Once a happy go lucky, childish, naive, and sugar obsessed child, Melody no longer brings the same kind of happiness she used to. She has become much more cold and distant with others, even her own friends, avoiding contact with everyone save her teachers and house heads. Clearly going through some form of PTSD following the events of the broken wall, Melody has become much more cynical and brooding nowadays, opting to remain on her own. As a result of the changes that took place, she's also become much more serious, and is calm - almost numb and unresponsive - to different situations that could cause someone anger or excitement. Though she rarely talks, when she does open up (such as in a group), she is blunt and straightforward, using very little words; while this can be a good thing, there are times when her cynicism and apathy is shown towards others, seemingly no longer affected by peoples' emotions and who she offends or hurts with her words.

Despite these things, her placid, calm attitude help keep her level-headed, which proves to be an asset when it comes to battle.

Melody's personality and outlook/attitude in general have mellowed out significantly within the last two years. Since the arrival and subsequent meeting of her partner and significant other, Cerian Cadfael, as well as the relationships she was able to forge with Taylor, Chlora, Eirlys, Wyatt, and others, Melody has begun to learn how to open up and communicate with others, and even place her trust in them as well. Though she is no longer as cynical, she still holds her doubts from time to time, especially towards strangers. She has also made an effort to be less cold when striking up conversation with fellow students, though this has been met with mixed results since she is still awkward and can fumble in her words or grow quiet from time to time. While she no longer shows an apathetic attitude, her own attitude towards herself has still not changed, and aside from the concern shown by Cerian and her friends for her own well being, does not show much self-regard at all, if any.

History: Melody was born alongside identical twin Kiera, the daughters of a well to do Eon duo by the names of Alasdair and Genevieve Bontempo in the small and quaint town of Alto Mare. It was a seaside village that sat in the shadow of the kingdom it watched over, yet despite it's location it never seemed to be dark and dreary. It was lively, with other families and villagers adding to the hustle and bustle of the community. The girls spent many days playing either by the port or the beach, often mimicking their parents, both of whom served as knights for that kingdom, and aided in keeping not only the royals, but the village as a whole safe. When the time came, the girls eventually began to train in the ways of their parents to become knights themselves.

Growing up, Melody was taught how to wield a sword by her father, and how to use a staff by her mother, and while her sister became more skilled with a sword, she had found her calling with her mother's old staff. As the young girl trained under the tutelage of her mother, she also began to attend various private schools. Her skill and knowledge quickly grew, and she learned how to both fight and defend, and also learned how to take advantage of the elements around her, drawing their energy and channeling it through her staffs as a kind of medium, gaining finesse and power as the years went by. By the time Melody turned 16, she had shown promising results, so her parents took her out of her local school and sat her down, encouraging the young Latias to enrolll in Yarelts since they felt it would give the proper schooling the girl needed in order to carry on the line she and her family were apart of. Melody had heard of the stories surrounding Yarelts - both good and bad - yet happily obliged, knowing that despite the negative stories, they gave their knights the best training they could, and that training would aid her well. She sent in the needed paperwork and applications, anxiously awaiting and hoping to gain entrance into the academy.

POST ACCEPTANCE: Melody's attitude has drastically changed since the events of her 1st year at Yarelts. While she had made friends and even got along with a number of students, near the end of the year the school underwent an apocalyptic series of events, causing a number of horrific creatures to invade the land Yarelts was on. In an effort to defend not only themselves, but the school and others as well, the students all fought to be rid of the creatures, called Omni, and regain the land and their school once again. Unfortunately there had been some who suffered casualties from this event, including the Latias, who'd become infected with what was known in that day as "the corruption". Though the events since then have finally ended for the school, and things have seemingly gone back to normal, Melody's outlook, personality, and even appearance have changed. Becoming more and more detached with others, including the same family and friends she held dear and keeping things to herself more often, it became clear that something was definitely wrong with the Latias, yet even still it seems yet to be figured out what that is.

In Recent Years: As mentioned above, Melody has begun on the path of healing physically, emotionally, and mentally with the help of the companions she met within the last few years. Though she still has difficulty embracing her impairment from the corruption, she's no longer letting the bitterness of her defeat and infection from that fateful day affect the way she treats others. With the help of her loved ones at Yarelts, Melody has begun to try and open towards others, which later on has resulted in a confession of her feelings towards her sparring partner and close friend Cerian, and later on a committed relationship between the two. Melody has also begun to embrace an unexpected maternal side with a few of the other students as well since then, especially to the younger students or those who were pure of heart, since they reminded the Latias of her past self.

In recent months, especially with the given assignments from the school, the Latias began to hold out hope that her condition would eventually have a cure, and since the discovery of a temporary, but working medicine for the corruption, has worked to advance to 3rd Year status so that she can finally be healed of her ailment.

In Recent Months: Not much has changed with the Latias in recent months, though it is of note that she has become a bit more friendlier and her efforts to be less cold have been met with partial success. She has recently hit Third Year status, but after the previous holiday lesson slash marathon, is now holding back on taking the intensely sought-after cure that she has recently received from the school upon advancement, feeling as though she has not earned the right to it, and therefore does not yet deserve to be cured of her ailment.

- playing an instrument of some sort; music seems to calm her further, and even lighten her constantly broody mood a bit

- studying/researching the omni and the elements

- spending time with Cerian, be it sparring or otherwise
- helping her friend Eirlys in her mission to find her parents
- reconnecting with her family, and attempting communication with them via Sight-Sharing

Weapon: Lantern Staff - An object for the Latias to transfer her aura/energy and mana through; the end product/result is ONE of the following elements: Fire, Water, Ice, Earth, Wind, Electricity. The Dormant Colour is Purple, but depending on what type the staff's lantern-like bulb and jewels can change colours (red for fire, blue for water, white for ice, green for earth, yellow for wind, orange for electricity).

Unnamed Crystal Broadsword Rapier - REF LOCATED HERE: [link] A rapier forged by Cerian as a gift for Melody. She is able to channel her mana through it much like her staff, thereby receiving aid from the elements in her swordsmanship. Despite being made by Cerian, it does not have the same soul-bound properties that Ventiel has, and can otherwise function as a regular broadsword rapier.

Class/SubClass: Harmony/Elementals - Melody became proficient in her elemental use from a young age with help from her mother, who likewise is an elemental user. Unlike her sister, who showed a finesse for sword fighting, Melody was naturally able to channel the elements through her psychic.

Mage/Spellsword - Though Melody was trained to be an elemental user, the Latias also received some training from her father on how to wield a sword. While she originally proved to be a decent user, she did not show the same aptitude her twin Kiera had, and initially gave up, feeling as though her movements were too awkward and slow. Since then (with some encouragement from Kiera and Cerian), Melody has decided to take up the class again, though this time with a lighter sword than what she used when she was younger. She has also begun to take lessons from Cerian as well.

Extras/Fun Facts:

- Moveset: Psychic, Mist ball, Surf, Draco Meteor

- Melody's down is the standard red, her sister Kiera's however has more of a burgundy tint to it

- Melody is the older of the two

- The sisters have a very close relationship to each other, and are able to tell how the other one is feeling despite them being separated

- Melody cannot wield a sword like how Kiera can, and Kiera tends to accidentally destroy things when using elements. She hurts Melody too. Think of it as Piplup vs. Gible's Draco meteor from the anime

- Thanks to her sister's constant experimentation with the elements, as well as the explosions and casualties that subsequently followed, she seems to be a bit more hardy and inured towards explosions

- Melody does have the ability to fly, though it is slightly laboured thanks to the corruption. She depends on her ability, Levitate, to aid her flight now

- Melody has a Latiasite, and can indeed use mega evolution; however, her time is cut shorter than the average person because of the corruption. See below link with extra details for more information

- Melody wears a Soul Dew as well (unlike the game version though it has no stat boosts)

- Melody's last name means "good time". It was a reference to her (previously) bubbly and optimistic personality

- It is also a reference to her name/love for music (tempo is a musical term)

- Melody knows how to use her moveset well, and uses it in sync with fighting

- Her outfits are made of the same material her down is; if she refracts light in a certain way she can become invisible.

- Despite not being as proficient as her sister in physical/close combat, she gained a lot of experience and knowledge for it from her father, and after the events of the Omni has begun to train in how to utilise it with what her mother taught her as a staff user

- Draco Meteor's proved to be almost fatal the one time she used it(against the omni). Unless threatened with her life or alone in a good sized clearing, she refuses to use this move

- Melody has three staffs, the references can be found here (far left and far right/blue and purple)

- Thanks to a training/battle mishap and a trip to the nurses' office, Melody has discovered a new found love for sugar cubes. She still remains susceptible to its sugary goodness even now

- Things like tournaments and battle class were previously only like games to her, and as such would see to it that her full power was not fully relinquished. She's a powerhouse battler, but only recently has gotten in touch with her battle side, making her a fierce contender to deal with

- A design change was made from the original design for her corrupted wing; the exposed/improperly healed muscle has been healed, allowing her to no longer need a bandage. There are however certain markings on the wing closer to her back.... [link]
