Princess Nikkita Eurum of West

Nikkita is an original character I've developed for one of my Book of the Shadows stories, Three Kingdoms War. Despite the name, this is not another story looking to retell the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. She is a princess of a kingdom called West, that has been invaded by their neighbor, East. Yes, horribly original names, I know. She is the descendant of a hated figure known as the Azure King, a man who legend says wield brilliant blue flames and spread terror across the lands. The story follows a plot to kill her because of this heritage, and her fight to overcome this and reclaim her occupied homeland of West. 

This image was developed over a relatively brief period of time, compared to the speed with which I usually complete these projects. Start to finish I did it over about two to three weeks. I was thinking that her eventual personality would be akin to Ryofu Housen out of Ikkitousen, or perhaps Satelizer Bridget, in her Ice Queen phase, out of Freezing, so I wanted to Nikkita to have that sort of build. I ended up changing my view of her personality's development, but I stuck with the image of her. I chose a burnt orange for her hair because it is one of my favorite colors, and a fairly rare one for hair color. Her last name is Latin for wind, thus the pattern on her dress. The dress as a whole depicts a winds blowing through the sky, the bright sky darkening as you get higher up, until you reach her hair that reminds of the sun. The hair antennae and looped braids represent the coronal loops common in images of the sun. She's holding a pair of swords, one of the multiple types of weapons she is adept in using. 

All in all it's a nice first stab at this new character. I have a couple more of her planned, hopefully I'll have something more to share not too far from now. As always, more details on this work on my blog, bookoftheshadows.blogspot.com.
