Description

Wow uh this is my first time writing a Chinese character, so I hope you can forgive me if I got anything wrong! He's also one of the most fucked up characters I've written about. I'm so sorry LOL. I can tone it down if need be, but I wanted to portray a "yandere", the group's theme for those of you who don't know, as realistically as possible. I also made a speedpaint sample for this piece if you want to check it out! [link] THANKS Y'ALL.

    BEHIND THE MASK

    PERSONALITY

    ► SWEET, SLUGGISH
    [ Ah... ] " Yes...? "

    ► ASOCIAL, BRILLIANT
Yu is someone who has spent most of his life in the shadows rather than the forefront. Because of this, he's honed his intelligence quotient and thereby neglected his emotional quotient critically, in comparison. The solutions to mathematical equations come to him as effortlessly as the definition behind pretentious words and their spelling. He'd much rather be a shut-in and talk to his plants than socialize with someone with tastes similar to his.
" My deepest apologies, but I must limit my time here so as to get back to mother. She's waiting for me. I'm sure you understand... "

    ► OBSERVANT, ANALYTICAL
Although his eye may wander, you'd have to be as alert as he is to catch him staring. When speaking with someone, or even so much as being in the same room as him, you can bet that he's preoccupied with judging their character and imagining what life must be like for them—almost as though he's sizing strangers up to novel characters. If you're a recurring character in his life, expect that he's already studied your behavior enough until he's able to write you like one.
[ She keeps looking towards the window... What's out there for you? I've seen the bruises on your shoulder... and his arm around another girl. Maybe you're going out to see another guy... W-Wow. That'd be scandalous... ]

    ► GLOOMY, LACHRYMOSE
His droopy eyes are weighed down by all the tears he's shed and the worry coursing through his blood. While his clinical depression paints him inside and out, it's also evident in the way he speaks. He doesn't have time for pity, though, so he doesn't say very negative things all that often. He is pessimistic, but not to an obnoxious degree. If you ask him how he's doing, he'll imply or sound like he's under-the-weather but not too fazed by it.
" Huuhh? Oh yeah... I was just looking at the roses. They're always wilting. Why doesn't anyone water them... "

    ► PERVERTED, FANTASIST
Because of his need to over-analyze everyone and everything, Yu's mind is often rotting in the gutter. He's a daydreamer, so when he's not focusing on his studies or observing someone in class, he's probably got his head in the clouds fantasizing about his professor's sex life or the girth and depth of his own eye socket. You can guarantee that he's reserved some alone time with himself after seeing you hold hands with someone. He has more than likely seen the photos from your swim meet (and attended them, too).
[ Her breasts are so big... She must play with them when nobody's around. Han is probably such a dirty girl in the bedroom... I bet her boyfriend's just as endowed. Hah... Hah. I have to go. ]

    ► ANGER ISSUES, DISTURBED
Much to his chagrin, Yu isn't the most emotionally stable person—especially behind closed doors. He's prone to bouts of anger after experiencing rejection or making a grave mistake in his stalking pursuits. Being victim to the illness spreading around Beijing doesn't help the intrusive thoughts he has, either. Like his perversion, his episodes are unbeknownst to anyone who knows him. Thus, he may not be the first person who comes to mind when you receive a used sock filled with bodily fluids in the mail.
[ DAMN IT... FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK! Why are you moving away?! Was it something I said? How could you do this to me... I EVEN NAMED MY MAIN CHARACTER AFTER YOU—! FUCK YOU. ]

    ► SADISTIC, MASOCHISTIC
[ I'm bleeding.. I'm bleeding. I deserve it... Do it again. That'll teach me. If you don't, then I'll just have to do it myself later. Ah... ]

    LIKES
    ► Teeth.
    ► Biting his nails.
    ► Roses and lavender.
    ► Writing, writing, writing.
    ► Drawing, especially with charcoal.
► Plants, specifically flowers. More specifically his own.
► Watching performance and singing competitions on his computer.
► Cross-dressing, but only so as to get into character when writing women.

    DISLIKES
► Police. They make him anxious.
    ► Subways, elevators, and escalators.
► Large bodies of water. Relatively, swimming.
► Animals and babies. They're noisy and bothersome.
► Family. Not that he dislikes them personally, but he dislikes showing his face around them (figuratively).

    HISTORY

Like everyone in their younger years, developing a passion for one hobby alone is a good thing. Right?
Only after turning fourteen, Yu had finished writing his first book. "It's a romance novel," he murmured on the courtyard.
"What do you know about romance, Ouyang Yu?"
    "..."

But that didn't matter. All that mattered was that he had an outlet, and he was good at it—or so he liked to believe. His neighbour Jiang helped him believe that.
"You wrote this?" She mused before plopping down beside him. He remembers to this day the scent of her hair and the way it cascaded over her eyes.
"Yes... It's nothing," he asserted, reaching to take it back.
"Not so fast!" She laughed, pushing him away.
"The Illegitimates," she softly read from the cover.
He grinned despite the woe in his eyes.

"I'm writing another book," he confessed to her at lunch.
Jiang looked up from her tray with full cheeks and wide eyes. "Yu, anuffer' one?!"
He nodded, slowly. This one was going to be self-published with pressed flowers in the covers.
"Whush' it about?" With her hand over her mouth, his neighbour perked up and cocked her head.
"It's about a boy who lives in a garden... I-I mean, I don't know yet. That's all I got so far."
She gulped. "Well I'm sure it's going to be as lovely as its predecessor."
It took him a moment to process Jiang's compliment.
He gulped back unconsciously. "Ah..." He blushed.

It didn't take very long for him to complete the second book, appropriately titled The Beholder.
The writing in this one was much more flowery than the last. Much more lively.
It seemed the further she thumbed through the pages, the further it read like an autobiography.
Eerie how one of the starring roles belonged to a character named Jiao and the main one Ye.

"Wow, Yu! It's... It's impressive." She beamed.
The boy beamed back at her, but his eyes remained still and staring.

It wasn't until she began to spend less and less time with him that he began working on his third book.
Less and less time in class, at lunch, on the courtyard.
Less and less time at home.

"Yu, I'd like you to meet my boyfriend."
    "."
    ".."
    "..."
    "Ah."

Jiang oh Jiang, he mused to himself with dirty fingernails clamped on his keyboard.
    kgdlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllldk;dzfllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllj
Who knew Jiang was... such a naughty girl. Such a dirty, dirty girl.
Skipping classes like that... Skipping lunch on the courtyard.
I got picked on today, Jiang. Did you know that?
    ;alskdghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhdaagjsl;dkdjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj
Of course you didn't. You were too busy touching yourself for him.
You were... too busy... touching him.

    "Yu! How have you been?"
"It's done. I finally finished it, Jiang."
    "Finished what...?"
"My third book, of course. It's an erotica."
    "O-Oh...!"
"You will be taking a copy, yes?"
    "But of course."

The tide had already turned, though. It had changed its course and was headed straight for the rocks.
Sweet Jiang didn't have time to read through her neighbour's fantasies anymore.
Naturally. She didn't owe him anything.

But that didn't prevent her boyfriend from skimming through the third installment of Yu's lifelong series.
A pair of red lips between two spread fingers could be found on the front page.
A tongue adorned with rose thorns spilled from between pearly white teeth.
This one was titled Roses and Renegades.
    The main character's name was simply J i a n g.
Several pages stuck to each other from the stains within.
    "..."
    ".."
    "."
    "You sick fuck."

Black and blue the world became. Bruises and blood and broken bones, beating and bludgeoning.
Some wounds never heal. Some lessons are never learned.
He survived this time, but at the cost of half his vision and a childhood friend.
    Tell me, Ouyang Yu.
    Was it really worth it.
    Will you ever learn?

    MISCELLANEOUS
► Yu is very soft spoken. He sounds tired almost all the time and his voice drags with tired breaths in between. It isn't obnoxiously slow or breathy, but it's clear that the way he carries himself is very melancholy.
► As mentioned, he's an author of several books. I'm not ready to determine how popular his works are yet LOL, but it should be known that he writes under the pen name Xing Gao [ 邢高 ], a play on words for Jinggau [ 警告 ], which translates to warning (despite the change in tones).
► Gonna assume he lives on his own in a dingy little apartment, that of which homes his own personal botanical garden. It's typical of him to speak to his plants, those of which are all named after characters in his books (which are, more often than not, named after living people).
► TL;DR on history, he had his right eye damaged beyond salvation. Neither parties chose to press charges only for the sake of protecting their own hides. The eyeball isn't just missing, either; it isn't very sightly behind the bandages. He's insecure about the way it looks and being asked about it, too.
