FAQ #61: What is a Daily Deviation?
FAQ #18: Who selects Daily Deviations and how are they chosen?
- The artist should have logged in no later than 30 days ago.
- If the artist has already received a DD in the past, they can only get another DD if 6 months have elapsed since the previous one. FAQ #313: How can I find out if someone already has a Daily Deviation?
- Send a note with the heading 'DD Suggestion', and link to the artwork with a thumbnail code (find it at the bottom right of a deviation). The thumb code allows me to see what you're sending me.
- The artwork should not be more than 2 years old and preferably newer than any last DD given to the artist.
- The artwork cannot be part of an unfinished contest.
- Try to make sure that any stock material (e.g. photography) is properly credited. See the following link for more information on that: FAQ #217: What are "Stock and Resources" and can I use them in my submissions?
- Please don't send a suggestion to more than one CV at a time.
- You may suggest your own artwork. Your suggestion will be taken anonymously.
Space Art/Sci-Fi Requirements
- You may send me space art or sci-fi artwork suggestions. For my purposes I don't count 'astrophotography' under the space art heading; send those to the Animals, Plants and Nature photography CV (find them here).
- Please look at my features posted in previous journal entries to see the standard of quality I expect for my DD features. Considering this will help to ensure that your suggestions are both useful and accepted.
My Procedures
- I will attempt to reply to your suggestions in appreciation and to indicate their quality, or whether you should forward them elsewhere. In any case, your sincere efforts are appreciated.
- Keep in mind that I may be suggested an artwork or artist by more than one suggester. If this occurs in a short space of time I will credit the first suggester.
- If you suggest an artwork and I find something better to feature in the artist's gallery, I will still credit you as a suggester. If you don't want your name attached to a different artwork, then let me know in the original suggestion.
- It sometimes happens that an artwork I have scheduled to feature is suggested to me afterwards. In that case, if you are the first suggester then I will recognise your good taste by adding your name as the suggester anyway.
- Please note that your suggestion does not act in reserve of future artworks from an artist. However, if the artist submits something I want to feature within 2 weeks of your suggestion, I will still count it. I want the process of suggesting to be honest and open to a wide range of members; this should not be treated as a monopoly competition.
- I appreciate your suggestions, however the appreciation must go both ways. The best attitude to take in suggesting is one of humility and not entitlement. At the end of the day what's important about daily deviations is featuring exceptional artwork from deserving artists.
