Description

---

Name:
 Marjorie Wolfe

Type: Human

Contracted To:

  • (Sentient partner) None. yet.

  • Non-sentient entity: Kodama; tree spirit

As sort of protectors of the forests the actual tree is in, they bless the area with vitality. Beasts/creatures that has taken shelter (or pissed) at the tree would have formed a kind of bond with the spirit and parts of them can be summoned. The Kodama are able to 'call' these monsters that has been in their care to help protect the forest or the actual tree. Or Marjorie too now. (Kind of like how them Yakuza extort protection money out of shops even if they ain't done nothing yet just because they're in the area. These tiny tree gangsters.)

Specialties: Partial summoning.

Marjorie is able to summon parts of beasts to punch/swipe/kick/grab things. The summon only lasts for the duration of a punch and is only the limb of the beast. The range is about 3 meters.
The student pin makes the summons way less ferocious; like a giant lion's claw will turn into a cat's paw, harmless. Except for giving someone with a weakness to cuteness a heart attack.

Tier: 2

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Birthdate: 11/11/1950

Height: 160cm/5’3”

Nationality: British. Half German*, half Japanese. Speaks fluent Japanese and British English. Speaks German with a kind of Japanese accent for some odd reason.

Personality:

Free spirited ◾ prides herself in her integrity, honesty and discipline ◾ easily bored ◾ could get dramatic ◾ composed ◾ can get pretty ruthless ◾ direct ◾ detached ◾ lacks initiative

Contradictory is perhaps the best word to describe Marjorie. At first glance, she appears cool and serious but when you talk to her, she is actually pretty cheerful and humorous. Though her witty remarks and playfulness may make her seem energetic and outgoing, she’s actually rather passive and just goes with the flow/situation. Which makes her really easy to get dragged into all sorts of problems which she just takes on and try to solve like it’s the most natural thing to do.

She usually presents her case in a straightforward, logical manner but occasionally sprinkles sarcasm in a humorous way. Not the cynical or plain sarcastic way but just because it makes things seem less serious to her, which may lead to breaking out sarcastic jokes in inappropriate situations. Which she doesn’t comprehend very easily. She’s not quick to pick up social cues in tense situations but would seek to lighten it up anyways if she found the mood of the place to be too stifling.

If there’s one thing she can’t stand, it’s the mistreatment of animals or just people that can’t fight back. (Though it’s sort of contradictory with what her future job would have her do) She despises any sort of condescending attitude on the part of power holders towards other people and resents all false displays of caring or kindness. Unless she can’t tell that someone is doing that but if she figures out, sayonara friendship. She doesn’t usually show much emotion other than joy and the occasional slight irritation or disgust. Preferring to keep strong negative emotions under check in most situations unless there is an especially upsetting stimulus that would drag those emotions out.

If she had kids, she’d be the type of parent that’d sometimes get too strict, too overprotective, or way too relaxed giving too much freedom. At least she’s consistent with being inconsistent..

Being contracted to an entity was just sort of like a path, opening up new opportunities and giving her a means to defend herself (and eventually protect those she holds dear). She enjoys her life in Concordia and just takes things on as they come, never losing sight of her future plans. Perhaps way too far into the future. (One is her future job taking over granddad, two is her future contract partner. Probably magician, but we will see.)

History:

Quick love story that lead to the birth of this weird baby: Her mother met her father in Britain and fell in love pretty quickly. Her mother is from a wealthy magician family while her father was a regular human. Her mother is the daughter of the head of a pretty long running established Japanese mafia group so her father didn’t really approve of her relationship with the foreigner human dude. (He actually just doesn’t approve of letting any man get cozy with his beloved daughter but had to come up with a reason.) Determined to be with the person she loves, her mother ran away to Britain with her father and not long after, Marjorie was born. Her father gave up pretty quickly after his daughter ran away because he was too worried she’d end up on the streets with 500 kids to feed. (Wild imagination he has, that man.) So they actually managed to get married first before Marjorie happened.

Jo was born in England but was brought back to Japan where she spent most of her childhood, she was going back and forth between Japan and England pretty often though. This helped her learn both languages along with her parents each using a different language with her since young. She picked up German a bit after. Needless to say, her grandfather was at least slightly disappointed that Jo didn’t get the Magician genes or whatever magic that makes them Magicians but he is just mostly upset that that particular part of her is more like her father. Magician or not, many things can be achieved with contracts. With the help of his connections, grandfather arranged for Jo to get contracted to a non-sentient entity to get her excess to magic so that she can better survive in this world. (He is afterall the head of a crime organization and anyone related to him could be targeted by rivals or police people and perverts on the train because his granddaughter is so cute [grandfather vision alert])

Marjorie had her contract made through a traditional ritual done by her grandfather’s organization which involves a visit to a Shrine and an elaborate but solemn ceremony. The tattoo was done through traditional means known as Irezumi where the ink is inserted through non-electrical, hand-made tools of sharpened bamboo. To be honest, Jo nearly passed out from the pain a few times but her mother ain’t taking none of that shit. Her father however, had to be dragged out because of his noisy and honestly pretty childish and amusing protesting. She transferred to Concordia at 14.

Currently, in the year 1965, Japan has about reached the peak of its economic miracle period since the end of WW2. It has been said that the period leading up to now has been nearing the greatest prosperity Japan has seen since Amaterasu shut herself away from the world. Following that, it seems entity appearances and contract forming has been on the rise as well, along with the economy starting from 1950; the year Jo was born. So she’s been raised in pretty good times, meanwhile, Germany is having slow economy and grandfather isn’t planning on letting them go there any time soon.

Additional history on her granddad’s organization

Her grandfather’s organization, Murakumo-gumi (紫雲組), was said to have started during the mid Edo Period, as one of the lowly peddlers, opening stalls and acting as security during Shinto festivals. The peddlers were a varied bunch and the group was considered pretty well mannered and disciplined which gained them a good reputation with the people of the Shrines overseeing the festivals. The first leader to form a contract with an entity was through the priest of a shrine. In Japan, there is a term called 八百万の神, (literally 8 million gods), and people believe that spirits and souls exists in everything, both animate and inanimate objects. The priests were well revered and believed to have close ties or just more affinity with such spirits which are actually entities. Entities were drawn to shrines, either because of the large number of humans, or because of the ceremonies performed there by the priests, no one really knows. As a result of forming a good relationship with the priests, the leaders were able to be introduced to entities by the priests. Thanks to the help of the shrine, the organization grew rapidly and managed to stay around surviving the effects of the war.

Due to the nature of the organization, the head position has changed hands not only directly through blood relation, but the code of the organization ensures that new leaders are chosen to fit the way of the group. Thus, they all maintained a good relationship with several shrines and has kept up with the practice of forming contracts with suitable entities. Because the leaders may not necessarily be blood related, some generations may have humans as leaders while others may be magicians.

The Yakuza are known to have full body tattoos but for this particular group, those are not all just regular tattoos. It’s a mix of regular tattoos and tattoos from contracts. The organization forbids drug and human trafficking, engaging mostly in stocks and security operations. The Murakumo-gumi participates in festivals helping out shrines a lot. For the level of wealth and power held by the establishment, they are generally pretty low key in most of their operations. The group is now tied pretty closely to various Shrines, conducting many operations to help maintain and restore them, amongst other things.

Miscellaneous:

  • *I said half German but it’s actually quarter German, quarter British because her father is half german, half british. Yayakoshi much

  • Nickname: Jo, Jojo, Yuu (Mostly used by her Japanese side family), Maa-san (Her mom calls her this)

  • Mother’s name: Hyūga Shizuku (日向静雲) Father’s name: Wenzel Wolfe

  • If her grandfather could help it, he’d name her Hyuga Yuun (日向優雲)

  • Just writing this here so I remember but she’s probably gonna be around 168-169cm or 5’6”-5’7”172.5cm/5'8" (because Germans are so damned tall and she got more of her dad's genes physically and her granddad is fucking tall for a Japanese man he's like 180+cm, BIG OLD MAN.) when she’s fully grown. Or maybe taller idk. WE’LL SEE.

  • Jo’s mom always wears kimono, looks and behaves very gentle and kind but is actually scary as heck with her permanent faint smile. Don’t know what her affinity is, don’t even know what kind of magic she uses. Not really eager to find out either. Probably has something to do with the hanya mask.

  • Oh and Marmalade is prolly kinda pretty gay. Marmalade is now a legit nickname for her too so her please call her that.

  • Been trained (during play time by all the nice members of granddad’s yakuza family) in various traditional Japanese martial arts since young. But not in a very proper way. Out of all those, she enjoys doing archery and karate most.

  • Jojo's voice collection: English (this is a little bit on the soft side), German (Idek how accurate/off it is because I can't German but here is some German mixed with Japanese), Japanese

  • If she tried to sing in German I'm pretty sure it'd end up unintelligible like a certain glowing rainbow haired mother's theme song.

  • Bit of background info on Kodamas in general

  • Her grandfather sometimes changes her hair and eye color brown when she's in Japan because they live in Kyoto where even Magicians prefer keeping hair colors natural unlike Tokyo where people (even humans) dye their hair in all the colors you can imagine.

  • Marjorie's themes:

    Battle theme
    Not battle theme 1
    Not battle theme 2
