:bulletpink: Continuing with 'elements' :ninja:, next comes fire. Fire is a fundamental piece of our evolution, bringing us out of the cold Stone Age and into the warm Bronze. When I was taking my art history class one of the (many) things that struck me was that the Bronze Age was actually occurring simultaneously with the Stone Age, depending on where you lived. Stonehenge in England, for example, was built thereabouts 3100 BC, whereas in China the Bronze Age started thereabouts 3000 BC. According to a quick google search, the Bronze Age technology wouldn't reach England until 1900 BC. Quite the gap, and not just due to geography, but because of heat. People closer to the equator were warmer (obviously!) and so they could spend more time developing the technology needed to kickstart modernistic civilization versus the cold survivalism of areas further from the equator. ...That might all be my own theorizing, it has been a few years since I've been in class. But that's what I've taken away from those lessons and so that's what I share with you. Anyway, without fire we'd hardly be a centimeter closer to producing things like bronze and we'd definitely not be in the super technology lifestyle we live today.

Fire works in a triangle: heat, fuel, and oxygen. Take one away, and fire won't happen. In beautiful balance, just as a fire can destroy an entire forest, some plants require fire for their seeds to spread. In my particular constantly-trying-not-to-die brew of tabletop D&D, fire will keep you warm at night and also draw in the most dangerous enemies of the area. The hottest parts of fire are often invisible to our regular eyesight, some fires burn for thousands of years, and despite the sun looking like a giant ball of fire it's actually plasma. In my highschool chemistry class, I got to create pink fire by adding potassium chloride to the flame. :la:

Your challenge is:
  • Take your own craft and make something flamey!
    • La la la la It must be submitted to DA after this journal to count!
  • Comment here with a thumb/link so that I don't miss it.
  • Even if you aren't an artisan feel free to participate!
    • Yes!! Bring me drawings!! Bring me photos! Bring me stories! I don't care what your medium is. La la la la
    • All pyrography, whether your subject is 'fire' or not, is very welcome this month.
At the end of the month I'll feature all your new sizzling pieces in a new journal. :squee:
