After everyone left the meeting room the ten energy shifters stayed. They had even thrown out their second in commands, not even Askr got to stay. The mood in there was tense.
“He needs another supervisor! I can't leave him with Reed.” Radiation said.
“I can't believe it Radiation.” Chemical said with his deep voice. He stood with his back towards the table, looking out the window at the city below in the valley. Snow where slowly falling outside.
“We need him Chemical! We wouldn't have had all this information if it wasn't for him!” Radiation said upset.
“We don't need a criminal. He deserves the death penalty” Chemical answered in a matter of fact tone.
“You of all people should know how useful a psychic can be!”
“Have you looked into how many shifters he have killed?!” Chemical turned around. His eyes burned in a deep orange tone. In his hands he held a tablet on which he had checked up Delmar’s files.
“Yes I have and it's not pretty. I did a pretty big research on him before I contacted him the first time. But it still doesn't change the fact that we need him. There hasn't been anyone with that psychic power since… you know.” she said the last words a bit lower uncertain of how Chemical would react. Chemical quietly stared furiously at her.
“He was a criminal too once…” she said even more uncertain.
“At least Cain didn't make a sport out of killing people.” Chemical put down the electronic tablet with Delmar’s file on a table beside the window.
“We need him.” she said.
Chemical did not look like he was willing to back down but they both knew she was right.

“Calm down both you.” Gravity said. “Delmar have been a valuable resource. It could be worth it to give him another chance.” He rose and joined Chemical at the window. Chemical moved respectfully aside to make room for the old man. He too looked out the window at the falling snow. “I would rather see us apologizing a serial killer than see this world be consumed a black hole.”
“But a psychic serial killer?” Magnetic said.
“Psychics have always been unpredictable, hard to understand and hard to control.” Gravity said. “We might possess incredible strength but they possess the abilities to understand people, find their weaknesses, look into their minds and predict the future. Those abilities are very useful in times like these.” then he turned to Chemical. “This is a very good spot to stand if you have something important to say.” he smiled.

“Fine you can keep him. But don't think I'm doing this for you Radiation. I'm doing this for Cain. He would never had forgiven me if I killed his lost child.” Chemical said after a while of silence. Radiation was quiet and looked at Chemical in a peculiar way.
“Don’t think I didn't notice you've been trying to awaken my sentimental side. You dressed him up in Cain’s robes just to make me forgive him. I will give him one chance, but if he ever does anything criminal again he will be executed. But I will not change his supervisor and you do owe me a new prison.” Chemical said.
“He can hopefully change. You know how messed up Cain was before you got him under control.” Radiation answered.
“What do you know about that? You weren't born.”
“No, but he told me stories about it.”
“Well he was nearly executed a couple of times too.” Gravity interrupted. “Before we realized what was wrong with him.”
“Cain was still young when I took him under my wing, this guy is an adult. I doubt you can teach an old dog to sit Radiation.”
“I have seen good in him, he's never questioned me or refused to do anything except when he didn't want to go to the electrical faction.”
“That is understandable.” Electrical said.
“Thermal, what’s your opinion? He’s one of your former scouts after all.” Chemical asked. Thermal looked surprised.
“Frankly I don't remember him. I got hundreds of scouts. You don't expect me to know them all?” she turned to Mechanical. “Do you remember him?” Now it was mechanical’s turn to look surprised.
“Um… what was his element again?” he asked.
“Ice.” Radiation answered.
“Delmar… Ice…” Mechanical mumbled. “No… yes… maybe… was he…? No...” The rest of them continued. They knew mechanical would go on mumbling words without any substance forever.
“It’s too bad he lost his wolf companion though. I think she had a good influence him…” Radiation said.
“Wolf companion?”
“Yes, he had a demon blood wolf following him around giving him advices and taking him back down to earth.”
“You shouldn't rely on an animal to keep one of our own in line.” Chemical stated.
“So we should rely on the guy’s worst enemy to do it? Then we can definitely count on him staying on our side.” Radiation said irritated.
“There are few persons I trust more in my faction than Reed. Radiation I don't think you are comprehending this situation. You are asking us to let a serial killer, a psychic serial killer, roam free on our streets. You do realize we're not going to let him do that without a proper supervisor. And you are not going to pick the supervisor. You are asking us to trust your judgment of this guy. Then you must trust or judgment to pick a fitting supervisor.” Chemical answered. The others around the table agreed.

“Should we tell him about his father?” Sound asked.
“No, there's no point in that, Cain is dead. What use will he have of knowing about a dead parent? Knowing your parents are a luxury. And telling someone that their parents had plans to find you and love you but died before they managed to is just plain cruel.” Chemical answered.
“I think we should tell him, but not right now. I don't know how he would take it.” Radiation said. “Besides before we can be sure he’ll stay loyal to us we shouldn’t introduce him to Cain’s books with the collected knowledge of the psychic powers he possess.”
“So we’ll hide it from him? How the hell do you hide something from a psychic with that power?” Sound said a bit troubled.
“Cain used to say; If you want to hide something from a psychic, don’t make him suspicious.”
“Are you sure he's Cain’s son?” Elastic asked.
“The psychic powers are the only thing we've been able to track from parent to child. And he possess the exact same powers as Cain.” Radiation answered.
“He's the right age and a wolf too. Cain said it was important to him that his child was going to be the same animal species as himself. There’s no doubts, he's Cain’s child alright.” Chemical said displeased.

“Then it's settled. Now let's talk about that nuclear explosion that destroyed the prison.” Gravity said and gave Nuclear the evil eye.
“How do you know I didn't use regular explosives?” Radiation asked as Nuclear fled in under her shirt to hide.
“When have you ever used regular explosives?”

This part makes me wonder how Radiation knew of Delmar's mind powers in the first place.
I didn't expect or even think there was an explanation to Delmar's mind powers, it's a nice surprise. And I do think it would be good for him to know about his father, even of just to know why he hi like that.
