SUPER SMASH BROS. Civil War
Chapter 15: Sunshine Airport

[Anti-Reg]
Sunshine Airport

Samus, Falcon, Marth, Falco, Palutena, Lucina, and Robin ran to the path to the airport, getting closer. Meanwhile, the rebels made it to their location. They saw a blue and white rundown Arwing, ready and left untouched.

“There she is. Now how are we going to get away without the other Smashers shooting us down with some kind of anti-aircraft missile,” Fox had anticipated.

“I think we can help you guys out,” a rebel soldier called out. Dozens of them came to their aid. “We’ll buy you time to get away.”

“Very well. My friends, I have an idea,” told Mario as everyone got into position before the registration forces could come. The rebels hid inside the abandoned airport while the lights were out.

“Did they rob the shipment of weapons like I asked?” Mario asked Fox.

“They sent me the message already. They’re in the clear. The distraction worked,” he said after looking at his smartphone. “From what I heard, those munitions had military-grade weapons and machines.”

“Could be a way to end this as fast as possible, but it’s only going to slow us down. We haven’t gained any victories since this war started; but, I got an idea: infiltrate the tower to find out what their war plan is. Get the upper hand on them,” Mario told his teammates.

The Mushroom Star locked on with their weapons awaiting the pro-reg Smashers atop of a deck.

The registered Smashers made it to the airport only to find the four leading rebels and several rebel soldiers, upon the deck floor of the airport.

“You’re surrounded. You’ve lost,” said Samus as the registrants pointed their weapons.

Mario smirked and replied, “This war is not over yet, and this will be the only victory you taste.”

More rebel troops jumped down from the second floor and surrounded the registered Smashers.

“Good luck, Mario,” a soldier gave a thumbs up. Listening to the soldier’s wishes, Mario and the others ran the opposite direction and straight to Fox’s Arwing. Fox opened up the cockpit and everyone tried to carefully squeeze in.

“No use. Ike and I will hold onto the jet,” said Mario as he and Ike grabbed on the wings while Fox and Zelda were inside the cockpit.

“Well, the Arwing hasn’t been this roomy before,” said Fox with sarcasm. Zelda looked at him and was flustered a bit. The Star Fox Arwing took off fast before anyone could shoot it down. Mario grunted while trying to hold on without falling off.

“Take us somewhere far and secluded off from town!” shouted Mario as the jet took off from the airport. Fox nodded and zoomed away.

Beyond the City

When they reached their destination far away from the city, everyone got off the jet and Mario discussed the plan to invade the Smash Tower once they were in the clear.

“So, we’re just gonna sneak inside and find out what they’ve got in store for us, right?” Fox wanted to confirm the next mission.

“Not exactly, we set the tower on lockdown and cut the power out,” said Mario.

“But we already know what we’re up against. You said something about ‘machines’, whatever that is,” thought Ike.

“Yeah, there’s that,” said Mario while trying to think.

Sitting down on a rock, Mario explained, “If we hadn’t stolen those weapons from them, our guys wouldn’t be well-equipped. But I realized conventional warfare ain’t gonna stop em’. So we try more stealth tactics to avoid any casualties. The subtle approach.”

“We may actually win this war. I hope the other Smashers join our side,” Zelda hoped. “Maybe even Peach would come to our side if Samus wasn’t pressuring her.”

“We don’t need the Princess or anyone else on our side until we push them back. We’ll persuade the people to vote for the end of registration. Then, they’ll listen to reason,” Mario responded as he stood up.

“You're right. We don’t need Peach or her soft and beautiful—” Fox said before he paused in embarrassment. “I mean, right. The subtle approach!”

“Are you in love with Peach, Fox?” Zelda asked out of curiosity.

“I… uh… what?! Course not,” Fox said blankly.

Mario knew he was lying.

“Don’t lie! So you were in love with Peach and didn’t say anything? How long did you keep this from us? From me?” Mario looked frustrated. “Explain. Now!”

“I don’t know. It was years ago around the time Master Hand came back, but it doesn’t matter now,” he confessed.

“Why not?” said Mario.

Fox looked away and turned back to his friends. “She broke my heart and made me realize… there’s no way she cares about me,” Fox replied.

“You knew Peach and I were together at the time but, you still fell for her?” said Mario but appearing more displeased. He couldn’t believe Fox, of all people, would actually have feelings for his ex-girlfriend. It was all just jokes and games at certain points now that he remembered, but he was actually hiding feelings.

“...Yes. I’ll tell you right now and I was in love with Peach. I know me and you have been like partners throughout these past adventures and so on, but…” shouted Fox with his heart pounding. “But things change. I won’t let that interfere in the mission. In fact, I don’t like her anymore.”

“I was losing my flame in Peach because of my need to fight for what’s right. I only thought of her as the close friend I bail out of trouble. Times are changing. If you don’t like her anymore, then that’s fine by me,” said Mario with a smile.

“Hm… So… shall we continue this war?” Fox felt empowered. He didn’t expect Mario to be that understanding.

“Of course,” the Italian nodded.

[Pro-Reg]
Sunshine Airport

After finishing the last of the Mushroom Star soldiers, the registrants were too late to stop the rebel Smashers who escaped without a trace.

“You have got to be kidding me! Of course, it looked like a distraction,” Samus shouted in anger.

“Hm, a ‘distraction’? You THINK?!” Palutena shouted right back. Samus was already irritated as it is.

“Me and you can go toe to toe right now. I don’t care if you’re a goddess. Try me,” Samus threatened the green haired goddess.

“There’s no time to be butting heads, ladies. We gotta focus on the mission,” argued Falco.

“I blame you! If you had your jet here, we would already have caught them by now,” accused Samus pointing at Falco.

“It’s still in repair after what happened in the Capitol,” Falco replied.

“As usual. Another excuse,” said Samus in a stern but sarcastic look.

“That’s just cold,” said Falco, looking away.

“Shall we go back to the tower now?” Lucina tapped her foot.

“You were not asked to speak,” shouted Samus, imitating a king’s voice. Lucina was already annoyed at the way her team behaved.

“Robin, you haven’t spoken yet. Why don’t you talk?” Samus turned to Robin.

“No more games,” Robin also looked annoyed.

“Fair enough,” said Samus.

“Let’s say you, Marth,” Samus referred to Marth. He crossed his arms.

“Aw, come on. I was trying to be friendly,” she said with laughter.

“That’s enough for today. Cool off, Samus. I mean it,” Cap patted her shoulder.

{One Day Later}
Smash Tower

After the registration forces failed to capture the rebel Smashers, they took a breather back at the tower and prepared for their next course of action. Samus removed her power suit and went to find Peach, who was resting her eyes. Samus woke her up.

“...What is it, Sammy?” whispered Peach while Samus was looking around to see if no one was watching.

“...I'm sorry about what I said. Be honest, do you really like Fox?” the bounty hunter questioned her with sincerity.

Peach was speechless but spoke. Both Peach and Samus kept their voices low.

“Well, he is fuzzy like a warm blanket. And he’s really nice to me. He can be a little funny. I don’t know,” said Peach, flustering red.

“You sure?” questioned Samus.

“I think he’s really sweet. And he’s also cute. Dear, I don’t know what I’m saying. I think I do like him. But, I don’t think we’ll get together. He’s probably not even into princesses anyways, unlike Fluffy who likes Rosie,” revealed Peach.

“Yeah, it’s a real shame. But don’t worry, I know he likes you back,” Samus told her with a smile.

“Just please don’t tell anyone, especially him, and don’t lock him up,” Peach almost bursted into tears.

“Alright, alright. I won’t say a thing, and I won’t try to hurt him. But if he does get caught and sent to jail, I’ll make sure you can talk to him,” Samus assured her.

“Thank you, Sammy,” Peach hugged Samus so tightly that she wouldn’t bother to let go.

“Hey, that’s what sisters are for,” Samus gleamed with happiness.

In a quick flash, the entire tower suddenly shut down, as well as the power supply and the lights. The tower then activated into lockdown, in which all entrances and exits are closed and the windows have been covered with iron walls, making the tower difficult to enter or leave.

“What the hell?” said Samus in confusion as Peach let go of her.

“Language, Sammy,” Peach reprimanded, still in surprise.

“It’s not too dark,” Samus pulled out a gun. “What’s going on?!”
