AKUMA Akuma-type
A beastman with a demonic appearance. They don’t actually call themselves this, but due to a traumatizing encounter with a Japanese extraspecies researcher (”AH! KUMA*!”), the name stuck. How unfortunate.
*TN: ‘Kuma’ means ‘bear’. ‘Akuma’ means ‘demon’.

Despite appearances, akuma are a fairly docile race. They just go about their ways enjoying food and preparing for the invevitable winter hibernation. Extraspecies hosts, beware. While akuma are in fact pretty lax throughout the majority of the year, disturbing them while they sleep for roughly 3 months is a different story. I mean really, would YOU poke a sleeping bear? Idiot.

SHIR-AKUMA Shir-Akuma-type
Akuma variation from the upper North. Typically more aggressive (if not the most), more adept in the water, and more carnivorous than your average akuma. Apart from that and their fur color, there isn’t really much else different about them. Might calm down when angered when offered a Coca-Cola*.
*[citation needed]

KUR-AKUMA Kur-Akuma-type
Akuma subspecies with a black coating. They have the highest demonic affinity of their entire species, as indicated by their gnarlish horns and red body markings*. In contrast to their fearsome appearances, kur-akuma are actually the most meek of their kind, often losing in scuffles against their fellow akuma. They just happen to look angry all the time. The phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover” comes to mind here.
*Note: Some of these are actually just washable tattoos. Please play along with it.

For the true champion of akuma violence, see the extended section on shir-akuma on page 486.

OWL BEAR Owl Bear-type
Let me tell you the tale of the birds and the bears. When an akuma and an owl harpy love each other VERY much, there is a scientific chance of their child being a hybridized owl bear. Yay, science!

Owl bears are a hyper-aggressive extraspecies, possibly due to their chimera-like genetics. The brute strength of an akuma and the keen eyesight of an owl harpy make for a deadly combination. They are strictly carnivorous, so you can forget about that fried tofu entrée you ordered. Steaks only. Wild by nature, owl bears are uncommonly found prowling about dungeons venting out their anger. Take note, DMs.

And finally, the other extraspecies card I had half-finished for months: Akuma Species!

I'm quite proud of turning that name pun into an actual original species, haha. My personal favorite here's the Owl Bear, which was conceived over input during my art stream today.

With this ends the backlog of cards I had to finish. What's up next? Stay tuned!
