*Semi-open means you can make them for yourself or someone else. It also means that COMMON and UNCOMMON traits are the only ones allowed! Rare and epic traits are FORBIDDEN.

What are Starsingers?

All the info you could possibly want to know about Starsingers can be found here!

Moon Seeker and Sun Watcher Species Ref (Updated) by AlimareEmpire : Species Reference Sheet                   Starsingers - Soluna Kingdom InfoStarsingers are ponies who dwell in Soluna, the northern kingdom of Alimare. Soluna itself is split into two sub-kingdoms, Soliste in the east, and Lunae in the west. Each sub-kingdom is ruled by its own prince or princess, who, of course, answer to the Empress. Starsingers have two distinct sub-species - the sun-dwelling Sun Watchers, and the night-walking Moon Seekers.
Soliste
Soliste is often called the Birthland of the Sun, and it is a long-held belief by all Alimarian ponies that it was, indeed, this land that birthed all radiant light. It is here that the Sun Watchers live and protect the Solanctium, the most ancient sun temple in the world.
Sun Watchers
Sun Watchers are the resident unicorn ponies of Soliste. They are large in size, with powerful legs, strong attitudes, and fearless hearts. They stand taller than their Moon Seeker counterparts, and are bright in color, resembling the light most of them worship. On their chests are

What Are the Rules?

These rules MUST be followed if you want to make your own Starsinger:

  • Only COMMON and UNCOMMON traits are allowed. Rare, Epic, and Mythic traits and Classes are reserved for AlimareEmpire only and any other co-owners who have PURCHASED RIGHTS to the species.
  • You MUST be a member of :iconstarsingers: if you want to own or make your own Starsinger. This is IMPORTANT because it helps the creator of the species keep an eye on the species and those who are making/owning them. If you are NOT a member of the group and you make a Starsinger, AlimareEmpire reserves the right to ban you from the species and take away/scrap your Starsingers.
  • You MUST tag AlimareEmpire in EVERY SINGLE Starsinger you make, and there MUST be a link to the :iconstarsingers: group as well.
  • BREEDING IS NOT ALLOWED unless there is an open breeding event.
  • You MUST REGISTER your made Starsinger by filling out their REGISTRATION FORM found in the group and submitting it to the Registration Folder (this form is not complete, but is coming soon! For now, don't worry about this rule!).
  • You CANNOT SELL your made Starsinger(s) for profit. Not for points, not for money. The only people allowed to sell Starsingers are AlimareEmpire and co-owners who have purchased species rights.
  • You MAY make your Starsinger a DTA or WTA, or you may TRADE IT in the Trading Ring for another Starsinger or character that another person is trading. You may also give them away as rewards for contests, raffles, etc.
ANYONE FOUND BREAKING THESE RULES WILL BE GIVEN ONE WARNING PER OFFENSE, AND THEN BANNED FROM THE SPECIES PERMANENTLY AFTER THE SECOND SAME OFFENSE.

What Can I Do With My Starsinger?

Almost whatever you'd like! You can draw them, RP with them, write about them...whatever! Just keep in mind that Starsingers primarily live in Alimare ( AlimareEmpire 's imagined land), in the twin kingdoms of Soluna. They do, however, travel to Equestria on occasion, but this is currently hard to do. The reason being is that Emperor Bloodfang, the tyrannical emperor of Alimare, has closed trade with Equestria and any other lands in the world. Although Soluna is technically its own Empire, they are still part of Alimare, and are at war with the Emperor. Leaving home is difficult! There are a few forbidding things regarding what your Starsinger can be, so read those below, please:

  • Royalty
    • Royalty is already determined and established, so your Starsinger CANNOT be a prince or princess. They can be related by blood (with AlimareEmpire 's permission), but they cannot be a ruling power.
  • A Hybrid
    • Hybrids between the two Starsinger subspecies is forbidden by Solunian Religious Law. There is LORE behind this. The reason being is that the sub-species used to be one specie: the Starsinger. When the Sun Stone and Moon Stone were created, the specie was split in two so that each could share the responsibility. It is believed that if the sub-species were to mate and produce a hybrid offspring, the Stones would be removed from them, and the Starsinger kingdoms will fall into ruin.
    • Hybrids between OTHER species is fine (like between a Sun Watcher and a Pyrlafin, for example), as these pairings sometimes happen. Just run it by AlimareEmpire first, though!
  • Corrupt (Having a Blood Moon or Black Sun (Black Hole) Symbol on their chests)
    • Corrupt Starsingers are extremely rare and are only allowed to be made in special circumstances -- often during a corruption event. These events will be hosted by AlimareEmpire and only a SELECT FEW Starsingers will be allowed to become corrupt.
    • Corrupt adopts will be available through AlimareEmpire only.
  • An Alicorn
    • This is reserved for royalty only.
    • You can't have your Starsinger "earn their wings" and become royalty.
  • A Pegasus instead of a Unicorn
    • Pegasi Starsingers are extremely hard to come by and, therefore, are only available through adoptions hosted by AlimareEmpire and any co-owners who have purchased species rights.
  • Having a "Cutie Mark"
    • While Alimare is part of the same world as Equestria (being only separated by an ocean), Starsingers ARE NOT the same as ponies found in other places of the world. They DO NOT have Cutie Marks. Even when a Starsinger cross-breeds with a pony that has one, their offspring will never have one. The only time this might change is after 5 generations of "breeding out" of the Starsinger species, and by then, there's not a whole lot left that makes them a true Starsinger.

Important Lore and World Info

If you plan on RPing your Starsinger, and you want to do so properly in their own world, then these are important things happening that you need to be aware of:

  • Soluna IS part of the Alimarian Empire. Yes, they are "separate" in their own right, but the Prince and Princess of each sub-specie of Starsinger still answer to the Emperor or Empress of Alimare.
  • Alimare is in turmoil! It is unbalanced! It is currently being led by the tyrannical Emperor Bloodfang -- a once-benevolent prince who corrupted himself by way of the Valkinos. The Valkinos was written by fallen Moon Seeker mages, and is considered the most evil book ever conceived by magic. Bloodfang overthrew his peaceful sister, Goldheart, in a violent strike for the throne. The battle essentially destroyed the Empress, allowing her damaged brother to rise in her place. He has an army of Void Soldiers that wreak havoc on the citizens of Alimare, including Soluna.
  • The wars in Alimare HAVE REACHED Soluna and WILL REACH it again.
    • There have been sieges against the Starsinger twin kingdoms, although none as of yet have been successful in completely overthrowing the Prince and Princess.
  • Starsingers are keepers of the moon and sun.
    • Starsingers created the moon and sun (at least according to the histories as recorded by the Alimarian scribes), back when the world was existing only in darkness. The Starsingers were then given crystals by both of their creations to keep safe, and upon receiving these gifts, the specie was split in two -- the keepers of the Moon Stone became Moon Seekers, and the keepers of the Sun Stone became Sun Watchers.
    • Both sub-species takes their roles seriously! Always and forever, their primary lot in life is caring for the sun and moon and the defense of the sacred Sun and Moon Stones.
  • Corrupt Starsingers commonly live outside of normal society.
    • These Starsingers are part of a cult known as the "Family of the Dusk," which take their worship of the sun and moon to a new level of bizarre.
      • The Family of the Dusk is led by a priest (or priestess) that has connected themselves to the sun and/or moon by way of a blood sacrifice known as "The Origin." This sounds less sinister than it actually is. The Origin is a ritual in which the aspiring priest or priestess cuts the moon or sun symbol on their chest and allow the blood to be absorbed by one of their corrupt altars. The altar may choose to drink the Starsinger dry, thus killing them. If allowed to live, they have earned the right to become a leader of the cult. Some speculate that this spell is not condoned by the sun and/or moon, but is rather considered a perverted, unpredictable spell that may or may not kill the caster.
    • Corrupt Starsingers are often violent, depressed, and above-all, unpredictable beings. They roam the land most commonly as bandits, and are not afraid to hurt others to get what they want (or need) to survive.
    • NOT ALL CORRUPT STARSINGERS BECOME THIS FANATIC. There are some who still live in the regular cities, and try to function as best they can. They still retain the part of them that made them who they were before their corruption. However, keep in mind that these Starsingers are not trusted by the general public, and are often discriminated against. Corrupt Starsingers who live in the cities live near the outskirts or in the city slums, which keeps them separated most of the time from the others. (Yep, Starsingers are biased and racist, too, sometimes!)
