The apex hunter. The ruler of the land, whether it is the vast tundra or the dark woods, the tallest of mountain or deepest of valleys. How the earth seem to shake in panic as he walks and tremble in fear as he stalks his prey on silent paws. Like a shadow moving under a moonless night he moves undetected - so far - closer to his prey who is of yet unaware. The hunter crouches down deep as his prey suddenly lifts up it's head, looking his way. He doesn't move. His choice...his target, resumes scratching at the piece of old log. A deep breath and the woods seem to go silent. Then he charges - out of the bush - causing a black bird fly up and sounding it's alarm. He tackles his victim and wraps - or tries to - his paws around it's waist as he tries to get a grip around it's neck. Unfortunately, he just get a mouthful of his sister's mane in his mouth.

With a fierce snarl the pale female pup shrugs her brother off her as the dark male pup pulls back, sneezing and shaking his head as he tries to get rid of the tuft of white soft hair in his mouth. After that is done he playfully jumps at her for a bit of play. The pups have a bit of mouth war, only paused by some wrestling. A sound however make the two of them halt their games. The pale half mane and the merle female have returned. Akatchiri, the half mane female, noses the pied male they left to keep an eye on the pups. Tarraq have fallen asleep in the shades and as he wakes from his slumber, the male stretches as he yawns big, showing all of his lethal ivory whites.

Eagerly the pups rush against the merle female, but then just as they are to bound into her they remember the last time and the sting of her nip on their porky puppy butts. Both of them lower their heads and with their wagging tails between their legs they approach the female with a bit more caution. Karigi ignores them. Pretends not to see. She does not dislike them as much as she dislike some grown tokotas but they are at times as pesky as the biting insects on a hot day in summer. Pretty soon they get the hint, they won't get a snack from her. The two pups move on to the half mane female that does not disappoint them. Bits of warm flesh of a deer are quickly devoured by two hungry pups.

Tarraq had hunted before them, he was the one who brought the deer down, perhaps a reason for his rest. Of course he had taken the best pieces and his stomach is still slightly rounded. He could have chosen to have fed the pups but they had been sleeping as well, and only just woken up to play for a bit.

Karigi flicks her ear and eyes the pups who amazingly enough take her cue right away. Be still, be quiet! Both pups pull back just slightly into the bush as the merle female walks forward, towards the sound she thought she heard. While the grown ups have little to fear there are many grown male bears  that wouldn't mind to take out a tokota pup, in hopes to perhaps lessen the competition for food in the long run. Just as a grown tokota wouldn't hesitate to do the same to a bear cub. It was a hard life in the wild. The other two grown tokotas stay behind. They would come if Karigi called on them, but if it turned out to be false alarm there is no reason to bring attention to the pups and leave them undefended.
