Alex is an overall optimistic, peppy person. He’s loud, intense, and will claim he’s reliable as a friend. He’s patient, loving, and while he may come off as obnoxious, Alex will always insist he means the best. Although, he does have a bit of an outward ego, and will blabber relentlessly whether you want to listen or not. However, he is overwhelmingly unaware of his own mental state and often underestimates situations by creating positive illusions for himself. When pushed the slightest bit out of his comfort zone or away from someone he’s comfortable with, it’s very likely Alex will lash out and become aggressive. Although, it isn’t difficult to earn his love, as he is very easily wooed. Most kind gestures will gain you his utmost loyalty.

History:
Alexandrite had always been an energetic and sociable child. He enjoyed the company of his family, his friends, and was the first to invite other kids to play with him whenever he was out. And most of all, Alex reveled in the attention of his parents. His mother being a pediatrician had a way with kids, and his father would always take Alex to his library to read to him on his breaks. However, when Alex was three-going-on-four, his sister Edith was born.

All the attention he used to get went to her; at the park, everyone cooed over the cute little baby with bows; at family gatherings, people always asked to hold Edith. When Alex asked to be picked up, he was told he was 'too big' and that he could stay right where he was, on the floor. This quickly created a resentment toward his sister. As he grew older, Alex tried harder and harder to one-up Edith and call his parents' attention. Except Edith always needed more help at daycare, more help with homework, more friends to come over, did more extracurricular activities in school, and she never bothered to keep her successes to herself. She was loud, brash, and intrusive in a way Alex couldn't stand. For a while, Alex stuck to himself and his books, trying his best not to feel too hurt or abandoned; however, he eventually decided to be just as loud and brash, choosing instead of participating in more clubs to get into more fights with his classmates, his sister, and parents. Alex isolated himself from his family, and when no one reached back out to him, he gave up in trying to impress them or get their attention; he had already made himself the 'problem child'.

In highschool, Alex's counselor suggested he join the wrestling team in the hopes that it'd relieve some of his frustration. There, he met what his current best friend would be, Jade, and he distanced himself further from his family while the conflicts there only grew bigger. Over time they became the other’s best friend and closest confident. At 18, Jade got a full scholarship to what would be considered an ivy league school, and invited Alex to move out with her. Taking the bare minimum with him, they rented an apartment off campus and Alex got a job at a library to help Jade with expenses, despite her brothers offering to pay.

His family still disapproves of the move, and while they aren’t too far away in terms of a drive, every phone call or visit includes a judgment on Alex’s decision. Although, Alex feels a lot less pressured and hurt now, and is learning still to be happier about himself.

Extras:

Has been dying his hair white since the beginning of his Junior year. His tips are usually either turquoise, violet, or hot pink; and yes, he's that guy that'll dye his eyebrows to match. Naturally, it's a dark brown

Loves rocks/gems. If Steven Universe is still A Thing here, it’d be his favorite show

He does smoke, but does his best to hide it from Jade who would rather he didn't

Wrestled for all of highschool

As a kid, when playing pretend, would always take up the role of knight and/or dragon

Alex is very insecure about how people perceive him as a person (appearance-wise, he couldn't care less) and makes up for it by being over-exuberant; he tries not to acknowledge that though

Alex got his target-flower-esque tattoo at 17. He changes up the story behind it every time someone asks

He got the jade-flower tattoo at 19 because he felt like he needed to have a more permanent homage to his best friend

The scar over his left eyebrow was given during an accidental blow to his face during wrestling. He brags about it, and also changes the story behind it every time he tells it

He's not-so-secretly a hopeless romantic, and while it takes a while for him to fall in love, he loves all the lovey dovey things that comes with falling

His boyfriend of two years is Victor Lavender, Lydia Lavender’s cousin; however, they're in a pretty open though honest relationship, and while Xander tells Victor everything, he might not tell other people about Victor. He considers Jade's girlfriend, Ennet, and Jade to be his best friends. Ennet works and lives in in a nearby town, whereas Victor works and lives in town
