Loneliness of Stars

Once upon a time, on midsummer night,
A thirsty, brave fawn, standing by the shore,
Bent her little neck to drink from a lake,
When, beside a tree growing on a hill,
Saw a reflection of a fairy girl.

The long hair, darker than the night itself,
Silky skin, young, yet pale, bright as Moon crescent-shaped,
With nostalgia-filled eyes, looking at the water’s edge,
Making wonder the brave fawn, what she’s seeking there,
- Maybe, waiting for someone? Or in need for help?

- Only looking at the stars - whispered the tree,
By moving it’s branches on a gentle breeze,
Old enough to know the story of a girl,
Wished to be a star shining on the sky,
Living happier life, than the one she had.

By the Light of Day, by the Light of Night,
Listen to my tale, dear innocent child.

Above tree crowns full of green leaves,
Higher up than tallest of all mountain peaks,
Beyond clouds flying in the sky,
Visible for us only in the night,
Lies a world of ever-shining stars.

Countless, tiny lights, depicted as gods,
Worshiped by the men, called by their names,
And believed to know every creature’s fate,
Fighting with the dark, in the place of Sun,
Listeners of prayers, from dusk till it’s dawn.

Each and every legend, fairy tale or dream,
Whether old or young, always goes the same,
A man, shooting star, a wish to be made,
Some tears, happy ending, just over again,
Keep telling one part, while hiding the rest.

***

On a tiny farm, just outside a town,
In a cozy house, full of parent’s love,
Lived a little girl, smart, friendly and kind,
But having no friends, so lonely and sad,
Thus one day, she decided to just run away.

Crying all the way, only by herself,
At night she came, and sat down by the lake,
Rising up the eyes, asked shining stars for a place among them,
The one full of sisters and brothers, who would like to play,
Where mother and father always be for her.

On the same night, covered in pure light,
The poor soul ascended, given an eternal life of a star,
But, up in the sky, found no love and care once had,
And still couldn’t play, couse other stars were too far from her,
So the soul understood the mistake she made, but it was too late.

Since then, every year on midsummer night,
She comes down to earth, to sit by the shore,
Staring at the water reflecting the past,
Reliving the life she had as a child,
And with a new daylight, returns into stars.

By the Light of Day, by the Light of Night,
Follow my advice, and always think twice.

Now, go back to your mom, before it’s too late…
