Backstory:
Brandy spent most of her life working at a bar at a busy port on the mainland. She served food and drink and tended bar to a clientele of ships' Mothcats coming in off of their latest sea voyages, while the bar's owners would serve their human counterparts. As such, Brandy grew up hearing nothing but tales of exotic places and the sailors' distant homes. Hearing their stories night after night, all from the confines of the harbor town, gave her a feeling of wanderlust that Brandy suppressed for the sake of her job and her fear of stepping away from everything she knew. Instead, she would walk through the town at night and listen to the waves and the strange tug of the ocean winds from the safety of the dock.

She might have stayed at the bar until she died of old age had she not lost her heart to a Mothcat sailor passing through the port, and his stories of the terrible beauty of the ocean. When he moved on to the next harbor, Brandy was left behind, with the distinct sense that her life without the sailor was something small and empty and mundane. She grappled with her heartbreak for a while, until realizing one night that it was not the sailor that she was missing - but the life he had of danger and new horizons on the open sea.

That very night, she stowed away on a ship bound for who-knows-where. She remained hidden as much as possible, but when the sailors were occupied, relished her new life, the feel of the sea, and its seemingly infinite possibilities - until one morning, at the crack of dawn, when her cloud mane awoke her with a feeling of unease she couldn't seem to shake. Trusting the elemental power that had come into its own now that she was on the open ocean, Brandy grabbed what supplies she could and abandoned her impromptu home, not an hour before a giant storm materialized and wrecked the ship.

Battered by the tempest and clinging to a life preserver, Brandy nearly drowned. By a stroke of luck, she washed up on Ronda Beach at Aldora instead. She had heard of Aldora, but never once been there, or dreamed that it could contain so many wild Mothcats and kindred spirits. Far from being frightened by the ocean, thanks to her misadventure, Brandy became even more enamored with it, and is determined to shed the last vestiges of her life as a bar cat for one of adventure - and when, or if, she returns, finally have stories of her own to tell.

Bio:
Brandy is a spirited Mothcat. She's spent a lifetime listening to tall tales, which has rubbed off on her and contributed to her larger-than-life personality. This is, to some extent, an act - without much actual experience being a pirate, sailor, or otherwise, she often has to "fake it until she makes it," and usually succeeds. Behind all her bluster, however, is a genuine passion for and appreciation of the sea, if not yet a true comprehension of its dangers. Her experience as a barkeep and handling sailor Mothcats in various degrees of inebriation has given her a great patience for putting up with others' BS, though not a tolerance of it, and it takes a good deal to rile or perturb her (though there some well-hidden ways to do it, and fast). A bit caught up in her new-found independence, Brandy is as capricious as the ocean, making promises quickly that she may not keep, and abandoning ideas as soon as she thinks of them. The few ideas and people she decides to devote her energy to will find no more industrious a worker or ardent a believer, if a bit headstrong... the rest will find her moving on without much explanation to the next harbor.

Though social by nature, and a great (re)teller of stories, Brandy still indulges in bouts of solitude, where she desires nothing more to be alone with the sea and her thoughts, just as she did on the mainland. These stretches of moodiness are often weather-based: sure as the tide, an approaching storm casts her into spells of sullenness or restless energy, in which she's better left to her own devices.

Likes:
Things that wash ashore that she can collect (shells, sea glass, weird driftwood, messages in bottles), distilled beverages of all descriptions, hunting for treasure, tall tales, tradewinds, novelty and exotic items and places

Dislikes: Anywhere she can't smell the sea or hear the waves, especially too far inland or in forests

Companion:
Bird - Seagull by Mothkitten
Schnapps the Seagull is a cranky, weather-worn old gull who loves alcohol a bit more than a bird probably should. They get along great.

Secret Stash:

Ship in a Bottle by Mothkitten
Ship in a bottle - a must for any pirate!

Compass by Mothkitten
Compass - probably a bigger necessity than the ship in a bottle?

Eyepatch by Mothkitten
She wears this sometimes to look intimidating.

Home:

NO HARBOR IS HER HOME!
