Work on the Biped Prototype continues slowly but steadily. I have the body basically complete. I had to try the under-leg and under-leg to body sewing multiple times.
I am using Adam Humphrey's Biped Pony Plushie 09 pattern. The under-leg B to A seam confused me for a while. After that, I had problem with the fabric bunching up when doing the B to C belly seam. Still, I finally succeeded.
The next step is to work on the arms. I need to decide whether to use doll joints or armatures.

Biped Prototype 3 Mane and Tail
I added Derpy's mane and tail to the prototype. The pattern is from https://buttercupbabyppg.deviantart.com/
The tail works fairly well with the doll armatures. It is easy to slip over the armatures and is easy to move into position.
Overall the tail and mane should be bigger. I am going to try and increase the size by 30% and see what that looks like. The tail and mane are just pinned in place.
I did add the ears, only I flipped them the wrong way. At least this is just a prototype.
Biped Prototype 3 Update
I stuffed the prototype, and it came out fairly well. The 1/8" doll armatures provide a good range of movement. They are fairly easy to move into position and they don't move once set. Stuffing is still tricky, but I worked slowly and used chopsticks to push down the Fiberfill. Next step is to test out the mane, tail, and wings.
I ended up cutting a hole in the back for some armatures for the tail. This will allow movement. This is shown at the bottom.
I tried two strategies for stuffing. At first, I used a light stuffing because I worried the stuffing would bunch up around the armature. However, a light stuffing caused the skin to bunch up
Derpy Tree Topper
I have the body and head sewn for the Derpy tree topper. I am stuffing a prototype with doll armatures to see how that goes. Afterwards, I will start stuffing Derpy. The picture is of the back which includes a zipper which will eventually provide access for a power source and controls for lights.
Biped Prototype 3 Update
I purchased the 1/8" armatures, and I am in the process of stuffing the pony. The joints are going to be tight, but I am cautiously optimistic that this might work.

this pic is super helpful, I recently purchased this pattern, and while I don't consider myself a beginner (I'm certainly no expert!) so the legs have given me some trouble. Do you, perhaps, have a picture similar to this of the back and/or side? I would super appreciate it if you could share one!
Thanks!
