Description

Edit: Oh my, first place??????? Wow, a big thank you to the people who donated prize and points for this contest, and Wesley-Souza for hosting. It was EPIC! Also a huge shout out to my amazing coaches (and totally amazing artists) Mr-Ripley and JoeDiamondD (Sorry coach Joe, I misread the rules and I didn't know we were a team. :( I super regret not having the chance to learn from you, and I sincerely hope there will be another time in the future. Your art just blows my mind!)
And last but not least, thank you PendragonArts-GEA for encouraging me just when I was ready to quit on this artwork. I might not have finished if not for you! Thank you and BIG HUGS!!!

Bullet; Blue This is my entry for wesley-souza.deviantart.com/jo… held by :iconthe-imaginarium:
Bullet; Orange My coach was :iconmr-ripley: (so cooooooll

Bullet; Blue So, my concept is that this is the ruins of Atlantis, and on really dark nights the mermaids use jellyfish to light their lamps via a strange and wonderful magic. Just wonderful...
Mr. Ripley advised that I use contrast colors for the lights, and make the mermaid more the center of attention in the artwork. He also suggested more buildings in the bg and more jellyfish and to create a more open scene of it. And he showed me excellent examples of how to do it and what he meant. Any mistakes I made in this artwork do not reflect upon his coachman ship. It's not his fault I'm a bad student, lol

Bullet; Orange Whew! Well, that's finally done. I know I haven't posted in over a month, but that's how long this took me. Ugh, still not exactly the way I wanted it, but I'm still pleased with the way it turned out. It's such a big project, I wish I had a whole year to spend working on it. There's so much I want to show with this concept. Maybe I'll even remake it again sometime... :la:
Seriously, the document had so many layers that my photoshop was performing like a snail. I couldn't have continued if I wanted to, XD

Bullet; Blue Thank you so much :iconmr-ripley: for helping me in this contest with your tips and suggestions. And thank you for seeing the potential in my original work. I would never have thought of remaking it by myself. I'm sorry we didn't have more time to work together, but it was super awesome learning what I did. And I had a ton of fun. THANK YOU!!! :huggle:

Bullet; Orange Original version is here: sta.sh/01r9rsiqop16 it was one of my first deviations, made in June 2015 on an ipad, lol
I had deleted it from DA because I was so embarrassed, Don't look, it's so horrible!!!!!! lol
