Crafting Tutorial


Item crafting is a feature of the MothcatMarket in order to create custom items for your Mothcats. This can include items such as clothing, accessories, plushies, etc. Anything that can be added to a registered Mothcat's inventory can be crafted with the right materials. 

Rules & Guidelines

  1. Only Mothcats members may participate. (All members automatically agree to our Species Terms and Conditions.)
  2. All participants must have a Mothcat Bank.
  3. Members do not have to own a Mothcat or subspecies in order to craft and obtain crafted items.
  4. Members must own a Mothcat or subspecies in order to equip crafted items.


How to Craft


MothcatMarket participants may craft items using two different methods: 
  1. Craft via shop service.
  2. Craft via quest.

Crafting via Shops


Various shops offer crafting services related to their business: 

To craft items via shops, please follow this process: 
  1. Go to the shop you wish to craft at. 
  2. Obtain an appraisal for the craft(s) you wish to make. (Optional)
  3. Draw a 70x70 image of the craft you wish to make in order to submit to the item database. 
  4. Fill in the form at the appropriate crafting comments in order to obtain approval. 
Once approved, you may update your banks and submit the item to the database. 


Crafting via Quest


The new MothcatMarket as of February 2017 offers the option to craft items via quest! To do so, please follow this process: 
  1. Check the Quest Bulletin for available crafting quests. 
  2. Follow the quest procedures as outlined in each individual quest. 
  3. Comment under the appropriate quest link to claim your rewards. 
  4. Once the quest claim has been approved, draw a 70x70 image of the craft you wish to make in order to submit to the item database. 
  5. Fill in necessary forms at the appropriate crafting comments in order to obtain approval. 
Once approved, you may update your banks and submit the item to the database. 



Modifying Crafted Items


Crafted items may be modified under the following conditions: 
  • The original artist has given expressed permission to modify the original artwork. 
    • Mothcats does not allow any official item to be modified for personal use. 
  • A clean, transparent 70x70 image is provided as a replacement. 
To update the original art of craft, please follow this process: 
  1. Go to this link: Adding Items to the Database
  2. Fill out the following form: 
    Item Name: 
    Original Artist: 

    Link to Old Artwork: [From the Item DB]
    Link to New Artwork: [From your Stash]
  3. Wait for approval before updating your bank. 
To modify existing crafted items: 
  1. Follow the procedure for: Adding Items to the Database
  2. All newly modified items will be created as new items in the database. (The old one will not be deleted unless per original artist request.)
