Personality
Engarde lives by his senses, keenly in tune with the physical realm more than the emotional. He gathers information and deals with it according to how he sees and feels about it and how it fits into his strong value system. If something doesn’t fit into that system or the overall goal, he’ll rebel against it.

This Bot tends to be reserved and difficult to understand. He’s apathetic to the difference between leading and being led, and usually holds back his ideas and opinions unless they’ll spur others to action. He’s constantly aggravated by stalemates and does his best to avoid them, doggedly pursuing whatever needs to be done. He’s been known to stay at his post until he physically can’t anymore.

He’s strongly aware of others’ wellbeing and will put everything he has into benefitting them; it’s his way of learning more about them, which can give him penetrating accuracy into his perception of them. Unfortunately he can be intensely perfectionistic about it and neglect himself completely, until he’s rundown and exhausted. Once it’s brought to his attention, he needs personal space to evaluate life against his values to be sure he’s living up to his own standards.

Engarde has a strong affinity for aesthetics, beauty, and uniqueness. He values people who take the time to try understanding and supporting him, but he finds it hard to trust them—mostly due to his curiosity. He needs a clear-cut view of their plans, how they apply to him, and if or how he can help.

Biography
Engarde had a solitary sparklinghood in his home city of Polyhex, educated at home by his creators, an artist and a medic. He greatly admired both practices and was considering the medical field, but he became popular for his imaginative art at a young age.

Since art was a pastime for him, he found himself rather uncomfortable with all of the attention he received, positive or negative, so he put the leisure pursuit on hold until the popularity died down and he could begin his medical studies in peace.

Around that time political tensions began to stir. Engarde’s sire was strongly opinionated and sided with Orion Pax in the matter; when Pax became Prime, his sire enlisted into the Autobots, eager to help with his medical skills. Upon receiving further training, he joined the Autobot Elite Guard.

Engarde took an interest in taking the same path as his sire but received a near-crippling emotional blow. By admitting his intentions to follow in his sire’s footsteps, he had inadvertently encouraged his cousin Elite Infinitum, who he considered more of a brother, to do the same. His uncle and cousin aligned themselves with the Decepticons. When he recovered from what both parties saw as the ultimate betrayal, Engarde became even more resolved to stand with the Prime. His carrier wanted nothing to do with the war and reluctantly fled the planet.

Engarde established himself easily as a scout, thanks to his attention to detail, and it wasn’t long before he was promoted to a warrior. During the promotional ceremony, word came that the base where his sire was stationed had been demolished, with no survivors.

Blaming his loss on lack of real security, Engarde refused to take leave, making it his mission to rise to the rank of guardian so whatever team he joined wouldn’t suffer the same fate. He pursued the rank relentlessly, to the point that his colleagues were wary of his mental state.

As he rose through the ranks, Engarde also investigated who had been involved in the bombing of his sire’s base and discovered, to his horror, that his cousin had been a member of the strike force. For a time he set aside his quest for guardianship and pursued Elite Infinitum.

When they finally came face to face, Engarde gave him one warning that if he endangered or harmed anyone close to Engarde again, there would be consequences. Elite Infinitum replied with a cannon blast to his back. When he recovered, Engarde had a foldable cannon installed as a reminder and a promise that he wouldn’t be taken by surprise by anyone. He began his training again, neglecting most relationships, as he considered them an “outside world”.

A medical student with connections to Outpost Alpha interceded for him, requesting he be promoted if only for his health. By this time it wasn’t needed; Engarde had reached a notable level of training and was already being considered for the title. He joined Autobot Outpost Kappa Four as master of the energon and remained with them until the Great Exodus.

Engarde remains online to this day, traveling the universe in search of his lost comrades. He believes it was and is his duty to find and protect them just as loyally as the energon. If he fails, he may very well decide his life has lost its purpose.
