regional Magics journal.

Does a Quirlicorn have to live in their selected Region?
--- Not at all! A Quirlicorn may choose to live in any Region or Regions they desire! The only benefit of being in the Magical Region the Quirlicorns power comes from, would be a slight amplification of their magical powers. 

How does a Quirlicorn pick a Region?
--- If a Quirlicorn is an Anomaly/Mutation or effected by the Wandering Spirit Dew, they will be All Regions! This means a Quirlicorn may pick magic from any Region they desire! However, if a Quirlicorn is without one or all of these, they may select a singular Region only. If a Quirlicorn is an Import they may pick from any one Region they desire! If a Quirlicorn is a bred foal, they may only select from the Regions of their parents. If one or both of the foals parents are 'All Regions' they may select any one Region they desire.

What is the best way to keep track of a Quirlicorns Chime?
--- The owner is responsible for keeping track of a Quirlicorn's Chime and sending notes to the group for Chime Checks. The owner may keep track of the Quirlicorn's Chime Points in an organized journal, listing all art and literature of the Quirlicorn with specified amounts for each piece with a total listed for all the Chime Points earned. Example: Qurilicorn Chime Tracker Lay-Out Template


Earning Chime Points

How does a Quirlicorn earn Chime Points?
--- By drawing and writing about a Quirlicorn of course! The more art you create for a Quirlicorn, the faster they earn Chime and Level Up!

Are there any restrictions to earning Chime Points?
--- Yes, but only a few! 
------ Reusing art in multiple pieces will not be counted. This goes for both characters and backgrounds.
--------- Each background or character piece will only count ONCE EVER. 
------ Art made BEFORE the horses Registration will not be counted. This EXCLUDES Imports.
------ Photo-Manipulations may only count for Chime if proper stock sources are used. No movie frames, game screenshots, or other media will be allowed.
--------- There must be actual manipulation visible to have a Photo-Manipulation count. Pasting multiple stock files together without alteration will NOT count.

Are there restrictions on Collaborations/Role-Plays?
--- We encourage collaborating in all forms! Chimes are earned by the Quirlicorn, not by the art piece, so only the art created of the Quirlicorn will count for them. 
------ Role-Plays have a few specifications:
--------- If the Quirlicorn is evenly used throughout the entirety of role-play, they would gain the chime from the entirety of the role-play.
--------- If the Quirlicorn is only present for a section of the role-play, they only gain the Chime for their time in it. 
--------- If the Quirlicorn is MENTIONED it does not gain the Chime from the role-play. The Quirlicorn must be present to receive Chime.

--- Headshot Lineart - +01 Chime
------ Headshot is less than 50% of the body visible.

Examples:
Fullbody + Detailed Background would be 06 Chime Total

Literature Pieces
--- Every 250 Words - +01 Chime
------ 500 Words would be +02, 750 Words would be +03, 1000 Words would be +04, and so on.

Examples:
2567 Words + Fullbody + Detailed Background would be 16 Chime Total
325 Words + Headshot would be 03 Chimes Total


Special Chime
--- Familiar and Companion Bonus - +03 Chime
------ This is a flat amount regardless of how many Companions or Familiars are present in the image.
------ Bonus only applies to the Quirlicorn the familiar or companion belongs too.
------ Quirlicorn must be pictured with the familiar to earn Chime Points.
--- Training Image - +01 Chime
------ Any image showing a Quirlicorn training for a competition of any kind.
--- Show Image - +01 Chime
------ An Image made to participate in a Show or Event.
--- Placing Bonus - +02 Chime
------ Earned by a Quirlicorn for placing in a Show or Event
--- Affiliate Breed Bonus - +01 Chime
------ Earned by including a horse from a breed officially affiliated with Quirlicorns.

Examples:
Fullbody + Detailed Background + Familiar would be 09 Chime Total 
Fullbody + Detailed Background + Training Image would be 07 Chime Total

Unlocking Chime Levels

How do I unlock Chime Levels for a Quirlicorn?
--- By sending a 'Chime Check' note into the group! In this note, the group will need a few essential items, as well as information on what the Quirlicorn would desire to have with the Level that has been unlocked. The note should be formatted as such:

Chime Levels

20 Chime Points:
- Select Region for Quirlicorns~!
--- Imports may choose from any Region!
--- Bred Foals may only pick from either parents Region.
------ If one or both parent is 'All Regions', the foal may pick from any desired Region.
--- Anomalies/Mutations will be All Regions always.
- Select Quirlicorn's First Magic~!
--- Must be a Lesser Magic from the horses Region.
------ All Regions horses may pick ANY Region's Lesser Magic.

40 Chime Points:
- Natural Gene Addition~!
--- Any Natural Gene may be added to a Quirlicorn, so long as it doesn't affect the Extension (EE) or Agouti (AA) genes.
--- Ancients may add in one additional unnatural color to their coats if they so desire.
------ This does NOT include base coat mutations.
--- May NOT select an Anomaly/Mutation gene.
- Magic Levels Up~!
--- Quirlicorn's Lesser Magic Reaches Level 2 Power.
-+1 Chime to all Related Quirlies. (+1 Total Inherited Chime)
--- This applies only to ancestors and descendants. NOT SIBLINGS.

60 Chime Points:
- Small/Medium Familiar Earned~!
--- Familiar MUST be from the Quirlicorn's Region.
--- Familiar can be any living or extinct Small/Medium creature.
------ Small/Medium is defined loosely as a creature SMALLER than the Quirlicorn in both height and length.
--- Familiar MAY BE a creature from a closed species or unnaturally colored.
------ For this Level, the creature MAY NOT have any unnatural abilities or magics.
--- Familiar MAY NOT be a copyrighted character or species.
--- Familiar MAY NOT be a deity or god-like being.
- Lesser Dew Blessing~!
--- Select any Lesser Dew desired to be added to the bank!

80 Chime Points:
- Magic Levels Up~!
--- Quirlicorn's Lesser Magic Reaches Level 3 Power.
- Regional Form Unlocked~!
--- Form MUST belong to the Quirlicorn's Region.
--- All Regions horses may combine Regional Forms to their hearts desire.

100 Chime Points:
- Unlock Quirlicorn's Second 6 Breeding Slots~!
--- Total Base Breeding Slots for the Quirlicorn should now be 12.
- Select Quirlicorn's Second Magic~!
--- Must be a Greater Magic or Lesser Magic from the horses Region.
-+1 Chime to all Related Quirlies. (+2 Total Inherited Chime)
--- This applies only to ancestors and descendants. NOT SIBLINGS.

150 Chime Points:
- Mutation Gene Addition~!
--- One Recessive Mutation Gene of choice may be added to the Quirlicorn.
------ Retired genes may not be added unless the Quirlicorn already has one.
- Magic Levels Up~!
--- Quirlicorn's Greater Magic or Lesser Magic Reaches Level 2 Power.

200 Chime Points:
- Large/Mythical Familiar Earned~!
--- Familiar MUST be from the Quirlicorn's Region.
--- Familiar can be any living or extinct Large creature.
--- Mythical creatures can be of any size.
------ Large is defined loosely as a creature AS LARGE or LARGER than the Quirlicorn in both height and length.
--- Familiar MAY BE a creature from a closed species or unnaturally colored.
------ For this Level, the creature MAY have any unnatural abilities or magics.
--- Familiar MAY NOT be a copyrighted character or species.
--- Familiar MAY NOT be a deity or god-like being.
- Greater Dew Blessing~!
--- Select any Greater Dew desired to be added to the bank!

250 Chime Points:
- Magic Levels Up~!
--- Quirlicorn's Lesser Magic Reaches Level 3 Power.
- Select Quirlicorn's Third Magic~!
--- Must be a Greater Magic or Lesser Magic from the horses Region.
- Magic Levels Up~! - INSTANT MASTERY OF THIS MAGIC-
--- Quirlicorn's Lesser Magic or Greater Magic Reaches Full Power. 
------ Greater Magics gain their 2nd Level and Lesser Magics gain 2nd and 3rd Levels.
- Cursed Dew Blessing~!
--- Select any Cursed Dew desired to be added to the bank!

400 Chime Points:
- Unlock Quirlicorn's Third 6 Breeding Slots~!
--- Total Base Breeding Slots for the Quirlicorn should now be 18.

- Regional Magic Mastery
--- Able to dabble in all Lesser Magics (First Levels Only)

700 Chime Points:
- Astral Region Unlocked~!
--- Quirlicorn may pick an Astral Magic.
--- Demi-God Status Achieved.
- Any Dew Blessing~!
--- Select Any Dew desired to be added to the bank!
- Mutation Gene Addition~!
--- One Recessive Mutation Gene of choice may be added to the Quirlicorn.
------ Retired genes may not be added unless the Quirlicorn already has one.

1000 Chime Points:
- Deity Status Achieved~!
--- Quirlicorn now has a direct hand in the lore of their Region.
--- Quirlicorn will be granted a personal section of land.
--- Mastery over All Magic of a Region.
------ Must be magic from the horse's Region.
- Recessive Mutation Import Earned~!

02.17.16 General face-lift and overhaul of the Chime Point system is put into place.  Any Quirlicorns which have previously been confirmed for any level and wish to go ahead and get their Sacred Spirals and any of the newly added rewards, may have notes sent in to reconfirm your level(s).  Please note that such checks will not actually count up your Chime Point value but rather will confirm that certain levels have already been reached and previously confirmed and award extras and Sacred Spirals as appropriate.

Would we be allowed to keep chime trackers off-site, like on google sites, since the Eclipse journal system is clunky?
