What... is the Lodestone Version Project?
A Generation VI-compatible, standalone Pokémon fan-game for the PC. 100% free to download, play, and share.
How... is it different from the official games produced by Nintendo and Game Freak?
The Lodestone Version Project takes place in an original region (Thule), located north of Kalos and based primarily on Scandinavia.
Besides the 700+ species and 18 types familiar to current Pokémon players, the Lodestone Version Project will introduce several dozen original Fakemon, including legendaries unique to Thule. Two popularly requested new types, Light and Sound, will appear in the game as well.
All Pokémon Gyms in this game will specialize in two complementary types, such as Grass/Bug or Fire/Steel...encouraging players to use more balanced teams and strategies as they earn each badge.
No WiFi connection is needed; in-game trade, pre-scripted gift events, and (eventual) player-submitted NPC battles will replace WiFi content.
Why... does this game need funding if you're distributing it as freeware?
Although I do have some of the required software and technical skill, I plan to include some original content which I am unable to design myself. The best way to have that content made? Show an artist my concepts and pay him/her to flesh them out. Except for the costs of shipping donor rewards (see the final section), nearly all funds for the Lodestone Version Project will go towards artists' commission fees.
