Draw my OC contest Winners announced.

Well, my first contest was hosted and closed without any real problems. For the most part I consider it a success since I ended up with 18 entries. ^^

First things first. There were a total of 7 judges all reviewing your entries. Why so many? Well a few participants are deviants I watch for some time now and appreciate their work immensely. So I had 6 other people who do not know any of the participants, help me judge . That way there's no bias whatsoever and it's completely fair for all participants.

You may also be asking yourself how we judged?

We mainly judged based on quality of the art piece (so lineart, coloring, shading, lighting, etc.) accuracy to the character (which was a very important point we based ourselves on. So things like missing accessories/pieces of clothing, poses or expressions that don't suit the character, etc are things that bring down the score. Possibly the most important category of all since for a few judges the face either made or failed the art.) and mainly how the artwork as a whole impressed. (harder to explain here. I guess it's like how much does it appeal in general? Perhaps the idea you were going for when making the art? Or if there was something about it that bothered us?)  

You may remember I said background isn't necessary? Well it's true as backgrounds are not needed in the general review but if you did take the time to add one, we determine not so much the quality of the BG but how well it fits and compliments the character. So if your background is somewhere the character is in their element, then you get some extra points for the final verdict. If on the other hand we scratch our head and wonder "Why this bg of all places/things?" then no bonus points are assigned even if the background is drop dead gorgeous.

You'll notice the prizes are for the most part the same but some will have a few little extras since the original journal. As well as a small something for runners up. Next time, if I host another one, I'll be sure to save a lot more money aside and have a 4th and 5th place as well. :3

A very impressive piece. Truly worthy of being amongst the winners. Were it not for a few odd choices (mainly the lines across the face effect), this could easily have been 2nd or even 1st.

It was a very tough one to decide between this entry and the previous one. More so since ironically the two have a very similar theme going on. Ultimately, we favoured this one since we had less to nitpick about. And altho the background doesn't add that many points, it got a few since it was really fitting for the character you picked.

This entry won majority vote for first place and for good reason. Hachi looks very cute in that pose and the colors are vibrant. There were some very minor nitpicks but overall it still scored the highest. And it also got the bonus points for background since Hachi is certainly in her element here. Congratulations!

Was originally first for the longest time and for obvious reason. Since much like your other works, it gives off a lovely magical feel. However, as the competition got fiercer so did the judging. And sadly a number of nitpicks ended up bring it down in the ranking. At the end of the day however, it is still a wonderful entry and we were glad to have seen it.

A good example of where the face can either make or ruin the art. Here, the face was perfect and while a few nitpicks were brought up, it was generally well liked. Tho it unfortunately didn't make it to the final winners, it had to at least get a runner up.

Had almost has many votes as the previous runners up hence why it occupies the last spot on our runners up section. Tho a few felt the pose a little static, the art overall was well received as the choice of background fitting.
