Personality

Positive Traits

Allocentric
Helena has always had the noble trait of putting others before herself. Selfless, the princess always finds a way to make sure everyone is okay before thinking what's best for her. While often times many royals may find her strange for having kindness towards everyone, especially commoners, Helena can't simply turn off her desire to help everyone.
Benevolent
Kind and gentle, Helena is friendly to all she meets. The princess sees not the differences in class, and therefore finds it much easier to be kind to anyone and everyone. She doesn't discriminate against lineage or class, coat or appearance, she looks past the majority of physical appearances, offering her cheerfulness to everyone she encounters.
Compassionate
Mostly directed towards her adoration for common folk, Helena cannot help but help them. She loves visiting and aiding them, whether it's healing a wound or giving them a small conversation; she loves the openness that the commoners have, and wishes that it was the same for royals. She's very protective of the commoners she's met, and desires nothing more than to see their wellbeing and happiness be okay. Helena, due to the loss of her first betrothed, and the death of her second, finds it incredibly hard not to care for anyone in need.
Eloquent
Like many princesses, before and after her, Helena is well spoken. The princess uses her words wisely, and even though she is young, she manages to sometimes make a valid point to those who are older than she is. She hopes to one day use this as an advantage to further help her beloved people, but for now, she will settle for using it to be kind.
Genuine
While many believe that the princess' kindness may be a gimmick, what Helena feels is pure. Her desires to help others, and her unwavering love and adoration for all she meets is arguably the source of her magic. Her overall happiness and authenticity makes Helena a shining beam of light, even when she is unable to glow yet, her smile can brighten up a room.
Magnanimous
Helena, in the way she is, is entirely too forgiving of everyone. No matter what wrong is done against her, the princess opens her heart with acceptance and love. She realizes that everyone makes mistakes, and never holds anyone to anything; the princess holds no grudge or malevolence, keeping the princess' heart full of love and fairytale-like expectations of the world. Even to those who see her in distain, Helena feels only love.
Painstaking
In everything she does, Helena is completely thorough. She never leaves anything unattended to, and gives everything her absolute all. Whether it be her studies of magic and herbs, or her healing of another, Helena doesn't do anything halfway. She takes great pride in knowing what she has accomplished, and never leaves anything to be desired of her. Because of her fear of loss, Helena will do whatever it takes to make sure she can care for anyone who comes for her aid.
Selfless
Coinciding with her allocentric ways, Helena is entirely selfless. Not only does she think of others before herself, she will give her all to anyone without a second thought. The princess is known for gifting her magic to commoners, allowing them to be healed by her when they are in need. She has gifted her magic and a few belongings to common folk in order to see them smile, and even though it is looked down on, it brings her joy. But Helena's kindness isn't only towards the commoners, it is towards anyone in need, so long as they come to her, she will aid them.

Neutral Traits

Emotional
As sensitive as she is, Helena is very much in touch with her emotions. She has no qualms about expressing herself, whether it be in happiness, sadness, anger, or despair. Since her magic relies on her state of being, there are some days she cannot perform her magic, as the emotional princess finds herself too upset to will Áillte's power. However, there are some days where she is so happy, the young princess feels as if she could glow as bright as the sun!
Familial
Helena is incredibly close to her family, and she desires to have one of her own. Helena would love to have an adoring mate and beautiful fawns, just like any other doe, but she fears she may not get the chance to. Widowed by two betroths already, the princess does fear about not being betrothed again, but she pushes aside the worries, love will come again...right?
Pure
Untainted, uncorrupted, and the perfect little glowing glower, Helena is pure at heart and soul. Her character holds no hate, and even though she occasionally feels anger, she is never angry towards someone; Helena never puts her negative emotions on to any one fawnling, and for that, she cannot (or will not) hate or harbor hate. The goodness she feels overrides her sense of malevolence, negating it as soon as it arises. Even after the death of her first betrothed, Helena feels nothing but love, for she loves his memory more than pining over his death; she remembers her first real marriage just as fondly.
Religious
Oh Óganach, our light and savior! Helena is very adamant about learning lore. She even loves to learn about the rest of the herds' lore, as scandalous as that sounds. However, she whole heartedly only believes in the Glenmore gods and ways; she believes that she is a blessing from Áillte to her parents and her herd, and she doesn't take that lightly! She is sacred, and she does all she can to learn how she is supposed to be by studying Áillte and other figures.
Soft
Helena is seen as an overly kind princess. While there have been a few rowdy and rule breaking princesses as of late, the quiet and gentle princess is known for her kindness. Her actions and voice are often remembered as delicate, the princess never known to raise her voice or shout; likewise, she has never been known to discipline anyone too harshly or excessively, even if they have wronged her tremendously.
Whimsical
Helena loves entertainment! She loves anything that brings a smile to her face. She enjoys having entertainers and jesters in her glade, often times wanting to learn their ways as well. She employs many in her court for entertainment, and she greatly enjoys attending weddings and celebrations. However, one of her favorite pastimes is walking through the commoners' glade, enjoying the air and buying trinkets.

Negative Traits

Compulsive
If Helena wants to do something, she'll do it. While maybe not the most obedient princess, she isn't entirely out of lie until she wants something. She goes out of her way to do whatever it is she has planned or set herself up to do; once she has started, she won't stop. In cases of dealing with society, she uses her eloquent ways of speaking to help sway debates in her favor if she can.
Decadent
While she loves entertainment and fun, Helena also enjoys indulging herself. She adores being showered in affection and gifts, and very much loves when hoofmaidens pamper her, like many other princesses do! She always has someone to grow her flowers, as she loves them, and she enjoys having someone to grow her fruit. Helena loves very much the finer things in life, and she cannot help it.
Fanciful
Over imaginative and dreamy, Helena always desires what may not always be obtainable. One of her favorite splurges is having trinkets and flora from other herds, collecting them by any means necessary. She always tries to have that one thing that is unique, and often times nonexistent. Despite this fact, Helena is always looking for that newest thing that brings a sparkle to her eye.
Hedonistic
Almost gluttonous, Helena is in a constant state of pursuit of happiness. She desires nothing more than to feel good, and she often times is seen as materialistic. Helena loves indulging herself in anything that brings her pleasure, and there is hardly anyone or anything that can stand in her way. While she is known as being very giving and kind, the princess does love to collect and please herself as well.
Mawkish
Helena is attached to everything, and that may not be an exaggeration. The princess finds sentiment in everything she owns, and even in encounters she has. She holds on to anything that is given to her, convinced it had a special meaning to it; she often keeps every flower ever gifted to her, because each one is special. Helena has a hard time letting go of anything she deems sentimental, and it pains her greatly to let anything go (unless, however, she is giving it away, because it then has a new meaning).
Possessive
While she may be kind and accepting, Helena is incredibly close to what is hers, even if she doesn't outwardly show it all the time. Because she is so attached to everything she has, everything is special to her until she deems it right to give it away. Unless she has decided to give you something, if you take it, she will not be happy. While she isn't known to be spiteful, crossing the princess will receive a well deserved backlash, in the kindest way possible. She may not be the best player in the Royals' game, but don't underestimate the power she can wield.
Reckless
In the eyes of many royals, Helena is wasteful and profligate. She willingly gifts her magic to anyone in need, regardless of rank. Her use of magic left and right on commoners in need is often viewed as distasteful and unnecessary, as light magic is sacred and only for those higher up. While she doesn't feel this way about herself, Helena is easy to give away things she owns, whether it be magic or resources; she is known to give all she has on her to anyone she finds may want it, because although she loves to receive, she likes to give more. However, she often times gives too much, and because an unidentified victim to those who take advantage of her.
Stubborn
Along with her compulsive nature, Helena is also too stubborn for her own good. She is known to sulk and pout until she gets her way, making her very much like a young hind in that aspect. Unfortunately, when the doe doesn't get her way, she will have a conniption, hiding away hurtfully in her den until what sh desires is given to her. There's been times where her stubbornness is borderline ornery, but no one has seen her demanding nature turn cruel.

History

Year 7XX-7XX of the New Age - Before Birth

Year 754 of the New Age - Birth

When the time came, the princess was born, but, she was not alone. Angelique had two beautiful fillies, both lusciously golden, and picture perfect princesses. The family rejoiced, praising them for their blessing. Helena and Adalyn were playful, rambunctious; the princesses were full of zest and life. The first year of life was seemingly blissful, entirely carefree to the twins who soaked up the love and attention they were given, Helena especially enjoying her family and sister.

Year 755-759 of the New Age - Fawnhood

The twins were eventually followed by two other princess sisters, Selene and Lucille, both of which the eldest daughters loved very much. Their father also had another daughter through another doe of his, this sister a lady named Ainnir. Helena loved to play with her sisters, always finding a reason to be by their side, regardless of where she was needed. Like her twin, Helena struggled when schooling came around, pouting endlessly about this and that when she wasn't allowed to play. However, she adapted quite nicely, thoroughly enjoying the things she was taught, absorbing it all up like a sponge. The filly seemed to hone her magic easily, able to use minor magic by the age of 4. This pleased her greatly, and she worked hard every day to perfect her magic skills.

Along with school, Helena found herself promised to a lord, a handsome hart named Griffith. He was dark, kind, and everything that Helena dreamed of and more. Adalyn wasn't as lucky, and Helena tried to comfort her twin about her promise to an overly aggressive lord, never liking the idea of her sister with such an awful stag; but as a doe, Helena hushed her opinions. Her blissful love for her lord lessened her worries over her sister. Griffith was young, only two years older than she, and he spoiled her. He brought her flowers when they were on chaperoned outings, lavishing the princess in gifts and love. Helena was hopelessly and madly in love with her lord, her coat glowing at the mere thought of him.

At his request, she accompanied him on a stroll through the glades, the princess followed by her loyal guardsman, Proteus. The guard was in charge of her protection, especially in a time where princesses were taken and stolen away. Helena valued him greatly, and though she tested his patience, she knew that he did not mind his job; this fact made Helena happy, making the princess incredibly fond of her protector. The day was wonderful, Helena enjoying every second and every word that came from her lord's lips. She was out of her depth with love, but what she felt was without a shadow of a doubt young love, one that would've grown had tragedy not reared its ugly head. Whilst near the Great Oak, a flash of white blinded the princess, calling her guard to her aid instantly. A roar echoed in her ears, making the princess momentarily blind and deaf; panic bubbled in her chest, blue eyes searching frantically for her beloved.

Helena shrieked, wailing out Griffith's name heartbrokenly, her guard leaping into the embers to find his princess' lord. The golden filly's heart stopped as Proteus leapt and bound to her, delivering her lord who was draped across his back. Helena immediately checked them both for wounds, healing what she could on her loyal protector before turning to her lord. He was covered in burns, his rasping breaths commanding her attention. She tried, oh how she tried to heal him; Helena sobbed, forcing her magic to heal him, but it wasn't enough. She wasn't skilled enough to save him, and under the watchful eye of her guard and the burning tree, Helena gently lay her head on her beloved Griffith, comforting him until the lordling drew his final, gasping breath.

After the fall of the Oak, Helena was allowed time to grieve her loss, the King Drustan giving the young princess a time to mourn her loss; he gave her a year, betrothing her at age 6 instead of 5. Her sister Adalyn's wedding was slowly approaching, and Helena worries for her sister. After her year, Helena was promised to a lord much older than her, 13 years her senior to be exact. Afraid he would be similar to Adalyn's lord, she was terrified when she met him for the first time. However, his warm smile and kind eyes eased her worries. Lord Cassius was her first official betrothed, and while she adored the older stag, she didn't feel the same spark as with her precious Griffith.

Year 760-764 of the New Age - Young Adult

In 760, Helena and Adalyn are both wed in the spring. The ceremonies were beautiful and Helena's worries, for once, melt away in the festivities and ceremonies. A year later, Adalyn had her first fawn, a handsome colt named Khalil; both his mother and his aunt adore him. The princess sisters were all blessed with a younger brother in the Year 762; all the sisters cherished their younger brother. Their half sister., Lady Ainnir, also birthed her first fawn that same spring, a handsome colt named Lord Andrew. Sadly, that same autumn, Helena attended the funeral of Adalyn's lord, and while she is saddened by the loss of life, she is happy that her sister is free of such a lord. It had only been two years since the fall of the Oak, but the lord's wounds were too great, and he was reckless, becoming his own demise. All was quiet for a short while, Helena grew to find love for her lord, and despite the age difference, the two seemed to get along. Cassius suggested waiting until she was a bit older to think of fawns, recognizing her age and size. Helena was appreciative of this, and thanked her lord endlessly for being so caring. He wooed her, spoiling her in gifts and maidens to care for her. He had entertainers come to their glade to perform for her, delighting his princess. One day, Cassius took it a step farther.

Cassius gathered his guards, and his princess' personal guardsman, and took them to the Commoners' Glade. Helena was enthralled by the sights and sounds, her eyes lighting up like her glittering coat. The mere sight of his princess happy swelled his heart with pride, allowing her to wander with him. He bought her exotic flowers and fruits, taking a few seedlings home to plant in their glade. Whilst wandering around with her lord, Helena noticed a small fawn with a cut, the princess instantly by the colt's side. She lay beside him, closing her eyes as her magic glowed around her, his wound illuminating and closing. The colt, in awe of such kindness by a so called "evil royal" gifted her a flower, the princess allowing the hart to tuck it behind her ear; she smiled, teary eyes staring at a colt similar to her lost Griffith. Cassius smiled at his princess, adoring the fact she was kind to all. The once spur of the moment trip turned into something the couple regularly took as a mini get away from their glade.

Her youngest sisters, Selene and Lucille were both betrothed to handsome lords in spring of 763. Helena was delighted! She enjoyed their weddings immensely; she lavished her sisters with gifts, the bubbly princess a beacon of light next to her lord. However, the year was not to finish fondly. Her lord was tired, she could feel it. His body felt odd, the princess sensing something strange from within him. He countered he was fine, not wanting her to worry. But her worries were not wrong, and whilst sleeping together that same fall, her lord suffered from a heart attack. A clot had traveled to his heart, the stag's already weak by nature heart suffering greatly. Helena woke up the next morning, her lord cold as stone by her side. She wailed, causing guards to come to her den. Sobs wracked her body, neck outstretched over her darling lord's shoulders; she may not have loved him like Griffith, but she had grown to love him, for he had shown her many wonders of the world.

With great sadness, the princess again buried her beloved lord. Helena was 9 and twice a widow; the thought frightened her, wondering if she would forever be unable to hold onto her loved ones. The kingly races had concluded, the victorious King Rafe coming into power. He granted the princess her two years of mourning, the princess graciously taking the time to reflect on her loss. However, she used the time to work on her magic, honing it more and more; she refused to let anyone precious to her suffer, and she would work until Áillte told her she could do no more. She lived within her previous lord's glade, surrounded by her loyal servants and guard, occasionally being visited by her father and sisters. For a long while, Helena stayed mostly to her glade, but soon, she was venturing out again. The happy princess began taking her beloved trips to the Commoners' Glade, and soon asked King Rafe for her re-betrothal, awaiting to once again to become a bride.

Year 765 of the New Age

Helena was promised to the daring and handsome Lord Pietro. At first, Helena was nervous of the news, since many believed she was cursed to never hold a lord for long. But she had hope that this stag would be her last, and that she could begin her family with such a respectable lord. During her time alone, and awaiting her new betrothal, Helena went out on her own to take in a few more members to keep her company. Helena took up a lovely chestnut doe named Odessa as her maiden, taking her in when the doe's former charge was charged with infidelity. Helena took solace in the doe when her own heart was at its weakest. The princess also sought out music for her glade, finding wonderful talent in a toothy commoner doe named Lilith; while some looked at her minstrel with disapproving eyes, Helena adores her music all the same. Close to the same time she found Lilith, the princess also came to hire a wonderfully talented bardess by the name Andraste; the doe was a little cold shouldered like her minstreless was at first, but the princess enjoys the tales and poems the doe offers, often times listening in when she felt lonely or depressed. When autumn came, the princess met a grey hind with striking red hair. Helena aided the small doe in the market and bought much loved flowers from her. Taking an interest in her, the princess extended her home to the young doe, and the filly, Primrose, began training under her other maidens Odessa and Dior to serve her. Around the same time, Helena stumbled upon a lonesome dark doe within the Glenwood, much to Proteus' dismay when she wandered off. Seeing the doe tend to plants and using magic, Helena became intrigued. Although their first encounter resulted in the dark doe bolting away from the princess, Helena was insistent on finding her again. That same season, Helena ran into her again, learning the doe's name to be Scáth. Helena, friendly as ever, complimented her magic, and although she seemed reluctant, the doe accepted her offer to serve the princess as a florist. With her formerly empty glade full of life and zest with her court, Helena began awaiting anxiously her betrothal to the lord she was promised to that spring, secretly loving the idea of her unorthodox winter wedding, and becoming just as nervous as she was before her first wedding.

What has happened to Helena? All will be revealed in due time...

Out of curiosity, why or rather how is Helena tainted?
